Rating: Summary: Passion, Love, Tragedy, Heart, Saddeness Review: The book Where the Red Fern Grows taught me very valuable lessons in life. It is about a 10 year old boy that wanted two hounds so bad that he worked two years to get them. Billy's parents were very poor so they could not aford to buy him the hounds. Nothing stopped him from getting to where he wanted to be. If it was going to get the dogs or going hunting with his dogs. Billy is a very good trainer and friend to his dogs. I can't believe that Billy lost all that. He was just accepted as a man and won 2 cups and money to prove it. He was very proud of himself and his two closest friends. Old Dan and Little Ann (his dogs) brought him happiness. Then suddenly they took it away with their deaths. This story seemed so real and it has a will to make you turn the page. In the end Billy sees a red fern and he feels better because of the tale it has. The red fern ended up on his dogs graves. Again this is a very good book. 5 KAW

Rating: Summary: Dogs really are a man's best friend! Review: Where the Red Fern Grows is an uplifting story of a young boy named Billy and his two hunting dogs named Old Dan and Little Ann. Billy always wanted coon hounds because he lived in the Ozark Mountains and hunting was in his blood! Because his family was poor, Billy worked odd jobs for two years to be able to buy Old Dan and Little Ann. Once he had his coon hounds, he realized they were special. They were the greatest hunters in all the land. They even won the Championship Coon Hunt which proved to everyone that they were the best. Billy was the happiest boy around until something tragic happened while he was hunting one night. Where the Red Fern Grows was truly a story of a young boy and his dogs, and the special relationship that grew between them. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I would recommend it highly to any boy or girl who likes to read stories about people and their pets. Rating: Summary: Exciting, happy, and sad Review: I think that Where the Red Fern Grows was a great book. Billy wanted those two hunting hounds so much. I don't think I've ever wanted anything that bad. His family was too poor to get him the hounds so he worked and earned all the money for the dogs. That is what I call determination. When he got the dogs he trained them and they were the best in the country. His grandpa took him to a Championship Coon Hunt, which Billy won the Gold Cup and the Jack Pot. Billy and the dogs always went hunting and had a lot of fun. Near the end a tradgedy happens which was very sad. But at the end it all works out and they move to town so that they can have a good education and life. ...

Rating: Summary: One of My Favorites Review: Where the Red Fern Grows is an awesome book. I recomend this book to readers who always has a box of tissuses by their side. The main idea about this book is how Billy is determied to get what he wants (two dogs). After a couple of years Billy walked all the way to Tahlequah to get his dogs. Billy trained them both to be coon hunters. Billy and his dogs had a whole lot of adventures together. And after a terrible thing had happened Billy gets cheered up by going to a coon hunting contest. Billy comes home with a silver cup and a gold cup with the money. Billy loves his dogs so much, but a mountain lion attacked Billy. His dogs protected Billy. I love this book!
