Rating: Summary: What a Page Turner! Review: I balled through the first Three chapters. Even though this book is fiction. I found hope and healing. My thanks to Danielle Steel
Rating: Summary: Gut-wrenching, heart-wrending, tear jerker Review: This story caught me from the first page on. I had to sit with a box of kleenix at my side. It made me wonder where Ms. Steel got her material; was it something she learned first hand? I wanted to gather Gabriella up in my arms and take her home. How can anyone call themself a parent and then proceed to do that to your own flesh and blood. Eloise deserved a most painful death! Maybe it was a little predicable to have her fall in love with her doctor; however, he was a kind and gentle person and she was well beyond deserving of him. Two thumbs up, Danielle!
Rating: Summary: heavy on the pathos Review: How many terrible things can happen to one person? The plot had too many downers and not enough uppers. Falling in love with your doctor? The ending was too predictable by far.
Rating: Summary: Great Reading, Heart Wrenching. Review: The Long Road Home was such a great book, its overwhelming plot makes it heard not to cry. As I read through the pages I had to take breaks to stop the tears that where starting to fill my eyes. I haven't read d.s. in very long time and once I finished this book, I went to the bookstore to look for another that could top it. And I am still looking, any suggestions? :0)
Rating: Summary: A Real Tear Jerker Review: I have been a fan of Danielle Steele for years but this was the most difficult books I have ever read of hers. The realism and details of the abuse were enough to force me to sit the book down and come back to it later but I did always come back to it after I dried my tears.
Rating: Summary: Long Road Home is a Bumpy Ride Review: This was a disturbing portrayal of the life of an abused child. From the very beginning you feel sorry for young Gabriella who is stuck with a witch for a mother and an impotent excuse for a man as a father. Throughout the book I was hoping that Gabriella would find someone who can stop the violence. This occurs initially when she is dropped off at a convent without a backward glance by her mother. She lives peacefully among the nuns until a scandal erupts from which she will not soon recover. Just when you think she has again found someone with redeeming qualities, they also betray her. The emotions involved in reading this go to extremes of joy, anger, pain, disbelief and a myriad of others. It was an ending worth waiting for, but if you prefer a lighthearted novel, this might not be the one for you.
Rating: Summary: THE BOMBEST BOOK Review: i really liked this book i just didnt like the fact that it made me cry. i just wish that she could have made the ending a little different i wanted gabbie to meet her mother at the end and see wat happens but overall it was the saddest book and the best. there will never be another ds.
Rating: Summary: Tissues, anyone? Review: I found, as a person with physical abuse in my past, this novel was very touching and difficult to read. However, it reinforced very sharply to me several important points. Steel advocated through her writing that a person cannot blame themself for life occurrences beyong their control and among other things, it is important to face your past. I instantly felt connected with Gabbie. She captured childhood thoughts I still clearly remember verbatim out of my mind. This is my new favorite book. A must-read! Trust me, it's worth your time!! (and don't forget the kleenex!)
Rating: Summary: I think this book says how important a child life is. Review: This was my first time reading a Danielle Steel book, it made me cry , laugh and many more emotions i didn't think i would feel with a fiction book. I would like to say that as a foster-parent it made me appreciate my foster -child more ,because he had come from a simalar situation and the affects stay for a lifetime. I was expecting a little more to happen as far as the mother-daughter relationship went but in the end it worked out for Gabby.
Rating: Summary: inspiring, motivational story Review: This book shows the courage of a young child who was abused and rejected by both her parents. Through the years, she stayed trapped with a mother who did not love her and saw her as an obstacle, rather than the blessing that any child is. This young girl was placed into a convent and learned that she had value and a purpose. She expeirenced love, despair and then found one special man, that changed her life forever
