Summary: Islad of the blue dolphins
Review: WOW THIS BOOK WAS SOO BAD! IF I COULD I WOULDN'T GIVE IT A STAR! I mean there are way to many books about kids getting stuck on islands. Someone told me if I liked the movie Cast away with Tom Hanks I would love this. Boy were they wrong this book [was really bad]! Her brother is the reason that she stays on the island. The ships begin to sail away but her brother forgot something. He goes back to get it but he can't catch up. The captin wont slow down.So the girl jumps out into the water to stay with him. He wants to see the wild dogs on the island because he never seen them before. He had lived on the island all his life and he knew that they were not nice. But he trys to kill one because they begin to starve! He ends up dying because a dog eats him! Man it [is bad]. Do not read this! I mean dont you think that they would know how to survive on an island that they have lived on there entire life!

The book was very intersting and I hope that there will be another part to it! It is very amagizing how such a young girl learns to survive with so little! I'm a freshman at Kennedy High School and hope to be a teacher one day and I truely will recommend it to my students and kids of my own when I have 'em ;)! ~Agnes~

Summary: A fantastic tale .....
Review: I,an eight years old girl, just take a glance at it when I first saw it.But when I read the book,I was really suprised how Scott O'Dell's imagination of a girl,Karana, her brother,Ramo, and Ulape flows to her mind. She weaved two wonderful tales together, one happiness, and the other, sadness.

One morning, while a girl and her brother Ramo was picking abalones,a red sail caught sight in Ramo's eyes.Karana just ignored him while he screamed. When they got home, their graceful father,Chief Chowig is talking to the stranger which is an Aleut. Their father is tall, but the stranger was even taller! They, the Aleuts said that they had come to hunt otters. Then this wonderful story says what happened in the future. I would not tell you what happened next because I do not want to ruin the story for you !

Summary: A great book for "young adults"
Review: I read this book when I was in fourth grade and it still remains one of the books I look back upon as a childhood favorite. Not only is the story great, it teaches children about history, different cultures, and natural harmonies and balance. This book helped to spark my imagination as well. After reading it I spent many weekends prowling around my yard pretending I was the young indian girl. I believe this book is great for older children, but the many deaths in the story might proove to be too much for some kids. Definately worth the few bucks!

Summary: Wow! A Powerful Novel.
Review: Karana, who lost her mom at a young age, and watched her father die in a battle, can't bear to leave her brother running along the shore line as her and her people leave on a ship to a different land. She swims back to the island to take care of her brother and wait for the ship to return...After losing faith in the returning ship and in her ability to get to the different land, she establishes permanent living conditions on her native island. She makes many animal friends such as a wild dog, Rontu, a seal and it's family, and two pet birds. She builds weapons to protect herself and a house to shelter her and her new family. She does things that a woman of her tribe would have never attempted before and is successful... After losing so many people in her life, this ending of a friend is pretty emotional...
