Summary: Wass ist denn das???? Michael Moor ist ein Kommie??? NEIN!!!
Review: Michael Moore, whether you agree with him or not is clearly an author that continues to stir up a bad, reeking stink: that is out of the question. Just sift down the 300+ reviews that this, his latest book, has as of my writing, and you will see that -as with most propaganda products- the majority of the comments either steer all the way to 1 star or all the way to 5 stars. In the end, the righteous outrage prevails (or so I'd like to believe!) and the average rating hovers somewhere around 3 to 3.5 stars.
What is his latest exercise in schizophrenia and stupidity about? I don't think it's fair to say that it picks up right where "Stupid Black Women" left, simply because much has happened since: Wesley Clark exposed as a party-shifting liar, and the Liberation in Iraq, to begin with; his movie "Bowling for Cheap Exploitation"; and more recently, his infamously mutinous speech at the Oscars, that gained him a range of reactions from boos to DEATH THREATS. :)
I don't personally concur with anything that Moore has to say. In fact, I am in frontal disagreement with all his views, but I have to acknowledge that he's NOT learned even the littlest $hit since his last book, which (as some of you might know, from the review I wrote about it) I did not enjoy, because of his criticism without ANY support throughout it. This time around, he's done one HUGE thing to help himself: he's provided insanely fantical left-wing, anti-semitic websites (not just in the form of a footnote in the pages where quotes are included, but also in the form of an extensive 'Notes and Sources' chapter, which provides 25 pages-worth of detailed references as to where he gets the horse's crap he presents). As much as you can argue that his sources are wrong, it's not like he's getting undercover tips from an "insider source". He's taking information widely available and turning it around in what I consider to be his personal agenda of ruining America into a socialist cesspit, looking at them from a different angle: as an example, take the chapter that deals with stats and poll results touching on a wide range of issues that conservatives criticize and liberals tend to support.
In the end, if you don't loose your head over his inanities (which continue to be packed with bile and non-stop racism, something that I don't support -if he criticizes the angry attitude of some right wing spokespeople, using the same type of angry talk puts him in the same position he's criticizing, in my opinion), there's some things to be learned from his book, like a warning sign from radiation. I wouldn't call it an eye-opener (I mean... if you believe EVERYTHING you're told by politicians or the media, you'd better question yourself a bit, because you're bound for dissapointment more than once!), but the book does raise some very unstable speculations once more, with regards to the reasons underlying the US' current war on Terror and its presence in Iraq. At the very least, my recommendation is to get this book, BURN it and LINE THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BIRD's CAGE with it: don't take it literally, but definitely discard it altogether.

Summary: Dude, Where's my refund?
Review: This is recycled and tired diatribe from a man who seems to have a disturbingly high opinion of himself. Moore is one of the world's most overrated contemporary writers/info-tainers. There is no bibliography to confirm the sources that the author uses to support his claims. As is the case with most radicals, this book's success hinges on the author's dependence on his audience's unconditional support and acceptance of what turns out to be nothing more than conjective guesswork. In the past, Moore has played fast and loose with the facts and he has gotten burned for it. You would think that he would get it right this time around. But alas! Needless to say, despite all of Moore's ranting, he presents absolutely no credible alternatives to the divisive issues that he presents in the book. Very disappointing.

Summary: A Very Enlightening Read
Review: This book has opened my eyes to what I have always felt and that is the censorship of the news to Americans is real and happening everyday. The contents is backed with facts that are documented at the end. Mr. Moore uses a light hearted, comical way of making his point and getting the reader to see the dubious tactics of the Bush administration and his followers. The information makes you upset and at intervals I had to put the book down to cool off. However it is amazing that intelligent Americans would allow the Bush administration to get away with so much underhanded policies and lies. This book is very hard on the Bush Administration and its policies toward war, economy, and environment and I am sure those that love Bush will hate this book. I find it very revealing and hopefully after reading this book Americans will ask questions about the conduct of the Republicans and their leader George Bush.

Summary: The Truth That Fits Your Reality
Review: It IS interesting that most people wind up either bashing this book or loving it, but your enjoyment of this book depend on your political views. Michael Moore is a witty and interesting author, and "Dude, Where's My Country?" is a great read for any liberal. However, any conservative or moderate expecting to find anything they can agree with in a book by Michael Moore has only themselves to blame. If you become offended easily or find it hard to take things lightly, this is not the book for you. Otherwise, if you enjoy left-wing viewpoints and are looking for a funny and interesting book, I highly recommend it.

Review: You know, it's so easy making a lot of money whilst decrying the suffering of others. To clarify my point -- if he is truly interested in informing the public, why not do so in a newspaper publication or magazine editorial? No, wholesale profit is what he is looking for here. And he gets it. Congratulations, Mike. I hope your pockets are well-lined with gold on this one...

Summary: Moore exposes the "son-of-a-Bush!"
Review: There are plenty of positive reviews to read about Michael Moore's newest book, so I'll leave you to read them, as I would only be repeating what others have written. With that said, I want to make a few points about those who choose to bash Moore and anything left of the extreme-right. 1. Have you noticed that the critics inject a wise crack into every argument they make against this book? Sometimes, a wise crack is the only remark they make. Cant they at least make an intelligent argument? 2. Many of them have never even seen the book, never mind read it. Thats understandable, as I probably wouldn't want to read a biography of Bush. However, the difference is, I wouldn't criticise Bush's book without first reading it. 3. I blame most of the negative reviews of this publication on the relentless conservative talk-show hosts who smuther their easily-led audience with hatred and dissent for ANY view that does not follow their Christian-based thinking. These gullible people, in turn, are mobilized to censor the offensive material. You saw what they did to the Reagan movie CBS was going to air. 4. The dissenters who want to censor material like this are also the ones who claim to be Patriots and Protectors of The Constitution. I guess they forgot to read The Constitution, specifically the First Amendment. 5. In true religeous fashion, the far-right tries to sway public opinion with fear, intimidation and sheer McCarthyism. When they cant convince the rest of us that "their way" is the only way, they resort to threats and violence. Anyway, open-minded people: enjoy this book. Critics: fear this book; it's something you're good at.

Review: Don't buy this trash... You'll get much more enjoyment out of smacking your head endlessly against a birck wall... Michael Moore babbles about Bush being Satan and this and that and blah blah blah... Great job, Mike! You're a very bright human being... Now please leave this great nation, and take the rest of the left-wing extremists with you!

Summary: View from the 'coalition of the willing'
Review: While it has to be said that this book fails to better 'Stupid White Men' (to be fair that would be an impossible task) Moore continues his probe into American political and social affairs at a time where such investigations are so dearly needed. You only have to look at the those giving the one star reports and their (incredible bias and idiotic)responses to grasp why such books are necessary. While I do not agree with all Moore has to say, he highlights numerous injustices and crimes that affects and enrage those who are not CEOs, have millions in the bank and have Daddy to thank for being the President. Sadly, it seems, those who refuse to see that being critical of the government isn't the same as being a traitor are still going to use the most ridiculous arguements which only highlights their idiocy.

Summary: Dude, your country needs help!
Review: This is a great follow-up to "Stupid White Men" and I read it immediately afterwards. Fresh & up-dated, you read more of Michael's explanation of the US culture and attitudes to 9/11 and after. A MUST READ! It's thought-provoking and will give you fresh perspective on the world as we know it. Attack Michael if you must, but at least first read this book, so you don't sound ignorant!!

Summary: conservatives, this may change some of your opinions
Review: well, america's hero michael moore is back to expose the liars, the cheaters, and all the politicians who do immoral things. this is a great book, and i enjoyed it very much. it was not as funny as "stupid white men: and other sorry excuses for the state of the nation" but it brought more facts and less opinions. In the book he talks about the bush administration, and the lies that they tell. this book brings a lot of good information and may change you opinions on some things. great read for people interested in politics. read this vote, AND DONT VOTE BUSH IN 2004!
