Rating: Summary: To all the Christians who despise this book Review: Funny how we keep hearing in negative reviews that this book is blasphemous because the author claims to have a dialogue with God and how it is not based on the Bible. Hmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Bible written by not one but MANY men who supposedly worked out of divine inspiration? Okay, so the logic here is, one man talking to God in the 20th century is rubbish, but scores of men thousands of years ago talking to Him is (of course) the One True Way. Just another demonstration of these sorts of zealots' fanatical insecurities and lack of critical thinking. The biggest fundamental complaint I've seen regarding CWG's principles is that of no judgment or sin. If you take away the scare tactics of the church--its most viable and sustaining weapon--what are you left with? A new paradigm that suggests that mankind's biggest sorrow isn't its capacity to sin but rather its refusal to recognize just how divine each and every one of us are. This is the heart of CWG, and could prove to be one of the most beneficial notions ever. Unfortunately, we collectively think too little of ourselves to ever reach this point...and so suffering and guilt and blame and fear will continue to darken our times. Those who believe that without punishment man will only maim and cause suffering need to wake up and realize that since the dawn of Christianity--when the fear of God and the Church and hell was at its apex--these things still happened...only then it was done in Christ's name. Those who bash on this book's denial of right or wrong are missing the second biggest point of CWG--we are all one (hmm, didn't Jesus say the same thing?). To choose not to cause grief because of the realization that you're only hurting yourself, that is sublime. To choose not to cause grief out of fear of divine punishment, that is simply control. This book will be enlightening to anyone who can set aside their belief systems if but for a moment, for those mature enough to understand that the path does not matter, only the destination. Die hard Christians: do not bother picking this book up--you have the Bible to validate your beliefs. But for goodness's sake, recognize there ARE other beliefs out there and THAT'S OKAY. Don't criticize an apple for not being an orange.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: Don't take it at face value. Think about it. Consider it. I think Walsch was most likely talking with his "Higher Self", but what rings true for me is that this Higher Self may very well be the part of the Self that is closest to God.Yes, according to Walsch's God, there is no damnation and condemnation. But, as he so plainly points out, there are acts you can do that will bring you closer to God, and acts that won't. People who spend much of their time committing nonloving, nonjoyous acts, or who are not following their "highest thought" are creating their own hell. The choice is up to you. By the way, the reviewer that claimed a Triune God is a uniquely Christian concept should check up on that. None of the other Abrahamic religions claim a Trinity, as well as any other mainstream religion - this is true. But the concept of a trinity is far older than Christianity. I found much of the book rang true for myself - but I entirely understand how its credibility will always be challenged. What I find to be its main message is this: God speaks to us in many ways, not just through the words of some book that has been filtered, censored, altered, translated multiple times, and written by a lot of men who never even knew the real Jesus. (Same goes for all the other religious books.) God is everywhere, in everything, and communicates to us always, in all ways.

Rating: Summary: Incredible insight and wisdom Review: Regardless of whether or not you believe the author is actually talking to God, the truth and logic is undeniable. If you can get past your previous thoughts of how God and life works, then these books will advance your life beyond your wildest dreams. Not just rheteric; a common sense approach to the cause and effect nature of life. Not just pointing out problems; giving solutions to recognizing "that which is not in your best interest" and the tools to truly move closer to that which you would like to be. Not just inspiring, rather, also practical and necessary. Be sure to clean out the mind filter before putting it into this stream of fresh air.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: Most of the stigmas for this book come from peoples stubborness to acknowledge that the bible is not infallible. Whether he really had a conversation with god or not, is pretty irrelavent on most of the issues discussed. It will offer you an extremely intersting perception on many of the religious issues that all of us have come into question with. Offensive to some close minded people, but to those who come in with an open mind, it wil offer a certain level of enlightenment that most books do not inflict.
Rating: Summary: If you can be true to your soul, this book will serve you. Review: This is a book that attacks organized religion at it's weakest point. Fear. Fear of God. Fear of ourselves. It shows us a broader and more awe-inspiring account of what God is really like. How small is your God that "he" must be vengeful and judgemental, is not the true God above such trivialities? These are the types of questions that are dealt with head on in this book series. The best "classical" evidence for this book is Jesus Christ himself. He did not hate or judge his agressors, but loved them unconditionally and completely. This series comes back to this idea again and again. Even if you don't "believe" that Walsch is actually talking to God, or if he is just having an internal dialog with himself, it still brings up such powerful observations of a perfect God, that going back to the "fire and brimstone" diety that the Christian church dares to call God is just plain absurd and counter-productive in our life. LIVE YOUR LIFE IN LOVE, NOT IN FEAR. That is the true message of God, and of this book.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: Walsh's book is wonderful! It offers a refreshing look at God as He is. I've finally found something that coincides with my beliefs.
Rating: Summary: Garbage!! Review: I have a really hard time believing this guy was "talking" to God. His books are not Biblically based, that's for sure. Conversations with God and Conversations with God for Teens are on the Scholastic Book Club list and are being sold to our children in their schools. Did anyone from this book club read these books first before putting them on the list??? Dr. James Dobson advises against getting these books and give the following as an example of what the author is teaching: For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question "Why am I a lesbian?" his answer is that she was born that way because of genetics just as you were born right-handed, with blue eyes, etc. Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences. The above goes directly against what the Bible teaches us and the same themes runs through both books, and if the author managed to get so much wrong in those two, what about the rest of them? How can a man get what the Bible teaches so wrong, and claim it comes from God?? I won't buy anything this author writes because most of it is false doctrine. Not only that, this man is targeting our children. Dr. Dobson also had this to say: Our children are under attack, so I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your kids the true Word of God and guarding their exposure to worldly media because our adversary, the devil, "roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). And how many of us know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.
