Review: This book was very interesting. The author did a great job of being descriptive and informative. David Pelzer was a little boy who was abused by his mother for many years. His father tried to stand up for him, but after awhile David's mother was just too controlling. Everytime David's mother would hurt and abuse him, I was appalled that someone would have that much hate in their body. The worst abuse would come when David's father and brothers were out of the house. When his mother would beat him, David would try to count the seconds until they would come home and "save" him from his evil mother. David's life was pretty normal with his family until one day when his mother got mad at the kids and abused David. Life was never the same for their family. His school was the place where he would feel safe and even happy. His home was in a normal neighborhood and they had neighbors who had no idea of what would happen inside the walls of the house. Whenever a neighbor would ask the mother why David couldn't play outside with the rest of the kids, his mother would always come up with some excuse like "He is sick" or "He has to work on a project for school." As you can see, David's mother didn't want anyone to know the "family secret." The theme of this book is courage. David always had courage and that courage helped him survive.

Summary: For The Love Of His Mother
Review: I just recently read "A Child Called 'It'," and it was an excellent book! I can't believe that after all of the stuff that his mother did to him, he still stood up for her and denied that she ever hit him. His father is a ruthless coward...for a father to be watching the mother beat the crap out of him is just cruel. He's a man, and a firefighter, why didn't he help his dieing son. David is an amazing person, and I really look up to him. This book has made me appreciate things more than I ever have before. I feel no pity for that woman...his so called Mother...She was so cruel that I just wanted to be in the book and help David. This will really open your eyes to Child Abuse, and maybe make you think about all of the other hundreds of kids that are being abused each year. I recommend this to everyone. It is a GREAT book.

Review: A Child Called "It" is a very interesting book. Some of the situations described in this story are grotesque and disturbing. This book involves a very cruel and hard-to-swallow case of child abuse. David Pelzer was abused starting at age four and finally ending, after a long eight years, when he was tweleve. David's mother beat him severely and starved him for days. At one point, he went without food for ten days. These are not the only things she did to him. David's mother tortured him in ways not thought of by another human. She tried to wipe his existence from the earth, she even began calling him "it". David's struggle to survive proved his courage and determination. The situations he describes leaves you with tear-filled eyes and your heart reaching out to him. I give this book four stars. I think it's a very good book and I would recommend this book to those interested. But, please be warned of the disturbing and grotesque content.

Summary: "A Dark Tale of Child"
Review: This book was a true story about the life a little boy named David Pelzer and his struggle to survive aganist all odds. David's mother brutally beats and starves him for days. She finds twisted games to play and treats him as if he a slave, a nobody, an "It". While reading this tear-jerking novel you feel many different emotions... hatered for the mother, love and campassion for David, disgust with the father and yet sympothy for the family as a whole. Throughout the novel and each struggle David goes through you feel yourself feeling some of his pain. I highly recommend this book "A Child Called It" for many reasons... mostly awareness of child abuse. Child abuse goes beyond hitting and this novel is the perfect example that it does.I highly recommend this book, I truely enjoyed it and I think you will too!

Summary: A Child's Love
Review: I was assigned to read A Child Called It for my college communications class. I was somewhat surprised that we were reading a book for that class because it is supposed to focus on speaking and preparing ourselves for college level classes. After finishing the novel, I understand why my teacher felt that this book was necessary for us to discuss. The novel pulled us into many deep discussions, and opened my eyes to the reality of life. I read about David's childhood in less than a week. I never wanted to set the book down; I felt sorry for him and was always waiting for something good to happen to him. I was truly disturbed with the brutality of David's mother. Her actions have made me more compassionate towards my peers and children. I don't know what everyone's home life is like, therefor I should be skeptical when I judged their behavior. I never know when school might be the only place in which they feel loved and welcomed, and I should not put them down but lift them up and show them that they are special and important. I think that the disgusting details in A Child Called It were incredibly important. Without the gross discription of the diaper scene, or his wound, I wouldn't have understood what David went through. I wanted to understand how David felt, and his perception of his mother and her emotions through all of the situations. I think that with reading this book, I understand children better. Pelzer went through his thought process and told about his good memories that he had of his mother. He also said that he doesn't hate his mother either, and he reaches out to children suffering from child abuse. I am aware of how children feel, and their everlasting love, and I would never want to destroy their perfect image of life and adults. I think that A Child Called it should be a mandatory read for all high school seniors. It gives them an idea of what goes on in life and teaches them better parenting skills. A Child Called It softened my heart, and made me feel for David. I definitely recomend this book.

Review: If there are any books out there that you should just take time out and read. I personally would recommend reading the novel" A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer.the sstory that has taken place is based on true, factual tales of a little boy named Dave, who has to deal with the struggle of brutal, torturas child neglect from ages 4 to age 12. How having a hero in his life, his father, and that one day believing he will rescue him from his Mother's cruel "games." I would strongly recommend this book "A Child Called It" to anyone that has an open mind to the great detail of bruality to a child. It informs you on the real abuse that may go on right next door, and you may not know the signs to catch. This book in my opinion is very informative and once you pick it up you will never put it down to the end.

Review: A Child Called It is a first person account from David Peltzer who was abused from the time he was 4 years old untill the time he was 12. David recounts his memories with a "no-holds-barred" approach. You will actually feel his pain as he is stabbed, burned, and forced to eat the unimaginable along with many other hurtful things. You will find your self asking questions such as "How can a mother do this to her own child? Why just one of her children? Why did it take so long for him to recieve help?" David expresses his feelings on what he felt like being sent to school everyday for 2 years in the same dirty clothes and how he felt when even his dad couldn't, or wouldn't save him. My question is, How does someone not HATE the person who put them through this abuse? David is a truely remarkable person. He is extermely courageous to have survived through 8 long years of something that I can not describe any other way except as a living hell. This book is both a heartwrencher and an inspirational story that I think anyone would benefit from reading.

Summary: Brutally disturbing
Review: In my college communications class, one of our assignments was to read this book. After all the moaning and groaning, I cracked it open and read it from cover to cover in just two days. Many thoughts and emotions ran through my head as I read this. To have a mother just as the woman is to have a mother as the grim reaper. I used to think my mother was a low life until I read and saw throught the eyes of little David. Gas chambers, drinking poison, starvation and many other cruelties were performed to the boy or "it" from the ages of 4 through 12 by this monstrousitiy he called mother. He had to steal food and skip school just to survive, he was known as a bad boy at school until the nurse found out why he was doing all of this. In the beginning, he had the perfect life. Mother and Father were always together and merry, his two older brothers and him always played together and there was no violence in between anyone. But as soon as he turns four everything changes. To get all the information about this book, you'll have to read it. I gave away enough of the book so you could be interested in it. I do recommend this book to you but with caution. If you don't like scary movies, child violence or disturbing images, then beware! You'll be doubled over and throwing up.
