Summary: Enduring Classic- Exciting Adventure!
Review: Winner of the Newbery Award, this book has been read by many students in my classes. It is an exciting "true-life" adventure of an Indian woman stranded on an island off the coast of California. She must learn survival skills. Will hold the attention of both boys and girls. Excellent read!

Summary: Strength, courage and imagination
Review: This is simply a wonderful book. My son enjoyed it tremendously at age 6, as I read a chapter to him each night and he couldn't wait to hear the next chapter the next night. He reread it at age 10 and excitedly shared it with his friends. One of his comments was that he liked learning how people in other parts of the world, different times and cultures and places, lived. I was concerned that the death of the girl's brother might be too difficult for a sensitive child...on the contrary, my son was impressed with the girl's courage and loyalty. Interestingly, his second grade teacher gave them Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes to read. Now that he's older, Blue Dolphin and the Paper Cranes are the kind of books he recalls easily, while the more currently popular series books are just as easily forgotten.

Summary: Island of the Blue Dolphins
Review: Island of the Blue Dolphins is a really good book because it was different. A girl was left on an island, and had no choice but to find a way to survive until someone came and rescued her.
Wild dogs, weather, and the need of food all stand in her way. When a pack of wild dogs kill her brother, she plans revenge.

This was a VERY good book, and very well written. Scott O'Dell makes you feel as if you are really there.

I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Summary: Jennas Review
Review: It was a great book about dolphins. I Love dolphins and this book made me feel all warm and tingly inside. This book is a great book to sit down and read all weekend. Just sitting by the fire sometimes makes you forget to eat. This book should be dedicated to my 7th grade reading teacher Mrs. Holderman, she tought me what reading by the fire is all about. Thankyou Mrs. Holderman you turned my chickins to eating berrys by the fire side.

Summary: Excellent Writing!
Review: Island Of The Blue Dolphins is one of the best books ever written. It is about an idian girl Karana who lives in the village of Ghalas-at with brother Ramo, father Chief Chowig and sister Ulape, and fellow neighbors. Karana learns how to live alone and to find out what happend to her family on a boat that left without her and her brother years ago. This book is great to learn about how indians hunted and survived. This is also a sad book, but very adventurous.

Review: The book Island of The Blue Dolphins was an extrodinary book written by the great american author Scott O'Dell. When I read it I couldn't put it down. The book was about a 12 year old American Indian girl named Karana. She and her tribe are on their way to start a new life when she notices that her brother was left behind on the island. She jumps off the boat to get her brother and they are both left behind.About 5 weeks later her brother is killed by a pack of wild dogs. The leader of the pack was named Rontu. When Karana finds Rontu wounded she takes the dog under her care.Soon they become the best of friends.Rontu's son was named Rontu-Aru and soon was friends with Karana.Karana lived on this island being only 12 and kept herself alive by foraging for food on land and in the ocean. She built shelter and made weapons for her protection.Karana lived on this island for many years. The white men never came back to help her. Then soon after Father Gonzales came and she went on a voyage with him.
