Review: ... [T]he tapes are very frustrating, the pace moves to quickly, they do not give you enough time to respond (if is very frustrating when the narrator asks me to respond in Spanish & then he starts talking before I am anywhere near finishing -- it is not easy to pause the tape while driving -- other tapes I have used give enough time to respond & think) & the English speaking narrator is annoying -- may be useful as a supplement or for someone who is brushing up in Spanish -- but terrible for someone who is trying to LEARN the language.

Summary: Real Communication, Really Fast!!
Review: I am a former US diplomat and current international business consultant. I can say that Language Dynamics courses are the only courses I know of that are truly dedicated to effective and immediate communication in the target language. Academic courses often reflect the literary interests of professors, many of whom never had the experience of learning the target language as a second language. With these courses, you can hit the streets after every lesson knowing you can say more than you could yesterday.

Review: I live near a major metropolitan area in the West and I do lots of driving every day. Combine this with the fact that my time daily evaporates and you will appreciate more what I have to say here. I bought Absolute Spanish with the expectation of learning some Spanish during my two hour daily commute. I couldn't have been more wrong. I have learned A LOT of Spanish during this commute, and what I have learned I owe to this great course. The thing that makes it so effective for me is that all the Spanish comes with English definitions so I don't have to stop the car to look anything up. Add to this the fact that the instructor and Luis (the native speaker) always repeat enough so that if you space out for a second, get honked at, or whatever, you still catch the lesson. My impressions of this course are that it is simple, easy to understand, and effective. I find it nearly unbelievable that I have been able to speak as much basic Spanish as I now do in such a short period of time. The instructor mentions page numbers on several occasions througout the tapes and then says that it is not necessary to look at the book at that moment. I usually wait for a quiet time once a week at home to review my commute lessons with the listening guide. I like this guide too because it has the complete tapescript so you can look and see what you've been hearing all week and learn the proper spelling. The guide is also compact so I can carry it around with me in my pocket and look at it sometimes during the day. The best part of the manual are the answer keys. After every exercise they give you the complete answer written out so I can check my work. It's great.
