Rating: Summary: A Great Book to Read in Study Hall Review: The book started when his family lived a very good life. David's dad works and his mom was a stay-at-home mom. David has two brothers. Then all a sudden, David's mom and dad became alcoholics and would beat and not feed David. His mother would do most of that and his dad would try to stop it, but his mother would keep on doing it. David would have to do all of his chores before he would go to school. His Breakfast would be the rest of his brother's breakfast. He would get stabbed and would wear the same cloths everyday to school. What I liked about the book was that it was interesting and made you feel like you are their. There was nothing in the book that I didn't like. This the first book of the series. This book is nothing like the book that I have read before. You can find the book at in the library.
Rating: Summary: The Realizations: Review: Marissa Unison, A reviewer, I have been a non-fiction readers for years, recently turning to Memoir style books. Then I read a book called Nightmares Echo, This story told about child abuse and sexual abuse of a particular child. It was then that I set my sites on books with this type of subject. It led me to this book, A Child Called It. This has got to be one of the worst cases of child abuse I think I have ever read about. It is told in a matter of fact, no holds barred style. It is an awakening to the reader as to what actually takes place with a child that lives through and deals with a life such as this. The courage is astounding. If you do anything, get involved. Read about child abuse, read A Child Called It...see what is happening around us. Get involved to help stop it in some way.[...]

The worst case of abuse, child abuse.. This book delves into the mind and in to the pain that he have had to live with similar to that of the reality based/courageous 'NIGHTMARES ECHO',is poignant like that of 'RUNNING WITH SCISSORS', and a sorrowful like that of 'FINDING FISH'. This is a must read book!!

Rating: Summary: A Heartbreaking Story Review: This book is really heartbreaking. To know that something like this was based on a true story is really sad. I don't understand how someone could be so cruel to his or her own child. If you want to read a story that would really make you appreciate your parents or even your children I recommend that you read the book A Child Called "IT" because it will make you think.
Rating: Summary: Mindblowing could not put it down Review: This book could change your life. Nearly all of my friends and family and co-workers have now read it. This is a true story of one of the worst cases of child abuse in Califonia history. It is so shocking that it is required reading in many college programs for social workers. I am more than troubled by the reviews below, as they lack intelligence. If you are looking a literay work, read Hemmingway, if you are looking for a book that will open your eyes to a whole new world that you did not know existed, or did not want to know, this is the book for you.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: (...)A Child Called It is about a boy named Dave, Dave is the Black Sheep of the family and is constantly abused by his mother. Everyday throughout his childhood is a fight to survive. (...) Evaluation: I thought that this book was really good. I don?t read very much, unless it is for a project or required. My sister who reads a lot recommended this book to me and she told me that this would be one of the best books I ever read. As I started reading this book I found that it is really hard to set down. It seemed interesting at first but as I kept reading it became better and better. For me it is usually really hard to find a book that interests me. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a reader or is not.
Rating: Summary: A Child Called "It" Review: This novel was a true stomach churner. Reading the ways a mother abuses her own son was a hard thing to do. To see in text, and then in my imagination, the pain this boy must have felt brought a tear to my eye. Hoping that as soon as possible someone, anyone, would say something to the police to stop the abuse was always on my mind. Knowing that there are children even today that are being abused is bone chilling. This novel really brought that fact into my head. Wanting to help children, even if that just means bringing a smile to their face to getting them out of an abusive situation, is something this book really makes you think about. All in all, this book was a great book. I ranked it at a 4.5 out of 5.
Rating: Summary: Good book-Easy Read Review: Just finished this book in about a week-which is good for me. Very easy read but very disturbing. I can't imagine what this child had to go thru and it's amazing he lived to tell about it. At times, however, I felt as if I could beleive all that was happening. I know that child abuse is severe and horrible, but for some reason, I had doubts throughout this book. Felt kind of guilty not believing everything that he went through but that's just my take. Well worth the read and I look forward to reading his other 2 books.
