Summary: THERE IS HOPE
Review: SINCE READING THIS BOOK, NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T THINK HOW LUCKY I WAS AS A CHILD AND HOW UNFORTUNATE SOME OTHERS ARE. DAVID SHARES SUCH EMOTION WITH HIS READERS. HIS CHILDHOOD WAS A HORRIFIC NIGHTMARE THAT BRINGS TO A HEAD THE AWFUL TRUTH ABOUT CHILD ABUSE AND EACH PERSONS RESPONSIBLITY IT IS TO BE WATCHFUL OF THESE SITUATIONS. WE MUST, AS DAVID HAS, BE HOPEFUL. HOPEFUL THAT EACH CHILD WE SEE DOESN'T LIVE THE MISERY THAT DAVID DID. EVERY PERSON, TEACHER, CLERGY, COMMUNITY LEADER, MEDICAL PERSONNEL, STORE CLERK OR NEIGHBOR MUST BE THE EYES AND EARS FOR A CHILD WHO MAY BE IN A SITUATION THEY CANNOT BE FREED FROM WITHOUT HELP. THIS BOOK HAS MADE A DEEP IMPRESSION ON ME. DAVID HAS A GIFT....LIFE. SO MANY OTHERS, IN FLORIDA, AND ACROSS THE NATION, HAVE DIED BECAUSE NO ONE KNEW. THANKS YOU.

Summary: A CHILD CALLED IT, HOW IT HELPED ME
Review: A CHILD CALLED IT, IS UPLIFTING FOR ME. IT HELPED ME UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NORMAL. I WAS ABUSED AS A CHILD, NOT AS SEVERELY AS DAVID, BUT IT MADE AN IMPACT ON MY LIFE. I AM NORMAL. MY UNEXPLAINED FEELINGS OF SORROW AND ANGER, ARE NORMAL. THIS BOOK HELPED ME KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHERS WITH SIMILAR BACKGROUNDS. IT IS SAD TO READ THE BOOK, BUT THIS IS REALITY. WHEN DAVID, IN BOOK 2 TALKS ABOUT COMMERCIAL BREAKS, AND HOW HE DREADED THEM, I CAN RELATE WITH THAT. HOW CAN WE STOP THE CIRCLE OF ABUSE, UNLESS WE ACKNOWLEDGE IT? WE NEED TO ADMIT, CONFRONT THE ABUSE, AND FROM THERE GO ON, AND BETTER OURSELVES AND OUR WAY OF HANDLING THINGS. I THINK THAT DAVID PELZER IS A BRAVE MAN. I HAVE NEVER TALKED ABOUT MY ABUSE, AND NEVER KNEW HOW, UNTIL I READ HIS BOOK. THESE BOOKS HAVE BEEN A SORT OF THERAPY FOR ME. I AM A GOOD PERSON, AND I CAN SAY IT NOW. I JUST HOPE THAT ALL WHO READ IT, LEARN FROM IT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

Summary: Most wonderful
Review: This book was a great inspiration. The first time I read it, I cried most of the way through it. Even now, my vision blurs as I read. David is a wonderful man, who deserves not only our respect, but all our love. I have read "The Lost Boy" and "A Man Called Dave" and they are just as wonderful. "Let us not forget our children..." With this book, let us not forget ALL our children.

Summary: Absolutely Incredible
Review: I happened to come across this book in a store. I never heard of it for the author. For some reason I bought it. It is an incredible story of endurance of a young child whose parents were, to say the least, unfit to breed. The things he endured and suffered for no apparent reason are inspriational. Everyone who reads this book will feel an incredible love for their own children and a great deal of appreciation for David Pelzer. He is truly a miracle of God to endure his childhood and end up they way he has.

Summary: Missed the point
Review: I didn't understand why this book was written. I picked it up expecting something along the lines of Torrey Hayden books, where the child overcomes great obstacles but still shows that hope springs eternal. This books just detailed the abuse. There was nothing in the book that showed any hope until the last chapter, where the author skipped ahead twenty years and told us that his life was great now. I wanted to see some more of the steps along the way. Was the book written just to show what kinds of people abuse children? Was it just a spectator book, where we can read it and feel good that we had been more lucky in our lives?

Summary: The most touching book that I have ever read
Review: A Child called it is in my opinion one of the most touching books ever written about child abuse. It really brings the reader into the story and you cannot put it down until it is finished. There are two sequals to this book. The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave. I reccommend them highly.

Summary: A Child Called It
Review: As a foster parent, I found this to be one of the best that I have read. It kept me interested to the end. Great reading. I finished in just a few hours. Couldn't put it down.

Summary: The most compelling and life changing book of the year!
Review: THIS STORY HAS MADE ME RELIZE HOW LUCKY I AM! IT WAS WRITTIN BY A WONDERFUL MAN! THE COURAGE THIS YOUNG MAN SHOWED MADE ME THINK ABOUT HOW WE TAKE ALMOST EVERYTHING AROUND US FORGRANTED! MY CHURCH SUPPORTS A GROUP CALLED "CASA" IT PROTECTS CHILDREN WHO DON'T HAVE ANYONE TO REPRESENT THEM IN COURT AFTER BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM THIER HOMES. AFTER READING THIS BOOK I DECIDED TO BUY A THREE YEAR OLD CHILD NAMDE ASHLEY A CHRISTMAS PRESENT. THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES ME SAD ABOUT GIVING UP MY ALLOWENCE FOR A MONTH IS THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE HER FACE LIGHT UP WHEN SHE RECIVES HER ONLY PRESENT FOR CHRISTMAS! I AM CURRENTLY READING THE SEQUEL AND I RECOMEND IT TO ALL OF YOU!
