Summary: not one of Jonathan Kellerman's better books
Review: +AH4-Although I have been a fan of Jonathan Kellerman's writing (have read every single book), I was bothered by the political intonations of this book. His anti-arab messages came in the way of a story which (I thought)was supposedly sending out an anti-prejudice message. I suggest you read his other books because they are really amazing, especially if you are intersted in psychology. Survival of the Fittest has a good plot and a shocking message concerning psychology and intelligence testing but+AH4-+AH4- only if you aren't botherd by the author's personal political views+AH4-

Summary: Good Kellerman, but not his best
Review: The storyline was, to say the least, horrifying. Trying to figure out "who done it" was frustrating at best. The "new" character added to the plot, but I really didn't care for the ending. It seemed to haphazardly tie up all of the loose ends and left me thinking "What?!?" I will continue to read Jonathan Kellerman's books because I enjoy a good mystery and Kellerman is one of the best. I just hope his next is back up to speed.

Summary: Dr. Delaware is back!
Review: I stumbled onto Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware books after being greatly impressed by The Butcher's Theater. I've looked foreward to the annual releases of the series, but I have been dissappointed by the last two offerings - The Clinic and The Web. Survival, however, brings us back to the sinister, twisted world lurking just behind the promises of Kellerman's Los Angeles. The revival of the Israeli detective, Daniel Sharevi, was unexpected but worked well. I hope we see more from this unique character. A well written, crisply-paced Kellerman classic.

Summary: disappointing &lacking in creative antigonist
Review: Although I have always looked forward to the Alex Delaware mystery, Kellerman's latest books are a huge disappointment. Survival of the Fittest had no character development or understanding of its one dimensional antagonists whose motive was 'just because I can'. Such a disappointment. Dr. Kellerman, where are those clever books with credible characters and plausable situations keeping your readers on the edge of their seats? The conclusion of this book was not worthy of the story leading up to it. I miss When the Bough Breaks and many of the earlier stories with psychology woven tightly with the mystery. Please give us real problems with villians we can understand and appreciate. If not, have the bad guys wear mustaches and black hats.

Summary: Not living up to expectations!
Review: Though Alex Delaware novels are always a good read, this book has an unbelievable plot, which does not jell well with reality. However, the pace of the book remains fast and adroit and first time readers must try other Alex Delaware books cause they have much better plot than this book.
Or is it because the book is pro-Jewish and leans favorably on minorities - that some readers disturbing?

Summary: I listened to the abridged audiotape of this book
Review: I had heard it wasn't as good as previous books by this author, but I thought it was of the same quality. Kellerman has a formula and a style, and if you like it, I think you'll like this book. The plot involves first a very public suicide by a policeman and then the discovery of the body of a dead child -- who is both deaf and retarded, not to mention the daughter of a diplomat. Alex Delaware, child psychologist and consultant to the LAPD, gets involved through his policeman buddy. In no time at all, you start wondering who can be trusted -- and Alex begins to uncover something larger and even uglier than the death of a child.

It's hard for me to imagine what they cut out of the book for the abridgement, because I didn't feel like I was getting the reader's digest version. I enjoyed listening to this tape.

Summary: Skimmed the last 200 pages
Review:

I have never read an Alex Delaware novel before...but it seems I have not missed much. It has been a while since I have sat down with a book that is simply just mediocre. The writing is filled with as many one word paragraphs as words it seems, and the plot stubles along to a predictable ending.

I am not sure what makes these books popular. There is little of substance and I get this feeling that the level of reading is just above that of a Hardy Boys novel.
