Summary: If You're Looking for Excitement...
Review: I have read the first four books in A Series of Unfortunate Events and I am a great fan of Lemony Snickets' books, but this is my favourite out of the first four books. Since it's the first book, you should read it first. The series will make more sense to you, because the secrets are all in the first book.

The Bad Beginning is about three little children. Violet Baudelaire was the oldest. She was 14 years of age, and loved inventing things. Klaus was the middle one, who was 12 years old, and loved reading. The youngest Baudelaire was Sunny. She loved to bite things with her four sharp teeth.

The children were all on the beach one day, when suddenly, Mr.Poe (a friend of their parents) came by and said: 'I'm afraid I've got some bad news for you, your parents have just died in a terrible fire. I've made some arrangements, and you'll have to be sent to a distant relative named Count Olaf.' (Just by that name, you can tell he's evil!)

At their new home, they were like slaves to Count Olaf. But Count Olaf had a very nice next door neighbour, where the three Baudelaires spent their time when they had nothing else to do.

The three children got a huge fortune from their parents after they died. But they could only use the fortune when Violet became of age. Count Olaf schemed to marry Violet (illegally), so he could steal the money, kill the children, and run away with his associates.

Count Olaf is really greedy, especially when it comes to the Baudelaire fortune. He would do anything to get his hands on that money! And I mean anything!

This book is really good. If you don't believe me, well, a lot of people hate reading! In fact, they hate it so much that they loathe it! But the only books they like to read are...? You guessed it! The Series of Unfortunate Events!!!

The best character, (well, according to me) is Count Olaf, because he is so mean and nasty. Who knows when he'll show up and give you a fright! The worst character in the book is Mr. Poe, because he's boring and when the children need him, he's not there to help!

But the book is still really good. It's so good that it's no wonder kids are reading it everywhere!

Summary: 10 Times Better Then Harry Potter!!!
Review: This book is my favorite on Earth! Well, actually I LOVE the series, but anyway. If you're looking for a great book to read buy this one. They aren't very hard or long. My 3rd grade brother read them in 2nd grade. They are full of suspense and you never want to put them down.
The story starts at Briny Beach, when Violet, Klaus and Sunny learn that their parents have died in a fire. They have to live with their banker finds a place for them to live. When he finally does they're really happy because they dread Poe's house. They go to live with Count Olaf. Read the book to find out the rest.
I have got at least 5 people to start reading these books and no one has regretted it. Even my dad reads these books! GO BUY THEM!!!

Summary: Better that Harry Potter!
Review: This book is an excallent book along with the other 8 books. This makes you want to read on and never stop. I personally went crazy until the 9th book came out and will be crazy until the 10th is out. Lemony Snicket talks to the reader with his own made up personal experience and explains things. If you have read Harry Potter, I highly suggest these books! To learn more before reading them.

While you read these you will be encouraged to read the other 8. I highly reccomend this book to all the readers out there.

In this book, there is an enormous amount of suspense and you don't have to wait until the end of the book the get into it! I loved this first book, and I am 15 years old. Summary: A Miserably Good Read
Review: This series is finally getting some much deserved recognition (a spot on CBS' Sunday Morning sure can't hurt sales). And while some may wonder if Lemony and his creations are doomed to the perils of hype, I for one probably wouldn't have bothered reading this first book if it were not for the hype. I must say I found "The Bad Beginning" to be enjoyable in a most delectibly wicked way. This is not the Great American Novel, nor is it even Harry Potter, but then it was not intended to be either. Shades of Roald Dahl come to mind, but not to the point where this seems like pure imitation. It is indeed pure inspiration and I delight in the fact that children can peruse these sophisticated tales of morbid melodrama.
