Summary: A small boy's struggle....to survive
Review: A Child Called it, by David Pelzer, was a very good book. It's about a little boy's story about how he got abused by his alcoholic mother. She burns him on the stove and sticks him in the bathroom alone for hours with amonia. At the end of the book he is still with his mother, but theres a sequal. I really liked this book because it was told by the boys point-of-view, so you feel very sympathetic for him. I wanted to help him. This book was a little depressing but it made me realize how lucky I really am.

Summary: A CHILD CALLED IT
Review: I THINK THIS BOOK IS THE BEST BOOK YOU CAN EVER READ. I GAVE IT FIVE STARS. IT'S ABOUT A CHILD WHO GETS BEATEN BY HIS DRUKEN MOTHER. SHE HAS NO LOVE FOR HIM. DAVE HAS OTHER BORTHERS BUT THE MOTHER ACTS NORMAL AND CAREING WITH THEM. SHE IS SO HORRIBLE TO DAVE SHE DOES THINGS SUCH AS STICK HIS HEAD IN A DIRTY DIPPER AND BURNS HIS HAND ON A STOVE. SHE IS SO SICK. I THINK YOU SHOULD READ THE LOST BOY. I THINK THIS THIRD BOOK A MAN NAMED DAVE PELZER IS NOT AS GOOD AS THESE ONES. BUTACHILD CALLED IT AND THE LOST BOY ARE VERY GOOD BOOKS.

Summary: Most Horrid Child Abuse case in California!!!
Review: A child who is no longer called by his name David he is not a boy either but now an "It'. A child who has no love from his mother, a mother who beats him, a mother who used to be nice and considered him as a boy her boy. The things that happens to him in the book are horrid things, beatings and ammonia and clorox gas chamers. Also their are many other horrid forms of abuse. Nobody really knows why his mother started to beat him but their may be some things that may seem that it is the reason but no one can tell.

It may be that they are in Dave Pelzer's other books but you can't tell until you read them all. So now he is getting beat and he can't play with his brothers when his mother is around and that is most of the time. Their are some very horrid things that happen to Dave.
There is a very miraculous thing happens to Dave but you can't know what happens until you read the book and the three books that follow it.

Summary: A horrifying account of abuse and childhood bravery
Review: Dave Pelzer gives a very detailed description of the third worst child abuse case in California. Everyday for this young boy is a struggle for love, acceptance, food, and to survive. David's mother, an abusive alcoholic who also suffers from depression, abuses him to a point he even questions his belief in God. As you read this book your heart will ache for David and the millions of other children abused everyday. This book gives an inside look at child abuse that every one should experience.

Summary: A Child called "It" by Dave Pelzer
Review: ...
My husband and his 7 siblings lead this sort of childhood. The father just turned his head.
It is people, ..., who never will "get involved". They turn a blind eye to the most atrocious crime in our society.
I attempted to help my two step-daughters but no one would listen. Our child protection agency of this state told me that I could be charged with filing a false report.
Dave Pelzer is a very brave man to tell his story and should be commended.
Instead of harping on his poor wtiting technique.
Sometimes, with this kind of story, it is best to let the author convey his own feelings in his own way. Editing loses this basic feeling of raw emotions.
Perhaps his writings will save other children from a similar fate.
His recovery is miraculous, not all children are so fortunate

Summary: Heartfelt and Heartbreaking
Review: I could not believe some of the things the mother did to this poor child. It truly is one of the worst child abuse cases in history. If you read this book, be ready for a lot of things that may be hard to read. In this book, David talks about being burned, starved, even put into a makeshift gas chamber. However, there is also hope and we are able to see his amazing courage. While you need to be emotionally ready to read this book, I would recommend it to everybody, it's one of those stories that just has to be told.

Summary: A Great Man of Survival
Review: After seeing Dave Pelzer on the Oprah show, I just had to buy his first book 'The Child Called It". Well needless to say, if you truly love children you'll need a box of tissue to get through this first book. I am now Dave's third book in the series, A Man Called Dave. I shared these books with four other people and they all swear that if they ever met Dave's mother they'd probably end up in prison for what she did to this man as a boy and even later on in life. It is truly remarkable that "any" human being could possibly survive such a life like Dave has lived. Especially, when you see him on TV, he seems like such a wonderful person who has survived such a monumental life of torture at the hand of his insane mother. I can't say enough to those who read this review that when you order the first book, you'll be forced into ordering his other two. We truly found it so compelling of a story that when we all finished each book we couldn't wait to start the next hopefully to find that the wicked witch of the west would finally get hers. God Bless Dave Pelzer. There definitely will be a place in heaven for Dave when the time comes for him.

Summary: Worth reading - Poorly written
Review: It is a tale worth reading and very touching, but I have to agree with previous reviewers who ask how this book was published without major editing. The writing is atrocious.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: This book was very touching yet a very sad story. It was about a little boy name Dave getting abused by his mother. This mother of his was not his biological mother, she was his foster mother. His biological mother would hurt and abuse him so the state placed him in a foster home with a mother that won't abuse and torture him. But it turned out that this mother would do the same thing to Dave. She would torture him by puching, kicking, throwing, or doing whatever she can do in her power to hurt this innocent poor boy. After reading this book it made me feel so bad for Dave Pelzer because i can never ever imagine the torture and agony that Dave went through. I also think the book was very well written because it was so detailed. i really like this book.
