Summary: A Book that All Adults Should Read!
Review: A Child Called "IT" by Dave Pelzer is an extraordinary book because it spoke to my heart on the reality of Child Abuse and Neglect. I too, was a child and a young adult who was abused every way possible. Except with the neglect aspect. I spend my time now promoting the preventional need to stop such horror. I even went as far as writing a childrens book on the subject. A healing process for me I suppose. The author did a wonderul job in writing in the voice of a child. This is a book that should be read by each and every adult who has children or the young adult who is thinking about having them. Mr. Pelzer definately has my vote and I can not wait to read many more of his books. A Job well done!

Summary: Way To Go Dave !
Review: I have NEVER read a book that grabbed me the way "A Child Called It","The Lost Boy", & "A Man Named Dave" did!I think every teacher, mother, father, human should read these books. All thru the 3 books I had to keep asking myself "why & how could a mother do this to her child!" Also how can a father just walk out without stopping the abuse! Dave Pelzer is a "HERO"! Anyone who can go thru what he did & still be a good person should be commended!

Summary: GREAT BOOK
Review: This book is GREAT! I hate to read and I had to read a book for a book report project foe school. So, I have heard A LOT about this book and how good it is. So I went out and got it. I thought I wouldn't like it but the day I got it I started reading it. I read 60 pages in one night the most pages I have ever read in one night was like 6 or 7. And the time seemed to pass so fast cause this book is so good(it almost made me cry and wanna yell at that mother). I finished the book in 5 nights. Best book I have ever read. I went out and got the second book to it.

Summary: Review
Review: This book was heart-stopping. I could not put it down once I started. After finishing, I immediately ordered the other 2 in the series. I would like to have an update as to what happened to the mother and other children. My heart goes out to David and his current family. Love prevails.

Summary: HARROWING
Review: This is one of the most brutal accounts of child abuse I have ever encounted. It sickened me to think that such things could be done for so long without anyone suspecting the agony the young Dave Pelzer was going through. Or, worse yet, suspecting and doing nothing to alleviate it.

The first in a trilogy, this book highlights the abuse dealt Dave by his estranged mother up until age ten. It left me feeling slightly numb.

I give this book four stars because the story is so...horrendous. It is unlike anything I've read before. The style of writing, however, may discourage people seeking a 'grown up' account of the events that transpired from reading it. It is a book seen through the eyes of a child, and reads like it. It is relatively short, too (I finished in less than an hour at Coles). Despite these (unavoidable?) shortcomings, the pervading feeling I get from the author himself, as a child, was that he was a fiesty and courageous little boy, living under some of the most damaging circumstances known to man, and not only surviving but excelling at life. In that respect, the message of hope this book delievers is well worth the cover price.

Dave Pelzer doesn't use his true-life story to obtain pity or friends, but instead speak out against the secretive horrors (and pervasive nature) of childhood physical and mental abuse (as well as some other actions that I can't seem to find classification for).

Thank you, Dave, for making a difference.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: As the Editor of Child Abuse & Recovery for Suite101.com, and an incest and abuse survivor, I am always looking for information, web sites, and books that will let other survivors know that there is hope. A Child Called "It" is a book I would highly recommend for any survivor. I read the book in about 4 hours. The story may be triggering for many survivors and I am not ashamed to say that in several places, I cried,I screamed, I swore. We need more books like these, more survivors to speak out! Shout it loudly and do not be afraid! The truth will set us free! I commend Mr. Pelzer for his courage, tenacity and perserverance and thank him for writing this book.

Summary: Parenting 101: Required Reading List
Review: "A Child Called 'It'" made me sick. I loved it. David Pelzer is a new American hero who epitomizes courage and makes the problems of daily living--no matter how badly we THINK we have it-- look like a Sunday picnic. I'm going to put this book on my gift list for every wimp whiner and crier who dares complain how tough he has it. Want to know what a bad is? David Pelzer had years of bad days.

Summary: A Child Called "It", The Lost Boy, A Man Named Dave
Review: These will be three of the best books that you will ever read! The trilogy is packed with emotion -- the fear, rejection, pain, endurance, determination, perserverence, and the ultimate triumph of his inspiring life that will touch your heart at the turn of every page. Dave Pelzer, a compelling author, has overcome every obstacle and withstood every test of his humanity to become one of the leading child abuse advocates of today. You owe it to yourself, your children, and all children, to learn from Dave's auto-biographies and to receive the vital message that he is destined to give.
