Rating: Summary: Captivating, exciting, and suspenseful Review: Captivating, exciting, and suspenseful. A Time To Kill by John Grisham is a breathtaking novel, where A young lawyer is asked to represent a father who took justice into his own hands./ In the mostly white rural town of Clanton a horrible crime occurs where a afro-american father takes justice into his own hands. As the town is torn apart over the whole incident a young lawyer gets caught up trying to save the mans life./ Suspenseful and emotional A Time To Kill by John Grisham is by far the best book I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: Grisham's best!!! Review: Well I have heard people say that an authors first work of writing is his best. This is definitely true for the one and only John Grisham. I may only be 13, but I know a wonderful piece of writing when I see it! I have read other books by John Grisham, but A Time To Kill is number one. It's my favorite book and one of my favorite movies. I love this book because it's very exciting and keeps on the edge of your seat throughout the whole story! The courtroom drama is amazing and very...uhhh...I can't think of a good word right now but it was just wonderful. I personally did not the thing about the word "nigger" being repeated so many times, though. I love the characters, they seem so real. If there is a book that is better than this one, I would love to see it because I think this book should win an award for best book of the decade! END
Rating: Summary: Excelent Review: This book is one of the most fabulous pieces of fine litterature in the world today. tha cunning storyline haad me captured from page one. i would highly reccomend anyone to read this book. JUST DO IT At the end I would like to thank John Grisham for writing this book. The fackt that is magnificantely written, made me choose this book for my yearly bookreport.
Rating: Summary: Thought-Provoking, and Paints a Great Picture! Review: Grisham has produced many wonderful novels, but this one really makes you think. Who among us has not been sickened when the justice system makes victims out of the criminals, and forgets the innocent? Grisham dives deep down into the innermost feelings of a man who wants justice, even if that means breaking the law himself. Absolutely spectacular, and by far my favorite Grisham book!
Rating: Summary: spectacular Review: this was the first grisham book that i read and i have loved him ever since. the whole story line was great. go out and buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Only Read This Book If You Have Time To Kill Review: John Grisham created a captivating and suspenseful story that drew me in from the first page. The horrendous crime that is committed in the opening pages is enough to devastate any small town, but Clanton is struck by a crime with twisted circumstances and unpredictable complications. The trial story not only involves a strong racial issue, but it left me questioning my own definition of justice. While the story is suspenseful and exciting, it lacks depth and insight that make a novel a masterpiece. When I read A Time to Kill, I wanted to be able to figure some things out for myself. Grisham told me everything in plain English, and consequentially the novel was a less challenging and less exciting read. An exceptional novel contains two elements: a spectacular story line and plot, and a skilled writing style and techniques. Grisham masters only the first of these two things. A Time to Kill is an entertaining story because it containing a thrilling and exciting topic that naturally interests anyone. The subject of a story is not as critical as how well a story is told. John Grisham created a magnificent story, but he could have told it a little better.
Rating: Summary: ugh!!! Review: The worst book I've ever read. Insipid, shallow, ridiculous plot. If you want your intelligence to be insulted pick up a copy. John Grisham should not have given up his day job!
Rating: Summary: A very moving story! Review: For Grisham's first book, this is an awesome and moving tale that every parent should be able to put themselves in Carl Lee's shoes. He's torn by the rape and beatings done to his innocent daughter and felt it just to take the law into his own hands by killing the two men responsible for the injustice done to his daughter. Enter Jake Brigance, attorney at law. Jake is a very good attorney, one that I'd want representing me if I were a Defendant. Very good job, Mr. Grisham!
Rating: Summary: Grisham's Masterpiece Review: This is the BEST Grisham book ever. Anyone will love it.
Rating: Summary: One of JG's best! Review: A thought-provoking story that touches the human emotions. A Time To Kill is a story that isn't so much about racism than it is about humanity...that we can all emphatize with Carl Lee's anguish, pain and hatred towards the men who raped his daughter, that we could all wonder if we would have done the same thing if we have been in his shoes. Should a murderer gets away with the crime even if his victims were bad guys and deserved to die?
