Summary: This is Going to Make the BEST movie.....
Review: "Can You Keep a Secret?" by Sophie Kinsella is DELIGHTFUL. It is funny and it is a book that every single woman out there can relate to....as well as quite a few men.

I hope that Sophie Kinsella gets a BUNDLE for the movie rights to this book, because it is going to be a HUGE hit if they can find the right star to play Emma. I was practically writing the screenplay for it as I was reading.

British marketing assistant, Emma Corrigan, inadvertantly has a HORRIBLE first business trip. The meeting is disastrous and she downs several vodka tonics as she prepares to board for her return flight as she is rather nervous about flying. When extreme turbulence convinces Emma that she is going to die, she starts nervously babbling about all the serious (as well as the inane) parts of her life that she has espoused to others that she wants to change: Her weight is 128 NOT 118; her G-string panties are too tight; the coffee at work is terrible; her JOB at work is terrible; her relationship with her parents hasn't been the same since her cousin moved in over 14 years ago; her boyfriend reminds her of Barbie's "Ken" and she isn't in love with the living doll....

The American passanger next to her listens for over an hour with bemusement and patience - never interrupting her. When they land safely, Emma is mortified - but grateful that: 1. She has arrived without the plane crashing and 2. She will never have to encounter again the American who has heard every single one of her life's secrets.

At work the next day, the company is in chaos as American co-founder of the company - Jack Harper is due to arrive to assess personnel for several days.

Emma's world takes a hilarious dive when Jack Harper walks into the office. He is the airliner passanger and he remembers every single one of her secrets.....

The terrific episodes that follow are delightful!

Summary: Not great...Not bad
Review: I did like this book for the most part. I did, however..yearn for Becky Bloomwood instead of Emma. The ending was a bit too typical for my tastes, but overall, it was an OK book.

Summary: A good weekend read
Review: I can't get enough of Kinsella's writing, and couldn't put this book down once I started. Those who've read the Confessions series will find that Secrets has a very similar theme.

Summary: Don't want to keep it a secret...
Review: The book is a humorous, uplifting, easy read. A wonderfully lighthearted novel that will put you in a good mood. WARNING: Once you pick it up, you won't want to put it down!!

Summary: Delicious!!
Review: I won't bore you with another summary of this book. I just want to say: I could not put this book down. I devoured it in one sitting. Of course, now I wish I had read slower and savored every page. But I couldn't help myself. I just gobbled it up. Buy this book today. You won't be sorry. Happy Eating...I mean Reading!!!

Summary: Good....not great
Review: Throughtout "Can You Keep a Secret" I kept longing for Becky Bloomwood and her frazzled albeit funny life. "Secret" is a fast read, and I very much enjoy Kinsella's writing style. However, there just wasn't a real spark to keep me interested. In other words, it took me a long weekend to finish rather than simply a day devouring each page. I would recommend people iffy about this to wait for paperback.

Summary: Promise you won't tell!
Review: Readers who've been enchanted by the Becky Bloomwood character of Sophie Kinsella's SHOPAHOLIC series will not be disappointed by CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET?

Emma Corrigan is a Junior Marketing Assistant in the London HQ of Panther Corporation, which makes, among other things, Panther Cola and Panther Bars. Sent solo to Glasgow to conclude the formalities of a marketing alliance with Glen Oil, thought to be a sure thing, the deal suddenly falls apart. Attempting to salvage the agreement, Emma spills a can of Panther Cola all over the shirt of a Glen Oil VIP. Distraught, Emma boards a plane for the flight back to London - and she's afraid of flying. Unusually strong air turbulence makes the flight terrifying. Her tongue loosened by the certainty of impending death, Emma blabs all her personal secrets to her seatmate, a reserved American. As a matter of fact, she spills her guts: her relationship with her boyfriend, girl roomies, family, and co-workers, and the details of her sex life, her underwear, and the little lie she put on her Panther Corp job application. You get the picture. Absolutely everything, including the fact that she accidentally killed her parents' pet goldfish and substituted a look-alike.

The following Monday, the quiet Yank shows up at Panther Corporation. As it turns out, he's multimillionaire Jack Harper, the company CEO and one of its co-founders, who's making a tour of his European offices. Corrigan's life will never be the same. But Jack has a secret also.

Except that Emma doesn't have Becky's relentlessly spendthrift habits, the two are soul sisters. Both are young, naive, just a little ditzy, otherwise intelligent, pretty, generous, charming, kind-hearted, and with a propensity for infinite self-deception. Both are incredibly endearing despite their faults.

Author Sophie Kinsella is a genius at creating absurd situations from which her heroines must extricate themselves. Her books are gems in the genre of Humor. As I read CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET on the train to work, fellow travelers must have looked at me strangely as I occasionally giggled.

This is light reading with a capital "L", but I heartily recommend it.

Summary: Entertaining, Funny
Review: Not as good as the shopaholic series but still a fun read. I laughed out loud a times, very witty. I think the romance and how it came about was a bit farfetched. But still, a fun, enjoyable read.

Summary: Great book! Just as funny as the Shopaholic books!!
Review: Great story! I read this book in one day! Really quick read... you won't be able to put it down! Really easy to get into. Unique storyline, with a nice happy ending.

Summary: good just something missing
Review: "Can You Keep a Secret?"

I'll grant you it was a fast read, but there was something missing. Chick Lit or Contemporary fiction it is suppose to be a romance. I loved Jack Harper though I couldn't buy him remembering everything Emma liked or disliked.

I just wish Ms Kinsella wasn't afraid to write the love scenes. In one scene you get to the bedroom Jack locks the door, drags Emma to the floor and zip. This isn't the 1970's (...) I don't know about anyone else and can only speak for myself, but I'm glad this was a library book because I would have been miffed if I had shelled out $21.95 for this hard cover.

We watched Emma's character grow and stand up for herself and Ms Kinsella made her usurper cousin nasty. I couldn't wait until Emma gave her the truth.

I would love to see a sequel because Jack has some making up to do. Its just I was waiting for the love scene to progress. Please, please, please continue to write but since I live vicariously through romances, I need the love scenes. I think Emma and Jack could really set the company on fire especially with grandpa's help.
