Summary: Very Funny Political Book
Review: I was never a fan of Al Franken until he started doing political humor. If you are not a conservative, you should enjoy this book. He has a lot of fun making fun of Limbaugh and conservatives in general, and he's really good at it.

If you enjoy this one, check out his other political books. They are all pretty funny.

Summary: Limbaugh
Review: I've listened to Limbaugh's show a couple of times and have come to the conclusion that Limbaugh's show is not very thoughtful or compassionate. He attacks people all day on the radio and displays so little class. This book is also negative, but you get what you give, and it shows that Limbaugh is a human being with flaws, something Limbaugh seems to forget when passing judgement on everyone under the sun. Skim through it and see what a hypocrite Limbaugh is. It is just returning to Limbaugh what he has given to others. And for that, I applaud it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: And now he can be called a hypocrite too...
Review: Let's just get this out of the way now, if you can't open your mind enough to accept the fact the some of the things coming out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth may not be true, right, or based on facts, then stop reading this review, leave this page immediately and do a search for 'The Way Things Ought to Be' or one of his other books. It's too late for you.

If on the other hand, you have enough of a sense of humor to appreciate that not only is Al Franken well versed in matters of politics, but also that he is a satirical writer, then you are in for a well thought out and researched, thoroughly entertaining book. Mr. Franken hits Limbaugh with examples of Limbaugh on Air and Limbaugh in Real Life. Turns out Limbaugh has been a hypocrite for most of his adult life, so his latest turn with oxycontin doesn't really seem like much of a surprise.

Despite the title, Limbaugh is not the only one brought to task. Conservative icons like Newt Gingrich, Phil Gramm, and Pat Buchanan are also analyzed and debunked.

Overall, a clever, insightful, and thought-provoking book that should force people to always question what politicians and members of the media of any party state as fact.

Summary: Franken did what the media didn't have the guts to do!
Review: Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has had a radio program marked by recklessness, viciousness, and unintended hilarity (He once said that styrofoam was biodegradable). Until the mid-1990's, he received a free pass from the same media he excoriates as biased against the Right (Ted Koppel once said that Limbaugh does his homework; Edward R. Murrow, we need you). It took a media research group--Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting(FAIR)--and comedy writer Al Franken to do the media's job. Franken effectively nukes his target. He exposes Limbaugh as a war wimp (Rush thought the Vietnam War was great, just as long as guys from Harlem and East LA did the fighting), a former welfare queen (the same guy who calls poor people "piglets" is the same guy who was able-bodied and collected unemployment), and an overall empty suit.

For those of us who have followed Limbaugh, there's nothing particularly surprising here. But the way he scrutinizes Limbaugh is laugh-out-loud hilarious. With Franken around, there will be hard times for the hard Right.

Summary: Reverse title and you get an idea
Review: The title should really be "Some observations, one of which is that Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot".

I listened to Mort Salh on the radio a couple of weeks ago, where he complained that today's political satirists aren't up to par. Just by insulting someone they're not making a point. "Easier said than done" is a good way to summarize Mort's view. It is far more difficult to prove to your audience that a certain political figure may be an idiot than to just simply call him or her a name.

I couldn't help thinking about that when I started to read this book. Al Franken is a very entertaining writer, and much of what he says I believe, but I think he sometimes takes an almost patronizing approach with his readers. For example, on Chapter 22 (The Reagan Years: Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Liar) he shows some tables. These tables have data that show how Reagan's economic policies favored the rich, not the poor, which is exactly the opposite than what Rush had claimed. To further underline the fact that Rush had lied, Al writes in hand script, over the table, "What a d***!". Why does he have to do that? Are his readers so thick that they cannot figure that out by themselves? I felt this slightly patronizing.

Yes, Rush is a whale, but can we please stop focusing on his looks? That doesn't make him eviler.

Also, i couldn't help but get a little tired of Al tooting his own horn. Yes, we know you have a great quarterback arm, and you are sooooo funny! Stop writing about it, please!

Although the arguments in this book are not as compelling as the ones in "Lies and the Lying Liars..." (which by the way is a much better book), this is still worth a read.

Summary: God Doesn't Exist and Al Franken is Brilliant
Review: Turds? What are you 5 years old? Grow up. All these rich conservatives are trying to warp the minds of the simpleton Americans (like some of these reviewers). They use the crutch of religion to fool people into believing them. Al Franken knows this and he's not going to let some conservative moron like Rush Limbaugh get away with lying. Rush Limbaugh has the brain of a vegetable and a heart of coal (by the way, i think this is only time that Rush Limbaugh and vegetable have been used in the same sentence).

Peace
