Review: This terrible, boring book is a major disappointment. It cannot even compare with The Tale of the Body Thief, Interview, or even Pandora. I hated Vittorio and and all of the other characters. A total waste of time.

Review: I'm normally a reader of mainstream fiction like The Triumph and the Glory, Havana Bay, and the Oprah books, but I've ALWAYS read Anne Rice because she is so incredibly talented. But Vittorio was a little weak in plot, character development and theme. Only the narration was upo to Rice's high standards set by her previous masterworks.

Review: I think that Anne Rice is a very misunderstood author. Her works explore things she's interested in on a personal level, which doesn't always appeal to her readers, who in turn get angry because a book isn't what they expected. Ms. Rice states right out in the beginning of the book that _Vittorio_ is not about the vampires with which we are so familiar. Instead, I believe she continues to explore her understanding of the spark of the divine in us all. This does not have the same lushness of _Interview_, or _Lestat_, or the witch series, or _Belinda_, or _Cry to Heaven_, nor quite the same erotic qualities, and I felt a little cheated because of that. It is, however, a good read, evoking wonderful pictures of the Italian hill cities and Renaissance Florence.

Review: A triumph! Rice paints the exquisite picture of golden age Italy with a sensual stroke. This book holds interest for the visually minded who are not afraid to let go and expand with the author.

Summary: A Fresh, new beginning for Mrs. Rice and her vampires
Review: I love all of Anne Rice's vampire novels. When I first saw the book, Vittorio, in the book store it immediately caught my attention. I had to read the book. Just from reading the summary on the inside cover I was excited about reading and couldn't wait to get home with the book. I must truly say that this book was everything I thought it would be. I love the way Mrs. Rice combined the elements of love, murder, lust, and betrayal. I thought the descriptions of Italy in the first few chapters gave good background to the story. The usage of description of the battles between Vittorio and his foes also really added color to the storyline. Lastly, I loved the way that Vittorio and Ursula fell in love and how they lived happily together in the end. I must say that the "new" vampire stories will be the beginning of a great chain of new vampire chronicles. I will be on the lookout for future stories of Vittorio and the new clan of vampires.

Summary: A breath of fresh air from the other vampires
Review: A delightful novel. I found that, unlike some of Rice's earlier work, you didn't need to concentrate overly hard to follow the historical sections within the book. But having said that, Rice described the area, the characters and the struggle between himself and Ursula beautifully. Now, I have to check out Pandora.

Summary: Tragic romance meets satanic vampires, you can't go wrong!
Review: I've enjoyed, like many, all of the Vampire Chronicles (my favorites being "Interview" and "Queen"), and at first I was a bit unsure about this so-called "new" vampire with his gay-sounding name. When I finally got to read it I found out how wrong I was. If you're a fan of the series you'll enjoy the change of setting and the cool new vampires and their dark religion (a bit like Armand's Children Of Darkness, but elegant and very LaVey-esque), but I think the core of the book is the struggle of Vittorio's soul when it's torn between lust for love and lust for salvation. Personally, I enjoy Rice's questions about religion and ocultism (I really liked "Memnoch", can't understand all the hate backlash), and to have that mixed with Shackesperan romance, well... The results are not only entertaining but also inspiring. I liked the way she (the author), at the end of the book, contributed to the growing leyend that these vampires ARE real and that their stories just get to us via Anne Rice's name. A wonderful book. Please read it.

Summary: I love Anne Rice but...
Review: I've read all of the Vampire Chronicles and found most of them very enjoyable. But this book was soooo boring and long winded. I had to force myself to finish. Her last two books Pandora and Armand were readable but definately not her best work. The storylines for all three books were kind of boring. But this by far is her worst book. I wish she'd continue with the Mummy Story. Her Witches were my favorite. Sorry Anne this one wasn't very good at all.

Review: I have enjoyed all of Anne Rice's books, though this one left a little to be desired. Vittorio was entertaining but I feel Mrs. Rice is trying to stretch the vampire chronicles beyond the breaking point. Why concentrate all her energies on the vampires when I believe the witch chronicles to be more interesting. I truly hope she writes more on the subject. All in all I would recommend other books she's writen before this one.
