Rating: Summary: AL Franken IS A Unfunny IDIOT! Review: (...)ONE-SIDED hardcore "LIBERAL" GARBAGE!This is the kind of material that gives the left a bad name. Along with that moron Michael Moore, Al Franken couldn't write a funny book or line if his life depended on it.This wannabe funny book makes the same claims and ONE-SIDED OPINIONS over & over and it gets tiresome very quickly. It'd be nice to see some books from some actual smart liberals with some decency behind their claims and opinions.Rush should be proud to have this book titled after him seeing that the book was written by a hardcore liberal idiot. Looks like Franken couldn't find any better material once again. If you want nothing but "an opinion" by some wannabe comedian, and no actual laughs really, then this is a book for dummy hardcore liberals that don't ever look at both sides of any issuses.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant novel from the point of view of a sociopath Review: At first I didn't get it. Was this book really about the famous American radio star Rush Limbaugh. Then it began to dawn on me. This book is actually a novel telling about the slow decline into mindless insanity of its narrator and protagonist, a sociopath who calls himself by the same name as that great American comedian Al Franken. Clever. Whoever the real author is, he has been ingenious in the way he presents the narration. Most of the time you really think that this is Al Franken speaking. But as the distortions, half-truths, and outright lies mount, the real theme of the novel becomes evident. In the era of identity theft, this novel makes a serious contribution to what could become a new genre. The twist of an identity thief writing about a fictional character and naming that character as though he were a real well-known person is diabolically clever. One of the tip-offs is that in the novel, the Al Franken character refers to Rush Limbaugh as fat. I saw Rush Limbaugh on television recently and he is not fat. So much for reality.
I think this novel would make a great movie. Rush Limbaugh could be cast as the Al Franken identity thief. It could be a tour de force. If the real Al Franken had some sort of cameo role, say, as Newt Gingrich, the movie would present some of the same twists as the novel.
Rating: Summary: Regardless of politics...Limbaugh is an IDIOT! Review: Finally someone has come out loud and clear against Limbaugh! I love how Limbaugh has bullied and criticized only the liberals, leftists and independants but yet he plays softball with the most insane and "Salem Witch Trial" type conservatives.
I did so dearly love when he was caught with drugs! Too bad Franken's book was written before that! DARN! What a missed opportunity!
Franken's book does not hold back. He quotes Rush's lies and BS, he gives the facts behind the actual story or person and regardless of what Franken thinks...the info allows you to create your own INFORMED opinion.
If your a liberal...don't read this book. You already know he is an idiot. If you are a Republican or someone on the fence...get this to teach you how the vampires conservatives and Banana-Republicans think so you can do the opposite!
Rating: Summary: Al Franken is a Turd Review: How can anyone respect or even listen to this guy. His biggest joke is himself.
Al Franken should be tapered on the end, most turds are you know!
Rating: Summary: Very funny and honest, but extreme at times Review: I am English, and picking up a random satirical political book from the shelf seemed like a good idea for learning a bit about American politics. And having a good time.I didn't like the title, because it is somewhat...confrontational. But between the covers of this aggressive book lay a very, very funny man. He combines an astute political sense with a level of indignant humanitarianism which allows him to put radical conservatives in a very bad light. Franken uses stats and figures to support his claims, but never attempts to pretend his book is any more than satire - slightly less political than P.J. O'Rourke, for example. Radical conservatives might struggle to enjoy this, but anyone with a sense of humour should be able to appreciate most of Franken's character portraits and, even better, anecdotes - for example, when he played with the President American football and made a play which won his team the game...but the President forbore to congratulate him. The quick prose is funny and witty... But...it does go a little far at times, and though I learned to share some of Franken's views on Rush Limbaugh, to whom I have never listened, I still thought some of the writing went too far. It reassured me tremendously to read in Franken's "Why Not Me" that Limbaugh himself had bumped into him and instead of pummelling him had yelled - "hell of a book!". This, and grudging praise to men such as Bob Dole gives Franken a bit more depth than an out-and-out liberal satirist with no punches pulled.
Rating: Summary: Lord God, why did you make so many stupid people? Review: I flipped this book open to a random page in a bookstore and saw a chart of Rush Limbaugh weight over the years, and they say the right is the party of hate mongers?

Rating: Summary: scathingly hilarious, hilariously scathing Review: I liked Franken's "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look At The Right" but this one was just side-splitting, rolling-on-the-floor ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!!!
It doesn't take much effort to make Swiss cheese out of such an obvious bonehead like Rush Limbaugh, but to do so with this sheer amount of consistent wit and humor is one hell of a feat. It shows considerable comedic talent on Franken's part, not to mention a pretty darn strong stomach, to do so without degenerating into just another self-indulgent, juvenile diatribe as Limbaugh, Colter, Savage, and all these other rightwing blowhards do on their syndicated programs day in and day out.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: I loved this book--I don't know when I've laughed so hard. Maybe it helps that I'm a "liberal"--but what makes this a good book rather than just a book that says things I happen to agree with is that it's clever and well-executed. The humor runs from silly to witty, but it's pretty consistently funny. It's too bad the satire seems to be lost on some people. The point of the book is that Franken is using the same methods that Rush Limbaugh & co. use in a _satirical_ fashion in order to expose these methods as ridiculous. Take his "interview" with Rush Limbaugh, modeled after the latter's "interview" with Hillary Clinton. Yes, obviously it's quite easy to come up with the same sort of "interview" with Al Franken, but that doesn't do much to hurt his case. The point of the Rush Limbaugh interview isn't so much to make Rush admit that he is indeed a big fat idiot by taking his words out of context as to make fun of the idea of such an interview as a cheap shot with which you can make anyone say anything. So you can't really use Franken's methods against him to make him out to be a hypocrite, because the basis of the book is a humorous refutation of those very methods. That's why it's funny.
Rating: Summary: Rush Limbaugh IS A BIG FAT IDIOT. Review: I read this book knowing very little about Rush Limbaugh and some of the other people like Newt Gingrich that were included in this book. After reading this extremly funny work of satire I had to buy more Al Franken books. This book tells true events turned into a great read and will leave you laughing outloud. If dislike Rush Limbaugh you will enjoy this book 100% and if you don't know who Rush Limbaugh is read this book and use it to create your opinion on one of the most repulsive men alive.
Rating: Summary: Time for volume 2 Review: I think it's time for volume 2 of Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot. Now that we have a real one sitting in the Oval Office, who Rush apparently worships merely cause he's a conservative. Rush has also been busted for drugs since the last book came out. Yeah, Rush Limbaugh caught with drugs, who would have known??? It's a wonder why him and the worlds worst Right Wing bent Rock Group have the same name!
