Rating: Summary: I loved it!!!!! Review: I really liked Island of the Blue Dolphins. I liked it because of the way it was told. I would recommend it to all girls my age, but I do not think a boy my age would like it as much as a girl.
Rating: Summary: A book to remmber Review: I loved this book from the first moment it was read to me in the 4th grade. It was the book that inspired me to want to read and to continue reading into my adulthood. Each year through elementary school, I would go back to the library find it and read it again and again. I am now 29 and still at times think of this book. This is the book that put me on track to become the avid reader I am today. I thank the author and my teacher - his name long since forgotten. Isn't that ironic!
Rating: Summary: Right up there w//Little Women as Worst Book Ever Review: I was forced into reading this in class this year, which is sixth grade. Let me say right now, it is the worst book I have ever read. There is slim-to-no character development, the plot was- well, ridiculous- wait, what plot? It was basically, 'Oh, today I got food', 'Oh, today I made a weapon', 'Oh, today I bored the poor, unsuspecting sixth-grader to death!' It was an utter waste of time.Also- this girl _was_ female, and there was no mention of the fact that she was growing up. Hel-lo?
Rating: Summary: Loved it and still do Review: I love this book, although some did not. If you didnot like this book, I feel very sorry for you. This book was easy to preveiw. Mr. O'Dell, very good work. Very well written with many details. Was a challenge for me to find. I could follow along well. Very, very, well written.
Rating: Summary: Been searching for years for this! Review: I saw this movie in black and white when I was a child. I'm over 40 now and have looked in catalogs and stores over the years for this book and/or video with no success. I was astounded to come across this! The story sticks in my mind, and I remember how very much I loved it. The young lady has inspired me to be strong and independent and to pursue my own story.

Rating: Summary: A true story of survival. Review: This novel won the 1961 Newbery Medal for best contribution to American children's literature. It is based on a true event of a young Indian girl (and her six-year-old brother who dies shortly after the initial events in the story) who was accidentally marooned on the island of San Nicolas off the coast of southern California in 1835. She was alone on that island for eighteen years and is now buried in Santa Barbara, California. The book, a true story of survival, is written primarily for children of the ages nine to fourteen. And, it has to be one of the most popular and familiar books for children in the second half of the twentieth century. Perhaps it is because it is a true story of a teenager able to survive by herself for so long, using her wits and her courage.
Rating: Summary: A great book that touches the heart! Review: A girl who is stranded on an island for 18 years. She must take food, hide and protect herself. Her dogs Rontu and Rontu-Aru are the best companins. The Alutes have killed most of Won-a-pa-lei's tribe-including her farther. Krarna (Won-a-pa-lei)helps many animals. I hope you enjoy this book as much (if not more!)than I did!
