Summary: I have read better
Review: I would first like to say that The story in itself was very horrible and awful. But I think the way it was layed out was just as awful. All the other books I have read about abuse have been in one single book. I think it was a poor move to split the story into two books. I will not buy the second. While I want to know what happens, I won't pay the money. The story could have been easily fit into one book. ( I think it was a sad excuse for more money) I have also read several better books. Torey L. Hayden Has written 6 wonderful books, that show the abuse in it's entirity. I just wish those books made the Best Sellers List. I'm sorry for what happened to this man. And the story was capitivating.

Summary: A BOOK WE SOULD ALL READ.sEATTLE,wa
Review: 'A Child Called IT' is a very depressing story. I was just surfing amazon.com one day and I came to the author Dave Pelzer and read the reviews for this book. 90% of the reviewers gave it five stars so I ordered it. When I picked it up I couldn't put it down. It's hard to belive that Dave's mother did some of these things to him. It wasn't as well written as some of the reviewers said it was and there were some very gross sick-to-you're-stomach parts. Still, I think everyone should know about child abuse through the eyes of a child, so I recommend this book to those who think they can handle it. My heart goes out to you, Dave Pelzer, and to all the other people who are, or have been, abused.

Summary: Disturbing
Review: The book was disturbing of course, but uplifting at the end, and sheds a little light on the purpose of suffering in this world. I felt cheated however, because there was no discussion, let alone explanation, of the mother's point of view, *why* she would commit such hideous acts of hatred against her own child. What was the turning point when she ceased any empathy with The Boy?

As much as I hate the mother in this book, I would kill the father first. He felt some pity, but was too weak. A coward. Maybe the mother is sick, maybe, but there is no semblance of excuse for the father. He knew what was going on and ignored it. My parents ignored it when my brother abused me (though compared to this story we were the best of friends!) and I have never forgiven them for that.

Summary: A Must read for Educators in training or in practice.
Review: This is one those books that friends will loan to you that you will end up buying because you fell in love with a tragidy. I read this while researching for an intro to teaching class and everybody whom I shared his story to has agreed that any current or would be educator needs this book on their bookshelf. It shoes how one person can abuse a child and how it can undeteced for many years. It gives us a clue as to what to look for from the words of the child. It will be book always in my mind as teach, and hope it is in yours.

Summary: I'm so glad Dave Pelzer survived to tell his story...
Review: Dave Pelzer is an angel to all of us who have ever been abused. By telling his story, he speaks for all of us, even those of us (like me) whose abuse was not nearly so severe, and he serves as an advocate for all those children currently suffering. He reminds us that we are not alone, that it is not our fault, and that there is hope for the future, not just in our own lives, but for the world as a whole as well. What I value about this book above all is his ability to talk about what it FELT like - because you tend to forget those things, shove those uncomfortable feelings under the rug - and, when you read this (if you've ever suffered abuse of any kind) you find yourself remembering and saying, "Yes, it really WAS that bad, but I got away and it's much better now..." I owe Dave Pelzer a huge debt of gratitude for this book.

Summary: a true eye opener for anyone who has ever been abused!
Review: WHAT A SAD, YET INFORMATIVE BOOK ON THE EARLY LIFE OF DAVE. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS READING AS I WENT FROM CHAPTER TO CHAPTER. DAVE IS AN INSPIRATION TO ALL OF US OUT THERE WHO HAVE ENCOUNTERED SOME SORT OF CHILDHOOD ABUSE. I CANNNOT WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK. WHAT KIND OF JUSTICE WAS LEVELED ON THE PARENTS OF THIS YOUNG BOY?

Summary: The most heartfelt book ive ever read
Review: I read this book in 4 hours. Never in my understanding of the world can I understand how a mother can do this to a child and how blind people can be to such a lonely little boy who only wanted to be loved and accepted. I never read a book that made me cry but ill tell you I had to set this book down for awhile I felt so heartbroken for David. I have so much respect for Dave Pelzer he has conquered the worst life and has made it something to cherish. God Bless him.
