Summary: love knows no limits
Review: I have read the other reviews and scoff at the nit-pickyness of some people. Do not read this book if you want to disect it. I do, however, encourage you to read this book if you are a believer in love and enjoy feeling the love between two people. It is smartly written, well researched (bravo Ms. Neffenegger), and just delightful to read. I loved this book (obviously). Do yourself a favor and read it, whether or not you'll remember it in 50 years is mute, you will enjoy it here and now!

Summary: A Rare Find
Review: "The Time Traveler's Wife" is a rare book. It is not entirely unique. The idea of time travel romance has been done a few times. "The Time Traveler's Wife" is so unique because of the underlying writing ability with which the time spanning romance is described. Audrey Niffenegger writes with a passion and deliberateness more commonly associated with dramatic literature than either fanciful romance or fantasy science fiction. Her style is clear and concise, simple yet not simplistic. "The Time Traveler's Wife" is more reminiscent of detailed dramatic stories like "My Fractured Life", "The Amateur Marriage", or "The Secret Life of Bees" than of Orson Scott Card style science fiction or Jackie Collins romance. It is a rare book that accomplishes such a thing, and a book worth reading for doing so.

Summary: All Bark, No Bite
Review: While the author does a good job at helping her readers stay sane while her character Henry jumps around in time (meaning it's not that hard to keep up) and it IS an intriguing science fiction concept, as put forth in the Publisher's Weekly review, it is NOT a "touching love story," nor is it a "realistic character study." The characters aren't fully drawn, physically or otherwise for the reader. A huge part of the story is dialogue, and a good portion of the dialogue at the beginning is only on the page to explain to the reader how the time travel works - it's a poorly used, thinly disguised device.The question looming largest in my mind regarding the storyline was, "If you jumped back & forth in time, wouldn't you AT LEAST ONCE try & change the past?" But Henry never does. The issue is skirted once (and Henry's not even the one who brings it up!) & then forgotten about. (Granted, this particular critism was based on my expectations of the book, so maybe not important to other readers.) Overall, I was very disappointed by this book. Yes, the subject matter is extremely intriguing, which is why it was published & why so many people have picked it up. But it just doesn't deliver. Definitely all bark and no bite. Trust me, in 50 years, no one will remember this book. I wish I'd checked it out from the library instead of shelled out $25 for it.

Summary: The Time Traveler's Wife
Review: This book was very confusing. It goes from 1991 to 1968 to 1988 so on and so forth. I couldn't make sense of it.
The story is about Henry DeTamble. He has Chrono-Displacement Disorder. It causes his genetic clock to reset. "He finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future." He'll just disappear without warning.
Then, there's Clare. She's met the future Henry in her past and he told her that they would be married.
They meet again in 1991. Henry is 28 and Clare is 20. They fall in love.
And then we go back and forth in time until nothing makes sense.
Don't read this book. It's a waste of your time.

Review: If you are reading this review, I hope it is for one of two reasons: (1) You are waiting for your copy to arrive in the mail, or (2) You have just finished reading and want to spend some time with others who've loved this book. Otherwise, you are wasting valuable time. Go - order this book! Read this book! The other reviewers have summed up the book nicely. It has a clever premise, beautifully written. It seemed so real! I would LOVE to meet and talk with the author! It is unutterably sweet and sad ... The only book that, months after reading it, still moves me to tears when I think of it.

Summary: Nothing Wrong With Mainstream
Review: The biggest complaint I hear about "The Time Traveler's Wife" is that it is that the mainstream enjoys it - that it's "commercial" and "popular" like "The Secret Life of Bees," Life of Pi," and "My Fractured Life." But, what's wrong with that? "The Time Traveler's Wife" is a fantastic and unique book. I for one loved "The Secret Life of Bees", "Life of Pi", and "My Fractured Life" and I loved "The Time Traveler's Wife" too. Since when is calling a book mainstream supposed to be an insult? It means that these are books that most people (like myself I point out) love.

Summary: Time Travel with a Twist!
Review: Enjoy this book! It was a great adventure traveling through the times with this couple and it really endeared me to their love for each other knowing their connection was so deep. I give this 5 stars, it's a must read for a great tale!

Review: I am not normally a fan of either sci-fi or love stories, but this book grabbed me as soon as I read the jacket. It was fascinating as the 2 main characters interacted with each other through the times. This book was surprisingly good.

Summary: Interesting New Twist to Time Travel!
Review: I rate this book right up with the best books I have read on Time Travel (The Mirror, Replay, Time and Again) with an interesting new twist! In this book there are no such things as paradoxes. In this book even though characters may know what is about to occur, they are powerless to do anything to change things (in those situations they are like in a "dream-state," powerless to act). Thus, we have a time traveler, Henry, who can go back in time many times to the same place and event without disrupting history. Henry is a new breed of human, who at difficult times of his life, kind of jumps into the past (sometimes to the future). Each time he arrives naked with no knowledge of where he is. He then needs to get clothing and money anyway he can. This makes him learn a kind of life of crime from pick pocketing to breaking into stores to get what he needs. Henry works as a librarian and when he is 28, he meets Clare. Clare seems to know him well but Henry has no recollection of meeting Clare. It turns out that future versions of Henry have continually jumped into the past and have been meeting Clare since she was 6. Clare kind of knows she is destined to marry Henry. They form an interesting relationship because Clare has to now deal with a very different Henry (because he doesn't know her yet). The Henry that she knew wouldn't tell her anything about his childhood (fearing that she may try to seek out his younger self). This Henry is willing to share all details of his life. The Henry that she knew seemed to know all her likes and dislikes, while this Henry has to learn everything. Eventually, Henry will reach the age where he starts jumping to Clare's past and then the current day Clare can come full circle with Henry and their memories together. If it all sounds complicated, it's not! The author does a wonderful job of letting you know where Henry is at all times and the ages of Henry and Clare and sometimes when there is more than one Henry, the ages of both. Also, the book is narrated in first person. Sometimes Henry is the narrator and sometimes it is Clare. This works well because during different events sometimes Henry has the greater knowledge and sometime Clare does. The author also does a real good job capturing female vs. male renderings of thoughts and events. The book is over 500 pages but you will breeze through it rather fast!
