Summary: Enchanting,Fascinating !
Review: I liked this book from the very first page I turned to.I got totally engrossed in this book and found myself in their world. This book is about a girl and a boy named Polly and Digory. They formed a friendship with each other when Digory climbed over his fence and said,"Hello" to Polly.Everyday, they would play indoors as it was a wet and cold summer.Polly got to know that Digory was staying with his Uncle Andrew and Aunt Letty as his mother was sick.Polly had found a hole and stored some of her belongings in the hole which was situated just below the rooftop of Polly's house and other people's house. You see,Polly lived in a row of houses which are joined up together.Digory sort of liked her"smuggler's cave".

Then, one day Digory suggested to go further through the hole and see if they could get through every house. They accidentally stumbled upon Uncle Andrew's study.Uncle Andrew maked Polly fascinated with a yellow ring and made her go into another world.Digory has no choice but to go into the other world and rescue Polly. From that world,Polly and Digory went to another world and awaken Queen Jadis,an evil queen who always tries to conquer a world.Digory and Polly try their best to get rid of Queen Jadis and go back to their own world but they accidentally brought her along.Back there, she treats Uncle Andrew as a slave.Queen Jadis was now galloping a cab with a passenger with it.While all these are happening,Polly and Digory quickly took the horse, cabby,Uncle Andrew and Queen Jadis into another world but it is not the world that they wanted to leave Queen Jadis in.It was a world called Narnia which has Talking Beasts in it.I wouldn't tell you the whole story.I couldn't put this book down until I had finished it.Buy this book.I bet you wouldn't regret it.

Summary: Pretty good.
Review: Pretty good book. I enjoyed it very much.. It talks about the forming of a place called Narnia (The Land of Youth) and how it formed.. I especially loved the charecter of Aslan and the understanding he had and his personality. I REALLY disliked Jade.. The EVIL Queen. She really kind of ticked me off by her evil and her cruelness.

Summary: Different Worlds have different people
Review: The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis
A Review by Lindsey
The Magician's Nephew is a story about a boy named Digory and his friend Polly. They discover a passage way and find themselves forced into a new world by magic. In the different world and meet a queen named Jadis, who's an evil witch. Later they discover themselves in another world called Narnia, and have some important errands to run for a talking lion before the two friends could go back home to London.

The characters are all very interesting. For example, the witch, Jadis, is very deceiving and wants everything her way and wants to rule everything too. On the other hand, Digory, is a serious person and doesn't like when things go wrong or bad. For instance, he made a bad mistake and intended to try to make it right again. The mistake he made was that he let the witch into Narnia instead of back into her own world.

A couple parts in the story were kind of boring. I wish some parts could have been made a tiny bit more interesting. For example, when Jadis came to earth with Polly and Digory. I also wish the climax also came sooner in the book. It really didn't seem like the story was interesting to me because it wasn't exciting until about the middle of the book. Though, I understand the things before are needed to understand the good parts. The book was also somewhat predictable, probably because of my age.

This story was still good. This is a fantasy book and it you love going off into other worlds instead of being on earth you'll like this book. This book would probably be best for readers from ages 10-13 because the reading level isn't very difficult, but anyone would like it if they love fantasies and the impossible happening.

Summary: Who thinks of this stuff?
Review: This is one of those books that make you wonder how an authors mind works. This book sets up the whold Chronicles of Narnia series. The Magicians nephew is Digby (later Professor Kirke in The Lion, The Whitch, and The Wardrobe) who becomes the first human (along with his cohort Polly) to travel to Narnia, and other worlds.

We get to see how Narnia was in its ideal state, before the White Witch entered and wreked havoc on the ideal land. This book also shows us the "structure" of the Narnia fantasy lands. It shows us the difference between good and evil, bravery and cowardice, benevolence and destructiveness.

Read this one first, then move on to the rest of the Narnia books.

As far as age is concerned, this is great for adults or older children. I have read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe aloud to my 4-year old. He enjoyed about one chapter a day, but couldn't sit for any longer. He has the World of Narnia book called "The Wood between the Worlds" which is based on this book, so he knew the characters (with pictures) coming in. I plan to read this whole series to him in a year or two.

Summary: The Magician's Nephew
Review: The Magician's Nephew is a great start for Chronicles of Narnia. Two children, Digory and Polly, get rings from Digory's uncle. He gives them rings which give them the power to travel to different worlds and travel home again. They travel to lots of different worlds and have many different adventures. In one of the worlds they find an evil queen called Jadis who follows them back home. Polly and Digory take the queen to a different world where they meet a lion called Aslan and many different talking animals. Digory and Polly then have to go and get an apple to protect Narnia from the queen. Digory takes one apple back home to his dying mother. When Digory gives the apple to his mother she is cured. Digory buried the apple core and magic rings in his backyard. You will have to read the book to find out what happens. This book is one of the best books I have ever read. It makes you feel like you are in the adventures with the characters. I would recommend this book to anybody that can read. This adventure-fantasy is for people of all ages. I like the way it leads into the next book.

Summary: Your life WILL be lacking if you don't read this book
Review: The Narnia series is spellbinding, beyond comparison.
Plot, character buildup, excitement - and importantly, the sense morale - they have everything!

I started with this book and then read the rest of the series. Absolutely marvellous - years later I reread them, found them just as charming.
During the second read I became aware of the greater plot line - the good and evil struggle. Truly a masterpiece of a series.

Tolkien's books are naturally beyond comparison as well - but with the exception of Bilbo, they belong in a different, far more demanding genre.
More like in the Odysseus and the Iliad category.

Don't even mention the Potter name in the same year as the books above - just to see what all the hoopla was about, I read one of the Potter books.
I found the Potter book simplistic, stylistically lacking, character buildups minimalistic and plainly not a memorable book.
Sure, the plot had some merit, but oh so vapid. Like a Clinton speech, spellbinding at first, but five minutes later nary a word can be remembered.
I pity children who only get to read Potter.

Read this book!
