Summary: A must read for anyone.
Review: This is a story that everyone should read. Mothers, fathers, and children. It makes you realize just how precious the life of a child is and how some very "ill" people have no regard for it. It also shows why foster homes are so important and how foster care can be a lifesaver, that it's not always an unruly child that has to be removed from the home. God bless you Mr. Pelzer and your new family.

Summary: This is an emotional, riveting story. Pelzer is amazing.
Review: This book details the abuse a boy endured at the hands of his psychotic mother and weakling father. This book is powerful, and riveting because of the detail which Pelzer describes his day to day hellish existence within his family. I felt angry and sad for the lost little boy with no place to turn. I was furious at the mother who tortured her son, I was angrier at his weakling father for not protecting his child. Pelzer brings the reader into his life as a boy. I was angered and hurt by the shame, the pain, and the anguish he suffered day in and day out. What is amazing about this book, however, is that Pelzer brings about a sense of willful determination to live, out of a childhood fraught with instability, abuse, and starvation. Reading this book will require a handy supply of tissues, but the reader will come away with a good feeling because the boy survived despite his parents best efforts to the contrary.

Summary: Excellent book, everyone should read it!!
Review: I just finished reading "A Child Called 'It'" and his sequel book, "The Lost Boy" all within 3 days. My husband also read it. We were both shocked at what a parent can do to their own child. It is just unthinkable. The book brought tears, then happiness when David was finally rescued. We have alot of admiration for David and are amazed that anyone could come out of that situation as a normal person. Our hats are off to you David. I recommend both of these books to everyone. We are eagerly awaiting his final book to answer our unanswered questions.

Summary: GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!
Review: It's sad that there are human beings that are that cruel to others. I truly felt so sorry for the little boy. Thank God for people who can help those in such GREAT needs. I hate he had to go for so long before anyone rescued him but at least he lived to tell the world what happened to him. It has really made me take notice of people that may have harm done to them. I guess you don't realize it happens around you or you don't want to interfer with it but we all need to pay attention to the needs that people cry out for instead of turning our backs because we don't want to get involved. I hope I never have to encounter a situation like that, but you can believe that I will do what I can to help anyone that is being abused or if they are the abuser. No one should ever have to live like that. And to Dave, the boy in the book. I wish I had you as a son. There is enough love in me for thousands of kids like you. I just wish all people could survive! I'll never understand why there is people in this world that is so MEAN!! May God be with all!!! Sissy

Summary: Most moving book I have ever read
Review: From the moment I picked up the book I couldn't put it down, in fact I read the entire thing in like 3 hours. The life that the little boy had to live with everyday is simply amazing and how he lasted that long is a mystery to me. I can't wait to read the next one: "The Lost Boy"

Summary: This book convinced us to become foster parents
Review: I can not find the words to adequately describe this book. It is one of the best books on the life of a foster child that I have read. After reading David's true story of his life in an abusive home, Mary and I decided to become foster parents and care givers. If you read it you will be appalled by his pain while being encouraged by his strength. This book will effect you and convince you of the genuine need for our services as foster parents.

Summary: THERAPEUTIC WITH COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING
Review: As I strolled through a local book store, I came upon the book called " A Child Called It". I purchased the book with total excitement, in hopes of finding some personal answers for myself. As I read this wonderful story of this poor child I had complete understanding of his fears and his anxiety. I, too, was a foster child for several years. I could identify with his abusive challenges. Upon reading this book I was able to continue with my therapy sessions. I talked with my therapist about the book and she has since borrowed the book and recommended it to some of her patients. David is a remarkable survivor who had the will to live. David know that god is pleased with you and he is using you as his tool to reach others who have no direction in where to go for help and how to continue with life. Your inspiration has helped me and will continue to help others who are also searching for answers that they may never find. David please publish the book A Man Named Dave. I have contacted the publisher in search of this book and have been unsuccessful. David you are such a great Insperation to me and I thank you for you courage and your will to survive. I hope, to be able to surpass my challenges, I had as a child who was also abused. DAVID YOU ARE A REMARKABLE SPECIAL INDIVIDUAL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR BOOKS AND YOU WILL TO SURVIVE SO THAT YOU CAN HELP OTHERS AS YOU HAVE HELPED ME! THANK YOU.

Summary: A must read for any mother, father, or human being.
Review: I can not find the words to adequately describe this book. It is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. I put the book down long enough to compose myself. It really opens your eyes to how lucky you are and how there is a real need for change in our society. One, to stop the cycle of abuse. Two, for the way society looks at Foster care, children in foster care, and The System. God Bless you Mr. Pelzer

Summary: Emotionally charged
Review: When I thumbed through this book at the local department store, I thought this seems interesting after seeing Dave Pelzer on Montel Williams and I'd like to read his entire story. I bought it, and read it in less than two hours. I could not believe how horrible a mother could be to her own child, and that more importantly he could survive and be a normal person. My eleven year old son has also read this book, and from his book report at his school, now so are many teachers. Many of my friends know that my son also has read this book and question me as to why I would let an eleven year old child read something of this nature! WHY? because this is the real world, it unfortunately happens all of the time and the book is so well written from the eyes of a child I think that is something that he needs to read. He could not wait to get the sequel "The Lost Boy" (which I also read first) and is now reading it. His teachers are right in line behind him. Mr. Pelzer, thank you for sharing your story!
