Summary: A Great Action Novel
Review: Artemis Fowl is about a 12-year-old boy who is not average on any level. First of all, he is a millionaire, second of all, he is a genius and third of all, he is using his genius to be a criminal mastermind!

I liked this book a lot for a couple of reasons. Number one, I loved the setup of how Artemis Fowl is so young but so mature and how he is a millionaire and a genius.

Number two, I loved the plot of the story, which is that Artemis Fowl kidnaps a fairy (Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon to be exact). But this kind of fairy is a dangerous fairy that will bring Artemis Fowl the adventures of his lifetime. He captured the fairy looking for 'the book' that all fairies carry around.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, twists and turns and most of all just a good fantasy plot. Also, this book should be read by somebody that has an active imagination. I think that anyone could and probably would love this book and I highly recommend it.

Summary: Truely wonderful...

Summary: Excellent voaculary - extremely well written!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book to my 8 yr. old. He is an avid reader and just wouldn't let me put the book down - very long chapters! The vocabulary is excellent - lots of really good words that my son had never encountered. The story is full of twists and turns and you really don't know what is going to happen next. I have enjoyed it - just as much as Harry Potter and I can't wait to read the sequel to it - Artemis Fowl and the Artic Incident.

Summary: A video game in book form
Review: Ok, it's a page-turner (hence the two stars). But what a shallow, insubstantial book. It's full of leprechauns eagerly sporting high tech weapons, an unscrupulous genius of a 12 year old boy accumulating unimaginable wealth (he's never called evil, but it's apt). Pretty graphic violence perpetuated by a pea-brained troll. Black and white characters of no substance whatsoever (unless you think Artemis' denial of his father's death gives him substance--oh, I see: another book in the making). Why bother with a book? Why not come out with the video game/bad movie and be done with it!

Don't compare this to Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings. If you want a book that can carry a plot and has characters with depth read those. If you want dental floss, read Artemis Fowl.

Summary: Incredible!
Review: This has definitely become a cliché in the past years, but I use it as literally as I possibly can here: you cannot put "Artemis Fowl" down. An amazing book full of twists and turns, laugh-out-loud humor, and nail-biting suspense, "Fowl" will please any person looking for a excellent read. With stunningly complex characters that are actually a breeze to relate to, Eoin Colfer paints a world of mystery and action that will keep you fascinated forever. While the Harry Potter series was much more elaborate, the world of "Fowl" is much like our own. "Fowl" also doesn't take itself nearly as seriously as the Harry Potter series, making it easier to read and enjoy. Artemis Fowl, the main character, is a pre-teen criminal mastermind/genius. Born into a long line of crooks, Artemis develops a plan involving the fairy world. They aren't your everyday fairies with magic wands-they pack guns, and have established their own formidable government. Colfer's imagination runs wild, filling every world with vibrant pictures. The world comes to life inside your head, beautifully crafted to please even the most skeptical reader. "Artemis Fowl" is a thrilling book from beginning to end: pick it up, and you won't regret it.

Summary: Faries with a difference
Review: Most people would pick up this book and think no! Not another fairy story. In fact it took a lot of persuading before I was convinced it was good enough to buy! To start with the first chapter seemed a bit farsical but as I became immersed in the story to me it became more and more real. It's about twelve year old Artemis Fowl, a criminal mastermind with a thirst for blood. He he bargins with a fairy into letting him look at her magick book and he learns everything there is to know about being a fairy. With his knowledge he plans to blackmail a fortune out of the fairy kingdom but not if commander Holly Short has anything to do with it.
This book has everything you need. Sentiment, thrills and suspence keep you on the edge of your seat. Impossible to put down. Brilliant.

Summary: Enjoy it!
Review: For young readers this is an excellent story. Here you meet Artemis Fowl a boy genious, who is part of an infamous crime family. The story is straightforward, the plot doesn't have very many unexepted turns, but makes up for it with loads of fun. Sometimes, even with hillarious laugh out loud moments.

While this isn't a deep story, I think young readers will enjoy the story. Have fun, definitely set aside some time. You'll be glad you did.

Summary: Artemis Fowl... Book 1
Review: This book was very well written. I loved how it was written. It was brilliant. I loved how it was totally made up and the language was great. It is given the appearance that it is a real place, there is so much detail. The story at the bottom written in Gnommish was great also. It was all great. I loved how Artemis was portrayed as the brilliant mastermind! He was very well written. When you read this, you want the good guy to win and the bad guy to be gotten rid of... and i'll leave the ending for you to read. It was great. I hope the second one is just as good if not better.

Summary: Artemis
Review: Artemis is as believable as a criminal mastermind boy-genius type can be. I get the sense that this character will develop more in future installations. The interactions between him and the fairies are written very well. In a way, he is protagonist and antagonist at the same time, which makes for very good reading as you are rooting for all the characters to come out ahead. There is a bit of violence, but definitely no more than most toys and books aimed at pre-teens. The plot is fast moving, interesting and always funny. Although Artemis Fowl is a strange protagonist he is a good one. You also have your doubts about him during some of his emotional battles.
It was a fun read and I would pass on the recommendation to most anybody who likes the fantasy/magic fiction genre.

I also recommend you READ "His Dark Materials series" and, a great new comer, The Price of Immortality by C.M. Whitlock

Summary: One 12-year-old who shouldn't be in loafers
Review: Artemis Fowl is 12, doesn't shave, has a butler, and yet is a criminal mastermind. This book, about a child genius, is highly thrilling for those of any age. I am 17, yet I still enjoyed this book with it's quirky humor and sometimes odd characters, such as a dwarf who is somewhat explosive, in every meaning of the word.
The book opens with Artemis searching for something. the reader doesn't know what it is or anything; which makes for a slightly confusing intro, but it improves later on when the details are revealed. Colfer, the writer, does not bring the story into full view until the very end; which I like. It doesn't lack in action or gadgetry, and the story is very entertaining to compliment the high-tech equipment.
I highly recommend this book, not only for its use of cunning plot and gadgets, but for its clever innovation. It introduces us to a new world, like no other book. It also give the foundation for the next wonderful book. The best way to enjoy a on-the-edge-of-your-seat book like this, is to stop reading reviews and pick up your own copy.
