Rating: Summary: Lemony Snicket?? Review: The whole series is cute and well written, but that's not surprising if you know who Lemony Snicket is. Lemony Snicket is an unpublicized alias for J.K. Rowling. That's very true.
Rating: Summary: THE BAD BEGINNING IS A GOOD BEGINNING Review: I love THE BAD BEGINNING because it is long lasting and exciting. I would recommend this book to people ages 8 and up. I love all the different characters, I never would have been able to imagine such people.
Rating: Summary: The GREAT Bad Beginning Review: I gave five stars to The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket. It is about three children making it on their own after their parent's death. My favorite part of the story was when they found a place to live. The saddest part of the story was when their parents died and their house burned to ashes. I recommend this book to fifth graders that like to read good, but weird stories. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did!
Rating: Summary: A Truly Bad Beginning Review: This book was purchased as a gift for my 8 and 10 year olds who loved the Harry Potter series. After reading the cover, I decided to read the book before they did. I found the book to be very dark and brooding. It was billed to be for those who enjoyed "Harry Potter"... I did not find that it had any of the positive adult-child relationships found in the Potter books. "A Bad Beginning" is quite a depressing read. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Deserving 5+ Stars! Review: "The Bad Beginning" is an excellent book for young people who want a story that's to the point and fun or for other people who just want a quick and enjoyable read. The story moves quickly, there are no boring details, and the characters are likable or detestable. Lemony Snicket isn't writing a story; the reader feels more like he's telling you a story. He helps and challenges the reader with his style of writing. Be glad it is one in a series of many!

Rating: Summary: The Bad beginging Review: There were three kids. There were two girls and one boy. When they were little there parents died in a house fire. Now they have to live with a relative named Count Olaf. So Count Olaf tried to marry her and get her money. Yes i would recomend this book to a person.
Rating: Summary: Strickingly appropriate Review: I like this book and hope it brings some moral upbringing and a new zest for the fight against evil to the next generation's zeitgeist. I know we have, in the past, tried too hard to make everyone a good person. Clouding inappriate behavior in upbringing, or race, or class, and there may be some truth and understanding in this, but evil needs to dealt with directly also. I like this book. But evil is usually not so blatantly noticable as the evil of Count Olaf. It is typically misguided good people. One should know, from an early age, that life is not always fair, adults are not gods, and one should put their faith in their own enginuity and in God. Life is not always fair, or have the conclusion that one would think appropriate. This should be known.
Rating: Summary: Excitingly Scary Book Review: This is a great book for people who like Harry Potter. It is really exciting. The trouble starts out when the bad luck Boudilaires Voilet, Klaus, and Sunny when their parents are perished in a fire they must go live with horrible Count Olaf. He is crazy about eyes. They are everywhere you look in his house. He makes them do chores for no reason. He and his terrible theatre troupe put on a play called the Marvelous Marriage and Count Olaf plays Mr. nice and has the children in the play. Violet is to be the wife he marries! The children know something is up so they research in Justice Strouses library. When Klaus finds a neptual law book he reads that the only thing in their state to get married is to say I do and to sign a document in your own hand. They discover that Count Olaf is not pretending to get married he is planning to really marry Violet to steal the Boudilaire fortune. Violet refuses so Count Olaf steals baby Sunny and buts her in a birdcage dangling from the tallest tower. He says he will cut the rope holding her unless Violet will marry him. So Violet agrees. Read this book to findout if the children can find out how to escape Count Olaf's evil plan.
Rating: Summary: A great beginning to a great series Review: This book starts of the Series of Unfortunate Events with wicked good fun. The books are perfect for adults who have already read all of the Harry Potter books and want some light, imaginative reading. I've read the first seven books in the series, often in between more "serious" literature - a good way to cleanse the palate! Highly recommended for older children to adults.
