Summary: Oh please!
Review: sheesh! everyone everywhere is full of nothing but praise for this book(also for Harry Potter too!)
well, I think you should know right now, that it is a very badly written!I am 13, and maybe that acounts for my dislike...
it is very childish, boring and much much too over hyped.look-if you found " the series of unfortunate events" to be not very terrible at all, then this like that- Artemis fowl is not at all a horrible criminal mastermind everyone says he is in all the other reviews.he is not cold blooded, he does not kill, he is just a stupid boy looking for gold...the fairies are not realistic and very boring, and the "high tech" of theirs are not exciting to read about, just boringly stated out to you in a few short sentances. the characters have very little emotions, because the writer thinks that all we need to understand of their emotions of the characters can be told with a"he shouted, red faced",or a "he replied icily".totaly bad litrature.
I think this should have been a movie, because there is a lot of action, but shouldn't have been made into a book.

Summary: Great read for kids with a sophisticated vocabulary
Review: We just started reading this one a few days ago, and I love it. Some of the words, and phrases are challenging for my 7 & 9 year old, though, so I pause every so often while I am reading to explain some of the new vocabulary words. I think it's going to be a fantastic series. High tech for "today's kids", yet some of the same concepts of the adventure/fantasy books I read when I was the same age as my sons.

I do wish people would stop comparing this book with the Harry Potter series, though. While it is a wonderful series to read, so were the Boxcar Children books, the Jedi Apprentice series and Captain Underpants books. Each is different, and to compare them does justice to none.

Summary: A Magical Read
Review: I have read Artemis Fowl with my seventh grade students. Just from hearing the brief summary on the back, I had students begging to be included in the group. I had to purchase additional copies just to accomodate them all. The book is extremely engaging. The students that read it almost always read beyond the designated stopping point because they wanted to know what was going to happen next. By the way, has anyone else tried to translate the message across the bottom of the pages? It's really cool. The book must have some magical powers - it got 8 reluctant readers to enjoy reading.

Summary: Not so Much For Harry Potter Fans
Review: Almost every other fantasy book that has come out since Harry Potter has been said to be for Harry Potter fans. I however, wouldn't say the same thing. An entirely different sort of pace with characters that could never resemble Harry Potter.
I loved this book, it was very catchy. The whole idea of capturing a fairy for ransom and fairies fighting back was very amusing to me. Eoin Colfer has given a whole new meaning to "fairies" and "magic".
Buy it and read it!

Summary: A criminal genius with big plans meets a fairy ....
Review: Artemis is a child genius - a truly gifted 12 year old. What is his talent you ask, music, painting, sports? Artemis is a criminal genius, following a long line of Fowl criminals. When his father vanishes Artemis has to deal with the fact that his family is now only rich, instead of being filthy rich. Artemis hatches a brilliant plan - he will get gold from the fairies. His plan is daring and includes the capture of a LEPrecon. Captain Holly Short was relatively easy to catch, but now Artmeis has to deal with one very annoyed fairy - and she fights dirty.

This book is fantastic and has had the misfortune of being compared to the Harry Potter books (as other reviewers have pointed out). If anything this book has more in common with the dry sense of humour contained in the Series of Unfortunate Event books by Lemony Snicket rather than the "serious" fantasy of the Harry Potter books.

This book is funny, makes you think, and keeps you entertained - a combination that you don't often find in books for older children and teenagers. I had to read this book in one sitting because it was a book that kept you turning the pages. I have also recently started reading the book to my 5 year old nephew and he is enjoying it too. If you want a lot of humour with your books then try this book - you won't be dissappopinted.

Summary: A Fantastic Treasure!!!!!
Review: Eoin Colfer has done a fantastic job on this magical book! A twelve years old boy named Artemis Fowl the Second is plotting to steal the timeless treasure of the fairies! He is the genius, a criminal mastermind, and a millionaire. So believing that there are fairies he began the quest to find "The People." With his friend, servant, bodyguard, and cook named Butler, they both begin to find the treasure of the fairies. After copying the "Book" from a drunk fairy, they try to find a leprechaun to show the gold. Later during the search, an elf named Holly Short is introduced. She is an elf captain from LEPrecon Special Forces. Because Captain Short is low on magic, she had to find a spot to do the Ritual where she can replenish her powers. Unfortunately for Holly, Artemis and Butler are hiding in the one of the spots that Holly has come to do the Ritual. They talk for a few minutes and Holly finds out that the "Mud People"(humans) know about their existance and then decides to use the mesmer (the lowest form of magic and requires only a little magic). But it is ineffective and she faints. The LEPrecon Special Forces find out she is kidnapped by a Mud People. Artemis decides to hold her for ransom and then he makes a plan of how to get the gold and outsmart the fairies. The special forces refuse to give any gold and use the secretive time- stoppage which stops time for 8 hours. Artemis meets Commander Root and tells him that he can escape the time-field. So Root sends a dwarf named Mulch to steal something from the house and rescue Holly. But since Mulch is a criminal instead he steals a copy of the Book and escapes out into the world. Believing that Mulch is dead, they send in a troll they captured earlier. Butler has to fight it but is injured critically. So with her powers back Holly tries to heal him because she was also injured by the troll. Butler defeats the troll and sends him back. Root then sends in the gold and Artemis lets Holly go. But before the time-stoppage was about to end Artemis requested for a wish in return for some gold to Holly. He had wished that his mother would be healthy again like before. She granted it and came back to LEPrecon forces with half the gold. The time field ends right after Butler, Juliet (Butler's sister), and Artemis celebrate by drinking some champagne with some sleeping pills in it to make them fall asleep. Then the LEPrecon Forces think they are dead so they go in and take the gold but suddenly one of the officers start vomiting which meant that Artemis Fowl was alive. In the end Artemis won the gold and his mother was normal. Holly became LEP's foremost expert in Artemis Fowl cases.
I liked the book because it was interesting of how clever 12- year old boy had found out a way of how to escape the time field when it had never been discovered before by the People. And it also included things about magical creatures like elves, fairies, dwarves and so on.
My favorite part in the book was when they found out that Artemis Fowl was alive. They found out he was alive when an officer started vomiting and had nausia and so the others began as well except Holly. She asked Foaly, LEP's computer expert centaur what was going on and he replied that it was a like a extreme allergic reaction which meant Artemis Fowl was alive! Because Artemis said that no one from LEP could enter the house while he was alive.

Summary: The Anti-Potter?
Review: First let me say that I enjoyed the book. I didn't, however, love it. The whole time I was reading I couldn't help but think that Artemis, the 12-year old "criminal genius" was a deliberate attempt to become the Anti-Potter. And, I guess my main disappointment came from the fact that I found not a bit of likeability in Artemis. If you want people to love anti-heroes, you've got to make them somewhat sympathetic. That being said, however, it was an enjoyable read. There was great humor, and I liked the mix of technology & myth.

Summary: Artemis Fowl Review
Review: Atemis Fowl is a 12 years old boy, with the most intelligent criminal mastermind. He with his 2 bodyguards Butler and Juliet, he plan to kidnapped a fairy with the pot of gold. But he didn't realize that the fairy has much more hi-tech weapons than he could imagine. But he didn't believe about the "gold at the end of the rainbow".
This book is contain many hi-tech weapons, for example; bio bomb, night vision, and many others more. It also is a fun fantasy book, with lots of imagination and fun to read. I would recommend this book to most people.
