Summary: The child that brings hope
Review: After reading this book I was disgusted, saddened, sick, but also hopeful. Yes, I know that may sound surprising but it's true. This man went through so much as a child and lived to tell about it. This just goes to show that anything is possible with hope, God, and pure will power. Reading this book made me realize a few things. First how important life is and how lucky I am. There are so many people out there that are being abused and have it very hard. It makes me realize that I can't take things for granted and that at any moment things can be taken away from us. This was a great book with a lot of great lessons. I would recomend it to anyone.

Summary: A book to learn from
Review: "A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer is such a captivating book that it's hard to believe it is actually based on true events. The book does a phenomenal job at putting the reader in the passenger seat during the drive through the very delicate issue of child abuse through young David's eyes. The reality of child abuse is thrown at the reader's face and captures your attention from beginning to end. Although the book is great at description and detail this may be hard to handle by some. There are many graphic events that may prove too much for many readers. The fear created in the book wraps around the reader and pulls you into the world of the writer. You will find yourself there with David, experiencing his emotions and thoughts. It is hard to believe that such tragic events exist in the U.S and in the world. This will definitely be an eye-opener for many people. If you thought not getting the toy you wanted, or being grounded every now and then was a tough childhood, this will definitely give you a reality check. From a scale of 1-10 I give this book a 10. I recommend this book to those who are looking for a book that is worthwhile and that they will learn from. In some cases this book may be a tearjerker, in others it may provoke you to get up and save all the abused children in the world. Whatever the case, it will leave you captivated and amazed.

Summary: A Child Called It
Review: Dave Pelzer bravely tells the story of his abusive childhood. He was brutally neglected by his mother and his father was powerless to stop it. Somehow, Dave managed to stay strong and determined and that led to his survival. This is by far Dave Pelzer's best book in his series. This is a tough book to read at times because it is very detailed and graphic, but the fact that it is true makes it all the more interesting and worth reading. This is the best example of human strenght that I have ever found in a novel.

Summary: Christina's thoughts, listen up!
Review: I certainly would recommend this book anyone. It's a very sad story, but very remarkable. I think this book is a blessing for many children who've been in Dave's position. It is a very couragous story and a real eye-opener! I think that Dave is hero to many for telling his story. Because of him many children will be able to get out of abusive situations before it is too late. I think Dave Pelzer is an amazing person to have come out of such a terrible situation with such an amazingly positive outlook. I would also recommend reading the other two in the series: The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave.

Summary: child abuse
Review: Fast-paced action and quick and clever dialogue keep you on the edge of your seat with Dave Pelzer's A Child Called "It." Amazingly, A Child Called "It" is a biography and true story on the lifestyle of a little boy. The author really gets through to you about all the horrific things that happened to him. The story is about a boy terribly beaten, starved for weeks, and a mom who treats her son like her slave. Personally, I can't imagine being in his shoes. In some parts of the book I read what happened to him and I could not believe it is possible to treat a human being like that. If you really want to read an action packed book, I highly suggest A Child Called "It."

Summary: Frank and honest account of abuse
Review: I always knew I wasn't the only abused child who knew I was worth more than I was treated as. Dave's thoughts as a child, knowing that he would win if he could just stay alive and not let his mother know how much he hurt mirrored my tactics with my father. I read this in one take, proud of Dave for moving into adulthood successfully. Refusing to use his childhood as an excuse to ruin his life once it was in his own hands.
If you really want to understand child abuse, whether for yourself or to know your loved one better, read this book. Hope radiates through the burning, starving and gassing of this beautiful little boy.

Summary: a child called it
Review: I first read this book with little or n understanding of what its was about. I only picked up the book due to a friend saying that they had read it.
This book is not only excellent but it will also give you an insight of the torture and abuse of what a child can go through at the whim of a parent. it describes the daily routine of what he might of gone through on a regular basis.

Summary: A childs story of life
Review: A Child Called It
Dave Pelzer

"I finally told myself, if I cry I die." This is a quote said by Dave Pelzer in his book that is telling of his survival within his own home, as he fights everyday just to keep going. He is brutally tortured by his mother everyday of his life after about the age of four, and this book tells of his will to survive, and how he copes the pain. His life takes a dangerous turn every time he tries to eat at school since his mother does not feed him at home.

I found this book interest because wanted to find out how his mother had treated him, what injuries he had received, and how, and why she was like that. As I read of the ways his mother had treated him, I wanted to know more of how the end came to be. This became the page turning motivation for me. This book became hard to concentrate on how everything was going and to keep track of it all because you felt so sorry for him. But I felt no connection to him, except for his father, who reminded of mine in the beginning only. I did not enjoy the writing, because it was written as how much he had hated his mother, and his longing for the past, which had bored me a little with the book. But the turning point of the book was when he was rescued from his mother, who was the first chapter, and that I will say was the best part of the book. But over the entire plot was unbelievable. I thought that the book would not be as dramatic as it had turned out to be. I thought that it was just a bunch of slaps in the face, which was a total shock to me.

Summary: A touching story of one child's struggle to survive.
Review: I would recomend this book mainly for women. It is a touching story on a childs struggle to survive. It was so good I read it in two days. His mother is an alcoholic and she abuses him. I think some of the book is a little disturbing, but it is all the truth. David Pelzer, the author, is in fact is the little boy that gets abused in this book. I cannot wait to read the sequal.
