Rating: Summary: Wonderful book! Couldn't put it down! Review: Wow, Michael Moore really says it like it is! The first part of his book talks about all the connections that Bush and the Bin Laden Family have had over the years, which is really twisted. Later on, he talks about all the lies that the Bush Administration has filled our minds with (Whoppers he calls them) he also includes a guide to the Patriot Act and tips on talking to your conservative brother-in-law. Very funny, and at times, brutally honest. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Hard for this proud citizen to read Review: I kind of thought I knew what to expect as I started to read this book. I thought it would be kind of educational, kind of biting and kind of funny.Well, I guess it is all those things at times. At other times it simply broke my heart. I finally decided to walk over to the Federal Building and finish it while sitting there on one of the new protective, anti-terrorist, concrete barricades. Some of the facts that Moore brings up just broke my heart and I felt as though I wanted to be somewhere that my prayers for my country could best be heard. It wasn't to long before a FBI agent came out and questioned and ID'd me which only added irony to the pain I was feeling at the moment. I'm not kidding. I wish I was but I am not. I won't try to describe the book because I see that it has been done many times already by people who are much better writers than me but I wonder why the facts in this book are no where in the news. They are all foot-noted and referenced many times over and come from credible sources, but for me it was many times the first I had heard such things. Where is our fourth branch of government? It seems that us average, working, family raising and struggling Americans, which are the vast majority of us, have been forgotten and left unprotected by everybody. So the book is one of the best ones I have read but it was also very hard for my heart to hear. (...)
Rating: Summary: Michael Moore: An Exemplary Capitalist Review: I find curious Moore's suggestion that economic advancement for all of us but a self-chosen few is dead in the world. Moore himself was down-and-out in the great crash of the US auto industry, finding his home town in monetary ruins thanks to GM's fold-up. What did Moore do? He acted upon an idea, and made a fine satirical documentary film wherein he attempted to pin down GM's CEO for some answers (along with several amusing sidelines). The film was successful, critically and financially, and opened the door to a new career for Moore, including the interesting series, TV Nation, some books and an Oscar-winning film. Michael Moore has aggressively pursued the free-market capitalist's dream, creating for himself an individual wealth-producing machine more potent than any he might ever have operated on a GM assembly line. He is making a lot money for himself, and he has become quite wealthy. He is a rich man now, up from nothing. How can he possibly conclude that success of this sort cannot be achieved by anyone else? Isn't he living the American dream?
Rating: Summary: Got Truth? Review: Haven't even read this yet, but I'll give it a five If too many Americans can give their blind allegiance to a lying, murdering thief like King Curious George II & the special interests he serves, I can sure as hell trust my faith to Michael Moore. What are all y'all afraid of? The truth? Face it, your time is over. There are many MOORE Americans waking up everyday to the lies they are being served daily. Perhaps I'm simple minded, but I don't see the justice in killing Iraqi citizens and American GIs so Halliburton & other evil corporations can get fat, no compete contracts. Wake up and smell the petoleum morons!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Review: Sure to stir up the hornets nest of Republican, by God, knee-slapp'n hate.
Rating: Summary: Moore Lies with Al Franken.........and gets Saddam-ized Review: How can you take a book about politics seriously when it is written by a teen pop sensation? First of all, when did Mandy Moore grow a mustache and gain an additional 53678 pounds? She used to be admirable but now looks like Andre the Giant after eating 300 Big Macs in one sitting! She still looks very feminine (though in an very repulsive Ellen Degenerate-like way), even without wearing pink! And her politics are still very feminine, for some reason that struck me. When you read this book it comes to life and speaks to you! In fact it comes to life so much.....So much that you can smell something resembling Richard Gere's gerbil coming out of the author's bad breath. BTW, I hope Gere names his book Dude, Where's My Intestine? A fact you should know when buying this book is that a couple of years back Moore visited Colorado to film the propaganda for his antigun movie. Yoda may have also told authorities that Moore allowed a famous baskeball star to DOUBLE DRIBBLE his BALLS while he was in Colorado. And it was consentual but considered adultery. And to top that, it is said that Moore could be the only man in history who would use the FORCE in the wrong moment. For example, if Yoda were to ever drop a bar of soap and bend over to pick it up that's when Moore might decide to use the FORCE. Which book is a breath of fresh air in an oversaturated market? This one isn't it. On the contrary, the fats in Moore's backside seem to be oversaturated, they should be classified as a weapon of mass destruction by the UN. Moore always gets Saddamized by Al Franken on the bestselling book charts. This also happens elsewhere with Franken and Moore. George Micheal probably videotapes when Franken and Moore both enter the same men's room. Dude, Lookout for the COPS! Dude, I now have a stuttering problem and whe.. whe... Where's Mrs. Moore's Count.... COUNT..... CUN..... Tree? Perhaps Mandy Moore was given the wrong operation and became disgruntled and wrote this book. Please don't let Christina Ugly-era follow in this direction.
Rating: Summary: Conservatives can't spel guud Review: I've looked at a lot of your reviews concerning books from The Left versus books from The Right and have found that a large number of right-wingers do not have the ability to spell even simple words correctly. Could that be because they are the products of home-schooling or the private schools that they want to get vouchers for their children to attend? If you want to make a valid point, please get one of your friends with a complete set of teeth to proofread your ramblings. Also, "What's with the really wacko ones capitalizing all of their words?!" Emphasis is best understood when the words and ideas that you want to stand out are capitalized in sets or groups of phrases. I guess all of your grammar teachers were stinking LIBERALS.
Rating: Summary: Oprah, will you reconsider? Review: For those of us still in shock and awe over Bush stealing the presidency, this book will get you up off the couch and ready to go campaign and vote. My only criticism is that the future fantasy chapter and the God talk could have been edited. Michael just writes best when he is being himself.
Rating: Summary: YOU CONVINCED ME TO BUY IT!! Review: I decided to buy this book after reading the customer reviews. You see, it appears that everyone who actually read the book rated it a four or five. However, isn't it interesting that the people who gave it one star didn't even bother to read the book? I found that so interesting that I decided there must be something else that the Republicans are trying to hide. After all, they are spending their time writing book reviews about an author who threatens them. Interesting . . . . I guess it's time for me to read the book. After all, we "flaming liberals" have so much more time on our hands to read, don't we? :)
Rating: Summary: Anyone but Bush in 2004! Review: Whenever I read a political book I always come to amazon.com's review section to read what others have to say about the book. It's so easy to tell the hate-filled conservatives from the easy-going liberals. The liberals generally like books written by authors from the left (no big surprise there). However, they often have criticisms about some of the author's ideas and express their opposition in a calm and intelligent manner. Wingers, on the other hand, write reviews that make them seem like ravings lunatics or psychopaths (which is what they accuse the liberals of being). They sound like Coulter, O'Reilly and Limbaugh - shouting down those that disagree with them and resorting to name-calling. As Moore says in his book, they sound frightened - acting the way children do when they get angry and scared. It's so easy to tell that these ignorant few who do not know how to spell or know basic rules of grammer have not read the book. They write two or three sentences filled with venom and bitterness but have no real criticism of the book iteself. I enjoyed this book as much as 'Stupid White Men' but not as much as Moore's movie 'Bowling Columbine.' In all of his criticisms of Bush & Co., he never once accepts part of the blame for the Greens taking enough of the vote away from Gore so that Bush could "win" the election. Yes, the Democrats are sometimes as bad as some Repulicans, but they also gave us people such as Wellstone and Feingold. I whole-heartedly agree with Moore that the number one priority for 2004 is to get rid of Bush. As the slogan from democraticunderground.com says "Anyone But Bush 2004." I agree that Clark is an interesting guy to watch and is pretty much saying all the right things and it would be great to see his ad campaigns call Bush to task for going AWOL during Vietnam. The only real problems I had with the book were the "fantasy" chapters. I'm not religious so I don't care if he pretends to be god, I just think there's a more effective way to get the same point across than lapsing into fantasy. As another reviewer mentioned, he does a great job of using credible sources to back up what he says, unlike Coulter's bogus "footnotes" that she is so proud of. Too bad that so many of them have been found to be bogus sources. I'm also glad to see that Moore's book is being read by folks from abroad - the rest of the world needs to know that most Americans do not support the Bush agenda no matter what his ratings are this week.
