Rating: Summary: A story that teaches you how to love and to be greatfull. Review: It warmed my heart. You will feel as though you are the one that is having all the troubles. The author makes you feel like you are in the story with David feeling his pain and saddness. It is a book that made me greatful for what I do have.
Rating: Summary: definitely a must read Review: this book is absolutely incredible. I have borrowed it to friends from the age of 12 to 48 and they have all equally enjoyed it. Even though it is horrible to read about and impossible to imagine, it is helpful for anyone to read. This book is important for everyone to read because we need to become aware that child abuse is a problem and something can be done to stop it. We just need to be ready to learn more about this.
Rating: Summary: I liked this book very much. Review: I thought this was a very good book i would recimend it to all of my friends. How could a parent do that to their child. It is so very wrong
Rating: Summary: An unforgettable book that you can't put down Review: I recently read A Child Called It and was forever changed. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I never realized what it would be like to be an abused child but this lead me through the mind and life of someone who has lived it. If you haven't read this- It is beyond worth reading. I have told all my friends to read it and they have told theirs and so on. This is one book that you will never forget!
Rating: Summary: It was heart warming! Review: This book really grabbed my attention. I could NOT put it down. Everytime something happened, I couldn't help but read a little more. I which case i read the book in one day. To think it was a true story. My friends wanted to borro the book too!! "A Child Called IT" is a wonderful book that really made me realize how much I should be thanful for. Really, it touched my heart. It was like everytime something happened to him, it was like it was happening to me.
Rating: Summary: The survival and Victory of a young boy!! Review: The sequel to +this book is "The Lost Boy" If you have not read that book you must read it after you read this one!! These books are some of the best books I have recently read. They are so touching, and inspirational. You have to imagine if someone that has been through so much has that much faith, that much curiage and strengtrh yet they are only a child growing and going through some of the hardest stages. You have to compare it to your life, and how easy most of us must have it compared to Dave. Just put yourself in his feet and ask that question "If it was you would you have survived?" I don't think that ?I could have done it!
Rating: Summary: A very tragic story , but heart warming Review: A Child called "it" is a wonderful book. I am thankful for my loving and caring family. Dave Pelzer is very lucky to be alive after all of the abuse from his mother. I can't wait untill A man named Dave comes out. A wonderful but touching story.
Rating: Summary: great book Review: I almost couldn't put this book down when I read it! The book creates a whole range of emotions for the reader - a definate must read!
Rating: Summary: The book, A Child Called "It" is very sad, but fantastic. Review: The book, I think is very sad and scary. The way his mother abused him! I'm lucky I have a loving family who cares for me. David Pelzel is very lucky to be alive. The abuse that taughnted him for so long is now over. He now has a loving family of his own. How lucky he must feel! The story is heartbreaking, but also heart warming. He tried hard so hard to live that he finally achieved his goal. That takes a lot of spunk in a 10-year-old child. He's very fourtunate to have his mother off his back.
Rating: Summary: The best thing an abused child can do is to tell... Review: ... and Dave has done that very powerfully. I read this book in two sittings, and also the sequel, "The Lost Boy." I agree with the reviewers who found the writing poor in spots, and I also think that the narrative presentation is not the best--loose ends, unexplained events and actions, etc. I'd also appreciate more insight into Dave's growth as he started to overcome his past. Maybe that will come in the third book. Some reviewers have expressed skepticism about some of the horrendous things Dave's mother did to him. Believe them! Dave isn't the only child who has been subjected to bizarre, shocking and brutal treatment at the hands of parents or other guardians. This was an excellent book under the circumstances--like its author's life, it's a bit scarred and makeshift, but it rises above a terrible reality.
