Summary: Will the Real Anne Rice Please Stand Up?
Review: Although a fan of Anne Rice's early Vampire Chronicles (first 3 were the best - 4 & 5 were ok), I am thoroughly convinced that Vittorio was written by Mrs. Rice's housecat. The language is far to simple, the plot far too stereotypical and boring, and the book does not measure into the same league as earlier works. ...

Summary: Where in the *** did he come from?
Review: Out of all the Anne Rice books that I have ever read , this book is the only one that I have read only once and never touched again. Not meaning to be harsh, but I feel that this book is a little lame. First of all, who is he and what does he have to do with any of vampire characters that we(Anne Rice fans) know and love? Nothing. When I read the book , he felt like a stranger to me,a feeling that I have never felt before with any of the other vampire books. I personally think that Anne Rice should stick to writing about the vampires that we are familiar with instead of going off and writing about other immortals that have no relations to the vampire chronicles. I really don"t know what possessed her to create a character such as this one, who sees things and falls for vampires who kill his family(I hope that is not giving away too much). Plus, the ending was pretty stupid. I really sorry that I have to be a reaper for the ugly truth, but Anne Rice's recent works have not been up to par.

Summary: Something new for once
Review: To fight off a wave of bad reviewers is easy simply because if you look at it from this angle, it's a truly amazing change of pace for our beloved Queen of the Vampires.

For once this is a vampire who never mentions the name Lestat, or the words Dark Trick. We're brought into the perspective of a different vampire of a different tribe, and unlike the others, a different kind of past. Vittorio's family is destroyed by vampires, and as irony would have it, he himself is tricked into immortality by the woman he falls in love with.

The story is both tragic and compelling at the same time, with conflict on every page, unlike the first four chronicles where the conflict starts up then peters out for a couple of pages, Vittorio provides us with nonstop horror and excitement.

Summary: another twist to vampires...
Review: I generaly am picky about vampire tales, in that they all seem the same but this one has a new way to put it. I will not tell you about it thus ruining it but i will say that it is full of creativity through the main character and his hate and love. Enjoy.

Summary: New vampire
Review: This book is not the best of her vampire chronicles by any means to me. It is entertaining, but lacks the depth of her other vampire chronicles.

Summary: A Gateway through Time
Review: Rice vividly gives us a taste of ancient Italy...alive with the painters and artists that made those times unique and beautiful. The book dazzles you as she uses her words to show you how it used to be in Italy. As for Vittorio, you will grow to love him, especially after reading his past and what he has been through. He is sort of like Louis, having humanity to him more so than the other vampires. Give it a try. I think it would have been more exciting with less descriptions and more action or weirdness, but it was good. I fairly enjoyed it, it was a tad bit better than Pandora.

Summary: One of her best
Review: It had to be my dearest Anne. The tale of Vittorio is one of her best, I trully recomend it. It's anne's version of romeo and Juliet, with a great ending, lots of Strange vampires and angels.

Summary: Finally....
Review: After the last couple Anne Rice disappointments this one is actually worth the read.

Summary: Vittorio the Vampire - A Waste of Good Paper
Review: Before a few months ago, I had never heard of Anne Rice. I had no clue that "Interview With the Vampire" was written by her, and the name printed on the posters for the movie, "Queen of the Damned", was but a mystery to me. But please do not discredit my review soly on the fact that I am a new Anne Rice reader. A girl in an acting class of mine had been reading the book, "The Vampire Lestat", and when she was busy acting, I picked up the book, read the first page, and new that I had stumbled upon the talent that so many other people had recognized since the 70's. I immediately rushed to my bookstore to learn more of this author, and, to my dismay, they were out of "Interview with the Vampire". Since I did not want to wait for them to ship the book, I decided to buy the book, "Vittorio the Vampire", and start the vampire chronicles later. I must say, I am completely disappointed by this novel. I had expected great things from Anne Rice, and, in return, I got a stupid plot and bad characters. The only reason I did not give this book only one star is because she does do a good job on describing nearly everything in the book (although I think that the description of the period and setting in the beginning was a bit much). I had wanted a book about vampires, and in "Vittorio", the plot revolves around the mortal Vittorio, not the immortal one I desired. Finally, when he does become a vampire, it ends with a brief summary of the 500 years he had lived past the one year that the bulk of the book is set in. I was disgusted, but, lucky for me, I decided to give the vampire chronicles a chance, and loved them. Anyone who reads this who has not read the vampire chronicles, it is much better to spend your money on something that is actually worth reading, and anyone who is thinking of purchasing this book, only purchase it if there is absolutely no other alternative for reading.

Summary: one of the best reads
Review: vittorio could possibaly be a.rice's best wrighting.this book has helped me understand that know matter what the human state,we are all equal, and special.it makes you think about the good and bad in people, and what can make you a good or bad person, and how love can alter a person and play a major part in a persons actions which effect directley to the good or bad in a person.vittorio also has strong religious parts in the plot.also an accurate depiction of italy around the 14th century.i feel this book should be a must read for psychology classes, upon finishing it you will find you'll have much to disguss.everyone i know who has read it (and its more then a few)all feel the same way about it as i do,outstanding.vittorio was also a main selection of the literary guild.hats off to a.rice.bravo.
