Summary: The Bad Begginging
Review: I liked this book very much. When I started to read it I couldn't put it down. I read this book in 1 hour. when the 3 Bauldelaire children find out that their parents have died in a fire they are sent to live with a horrible man named Count Oalf. Count Olaf is out to steal their fortune and will do anything to get it. Including killing one of the children.

Summary: the sadiest book
Review: A book I read this summer was called the unfortunate series of events by Lemony snakeit. The book is not that long, short and sweet you could say. It was also fun to read and had a catchy plot.

The bodlow orphans never knew that knew that their life would be so bad. When they're a little kids their house burned to the ground with their very rich parents the both died. Now they have to live with numerous of their relatives one is named count Olaf and he wants their fortune.

This book had a very catchy plot and that is of the reasons why I liked it. Another reason I liked it is because the author tells you about all these we are people that the bodlow orphans meet. I also like away into what is setup it was set out like most books you read that is my favorite type of book

You should read this book because it is very interesting and intricate plot and characters. Is good for adults and children alike you could relate to it you are an orphan. It also has a very good plot these are some other reasons why you should read this book.

I hope you enjoyed my review I hope you like this book as much as I did.

Summary: A bit of a letdown
Review: I sometimes read children's books--not as a expert, but just as a reader. I enjoyed the Harry Potter series, often re-read the Narnia series, read everything by E.Nesbit and Alan Garner, loved The Hobbit, etc., etc.

So when I read that those who longed for another Harry Potter book were now reading Lemony Snicket, I read one too.

Disappointment!

When I finished the book, I found myself wondering just how suitable this book is for children--sexual overtones between Uncle Olaf and poor soon-to-be violated Violet, discussion of the use of Molotov Cocktails, and an explanation of the term "casing out the joint."

But then I reasoned that, after all, Little Red Riding Hood has sexual overtones, so was I just being too picky? Was I trying to rate the book from the adult "is this book suitable for children" view?

So instead, I decided to abandon any such issues and stick with my enjoyment. The question was as simple as this: "Do I want to read any more books in the series?"

The answer is "no." I don't really care what happens to the Baudelaire children or their inheritance. The book lacked substance and that's enough for me to know that I'll pass on the others, thank you very much.

Summary: The bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
Review: I think this book is great because it sets off the mistery of the series. It makes you ask, "what is going on here?"

Summary: Bad Luck
Review: Have you ever thought you had the worst luck on the face of this planet? You should try reading "The Bad Beginning". The Bauldelaire children have bad luck by the fifth page, and it only goes downhill from there. It's not all bad though, some parts are very clever and bring you hope for the children. Lemony Snicket does a great job of bringing you into the story and making you feel like you are one of the children. When they are happy, you are happy. When they are sad, you are sad. The emotions get passed around like a communion tray. This book is a must-read! :)

Summary: Parents don't waste your money on this one!
Review: As a teacher, I have read this for a book group run in my district. Normally I look forward to reading these books. I was frankly disgusted from beginning to end. From the moment the parents burn to death in their house, to the irritatingly intrusive explanations of words, I was completely turned off. I was further disturbed to see the sexual overtones of the cousin, assigned to raise the children, devise a plan to marry the oldest girl (still a young teen) for their fortune. When the plan is foiled the cousin steals the youngest and threatens to drop her from a great height! I looked on [online store] to find out why kids liked it and was completely confounded by the amount of adults who thought this book clever! I hope parents read this review. It has too many mature themes for 4th graders and is too young for teens. I can't see in what age group this fits. I have an open mind when it comes to books, but I implore you to choose something else to read!

Summary: Full of Unfortunate Event
Review: Has many unfortunate events, but that's what makes it so enjoyable. Its not your average book, its even better. This book is lots of fun to read.

Summary: Do humanity a favor. . .
Review: If you've bought this book, do not return it to the store. Rip out the pages and toss it in the recycling bin. Yes, you'll be out some money, but there will be one less copy of this book (here meaning random words thrown together without meaning, character, plot, theme, or purpose printed onto paper, bound together, and sold at an enormous effort to profit ratio) polluting the planet. I don't think I've ever read a book more clearly meant solely to line the author's and publisher's pocket. No redeeming value whatsoever. Horribly written, dull, depressing, and not even interesting enough to be called one-dimensional.

Summary: witty
Review: I had received this book on Christmas of 2001 from my sister (who works at a book store), and hadn't really thought anything of it. After 5 months, maybe more, I started to read it out of boredom. I found it extremely exciting! Sure it isn't action packed, but it is so well written that you can't wait to see what Snicket will write next. This really isn't a book for most people. It's dreary and sad, but for those who enjoy a witty author, a good plot, and can see past the drearyness to then understand a bit of the humor that comes into this book, than it should be a most enjoyable read.
