Rating: Summary: Good read! Review: This was a very witty foray into fantasy. It did a great job of making things like fairies believable. I especially enjoyed Artemis' strategies. Just when you thought he was down, he'd come up with something. This book was great fun.
Rating: Summary: I'm an ediot Review: Artemis Fowl was a very great book. I liked it a lot. It is kind of like the Hobbit. it has lots of different charachters in it. It makes you want to keep guessing what is going to happen next. It is very excitting from the first page to the last. I could not put this book down after I started it because I liked it so much but at the same time I wanted it to drag on because it was so good.
Rating: Summary: disappointed :( Review: I was very disappointed in the book, Artemis Fowl Bk.I. From the very beginning I felt there was something missing in its development and created "facts". I felt the author was trying to use "in" or modern day gross out material aimed at 9 yr. old boys. Although I felt it didn't work, I continued to read. Still thought I was being too critical of the copy-cat characters from TV crime shows until I spoke with a school librarian. She highly reviewed Harry Potter and many other of the classic series that 6-8 graders read but felt that Artemis Fowl did not meet the expectation of quality. I felt I was mislead by the reviews of this book. Rarely does that happen so blatantly. In my opinion, there is very little creativity to blossom from reading this book. And in this very busy time, even children should find relaxing reading which also stimulates their imagination.
Rating: Summary: FowlFan Review: I loved Artemis Fowl. Artemis is a 12-year old criminal mastermind. His father, that had gone missing last year, had lost a lot of the Fowl family fortune. Artemis comes up with a plan to kidnapp a fairy and hold it for ransom to get fairy gold, but the fairy Artemis captures is Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon. The whole entire book is cool and I like Artemis the best in the book even though he is evil.

Rating: Summary: The school review Review: Artemis Fowl was a great book. The reason I say this is because its one the easiest books I have read but still has a great plot. Artemis Fowl is a twelve-year-old boy with a plan to become the youngest criminal mastermind ever known and once again restore his family with billions of dollars. The thing is that the Fowl's have always been criminals and had always been filthy rich. But in a recent event most of their money had been taken from them. Artemis's father, Artemis Senior, another one of the Fowl's dirty trade, decided to put a lump sum of their money into a plan that didn't work taking most of their fortune. Month's later Artemis Senior died on a ship with his butler/bodyguard in a quiet explosion at sea. Artemis never really gave up hope that his father would be found. He always had a projector running with CNN on, always hoping for a broadcast of his father's rescue. The projector had been running about a year or two ever since the accident. Artemis's mom who had been traumatized by her husbands disappearance of her husband that she decided to lock herself inside her bedroom until he came back. Artemis has lost all hope of his father's return and wonders if his mom will ever be the same. This book isn't just all about Artimes. This book is filled with fairies, sprites, goblins and other mystical creatures from under the earth. There is the LEP that is kind of like a fairy CIA or Delta force. The other main character is Holly. She is the first ever female in the LEP and has a hard time in this book. This is a great book and I recommend it to someone who is having a hard time finding a book. It keeps you on your toes and it was hard for even me to put it down. I give this book five stars.
Rating: Summary: Artemis deserves more credit. Review: Artemis Fowl was the best book I ever read, no questions asked. Though I am a loyal Harry Potter fan, he's only second-rate compared to Artemis. This book was exciting and a page-turner. I know it is odd, but Artemis was my favorite character. Witty, genius, and interesting he was my favorite character from page one. He deserves a lot more credit then he's getting. Bravo Colfer. Keep 'em coming!
