Rating: Summary: The Long Read Home Review: Oh, my God! I have never read Danielle Steel before, and I certainly expected more than what I got from this bestselling author. The story was full of pathos and grabbed my attention all right, but much of the horror came from the poor quality of her writing and research. Such stories of abuse do exist, but I don't think Steel has a clue about the real impact that the (unrealistic) conditions she set up would have on a young girl like Gabriela. The dialogue was pedestrian and she continually "told" us what emotions her characters were having, rather than "showing" us through skillful storytelling. I will run rather than walk if I see another book by this author coming my way.
Rating: Summary: great book gets your attention. Review: I would recommend this book to everyone. Even if you don't like to read you will find time to read this because you will want to find out what's going to happen. You can't put the book down. The Long Road Home is about this young girl named Gabriella who gets abused by her mother Eloise. Gabriella was then sent to a convent where she stayed throughout her teenage life. There she was faced with many obstacles to overcome to get where she wanted to go. The thing I like about this book was that it had so many surprises. You think that everything was all right then something goes wrong. I hated that Gabriella would get hurt by her mother and other people that she trusted. .
Rating: Summary: The Long Road Home Review: I like this author a lot because she uses lots of detail when she explains anything. I liked this book a lot because it was the kind of book where i couldn't put it down because each page made you want to keep going. During every scene you could imagine a picture because she explained everything so good. I hated it when the Eloise beat Gabrielle. I think that this book deserved 4 stars because it used lots of detail and figurative language and it would have been five stars but it was too long.
Rating: Summary: The Long Road Home Review: This book is really interesting....I like how the author uses every detail to describe something. She uses a lot of figurative language. I havent read the whole book yet but so far I cant seem to put it down because once I finish a chapter it just makes me want to go on.
Rating: Summary: One of Danielle Steel's BEST EVER novels! Review: I was incredibly touched by this book. It was one of those rare stories that touch your soul in a very special way. I am proud to admit that I was not able to put the book down. The first night I started reading, I didn't stop until 2:30 and got about half way through. The second time I picked it up, I didn't stop until I finished! I was impressed by the way she related the story, i could picture every scene, feel all the blows and emotions that Gabriella felt and cried through most of it. It is a masterpiece and I admire Danielle for having written such a gripping story. I ask myself whether it is based on a true story or several true stories.
Rating: Summary: A Book that you must read! Review: This book takes place in a rich home of a little girl who is constantly beaten ny her mother who is excessibly jelous of her little girl. Her mother not only beats her phisically, but emotionally also. Her father who she portrays as Prince Charming never steps in to help his little girl who was also afraid of the mother. Eventually he leaves the mother and the little girl to fend for herself, luckily her mother meets another man and decided to go to Reno while her mother sticks her in a convent and never comes back for her. That happends to be the best thing that happends to her, as she grows up in the convent and wants to live a rich a healthy life but always afraid to go outside the convent walls afraid of what she will find there. But once she is older and commits a sin that is so great they must force her to leave and she is now learning to live on her own. This book is one that you will love! I really recommend this one!
Rating: Summary: She's done it again! Review: A roller coaster of emotions takes you through this book. You'll experience highs and lows and love every minute of it. It touched my soul many times. I loved this book!
Rating: Summary: Th Long Road Home Review: I would say that the Long Road Home has three main sections. The first sections is excellent and I couldn't put it down through out it. The second section I found quite boring. The third section was again very internesting. If you read this book the only thing that I have to say is don't give up on it half way through. Read the whole book!!!
Rating: Summary: Long Road Home Review Review: A fairly depressing book, but Steel does a great job of getting the reader involved in the main character and the book is a quick read. The book leaves you wondering how many bad things can happen to one person. Much like the plot in Steel's "Malice" the book is a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences. It's a great read but will leave you wanting a little pick-me-up.
Rating: Summary: Long Road Home Review: This book is about a strong little girl with the will to survive anything life throws at her. From being abused by her mother, to being abandoned by a lover, to being used and eventually finding someone to love, Gabrielle shows us again and again the power of the human spirit. This book was excellent and made me want to protect and take care of Gabriella as a child, but she makes it through some very difficult things and eventually grows in to a young woman in search of someone she can love and trust. I think she found it in Peter. This is a particularly difficult subject ot write about and I think DS did a great job.
