Summary: It was a unique novel worth reading.
Review: My Antonia by Willa Cather is set in the farmlands of Nebraska during the late 1800's. The main characters are a young inexperienced boy named Jim and a strong willed girl named Antonia. I thought the book was unique and worth reading.

It was like a fresh breath of air from reading other stuffy books. The first reason I liked it was because the setting was clear. I never knew what Nebraska looked like until I read the book! I felt like I was standing on the long, red, grassy farmlands. The author described the setting so that the reader could get a better feeling for the story. Another reason was the characters were described very well. The main characters, Jim and Antonia were described to make you feel that they were like real people. Jim snuck out of his house to go to the Fireman's dances every Friday night, when his Grandparents forbid him to go. Antonia had a child with her fiancé who ran away from her before they were married. The last reason was the theme was fantastic. The theme was Jim's admiration for Antonia. Even when Antonia had a bunch of kids and was older, he still admired her inner strength, intelligence, and beauty.

My Antonia is a different kind of a romantic novel. It wasn't gushy, otherwise I wouldn't have read it at all! The novel was exciting and a really good page-turner. My Antonia is a novel you would want to read sometime during your lifetime.

Summary: An Inspiring Story Of Friendship- A Must Read Novel
Review: I had to read this book for my high school English class and I wasn't looking forward to another boring novel. However, what a found was an amazing story that touched my heart so deeply that I was crying at the end! My Antonia is so sincere,so pure, and tells such a heartfelt story that I was absorbed into reading it in one night. It gives a message that friendship prevails and that one can endure through the hard times! This book is definitely a must read!

Summary: A wistful and beautifully written look at the past.
Review: This was the first Willa Cather book I have ever read. I was amazed at the beauty of her descriptions, and how Cather could help you to know the land and the people. You were also able to see how much Cather loved Nebraska. Her imagery was so terrific. And the stories were ones that will stay with you. She is an amazing writer, and I am anxious to read more of her books.

Summary: willa cather's my antonia
Review: this book is beautiful in the simplistic writing which matches the style of the story... true, this story has no complicated characters and practically no plot, but in a way it is such a sweet story and so beautifully written that i found it a fast read... i found it to be a very eloquent expression of love, the lives of pioneers and what it truly means to be passionate... what true success in life is...

Summary: I loved this book so much I finnished it in two days!
Review: I'm an avid reader of the Classics and to tell you the truth I was not too enthusiastic about this one at first, but after the first chapter I was hooked. I found it facinating and wonterful how the story portrayed these hard working women of the past in an adoring way. It made me want to be the kind of woman that they were; strong, courageous, and determined. Not only were the characters amazing, but the way Willa Cather described the hard times of winter made me feel as if I were sitting out in the cold of Nebraska rather than my warm home. One line that I read will forever stay with me " it was as if we were being punnished for loving the loveliness of summer."

Summary: My Antonia lacked a griping story and plot
Review: I had to read this book for a school term paper (Women In Amreican Literature), and I found it to be rather boring. Of course, it could be because I had to compare it to books like The Awakening, and The Scarlet Letter... so it may just be that compard to the two of those, it seemed rather drab. However, I didn't expect any of these books to grab me...but the ones that did, can't even measure up to My Antonia. My Antonia just seemed so dull and it felt as though it was lacking something.

Summary: I've only read 220 pages of this book but...Yuck!
Review: I love to write and I love to read. But there's only so much I can read about the open prarie and immigrants as presented in this book. "Sign of the Beaver" that I read in 5th grade was much more interesting than this so far. I hope my opinion changes.

Summary: Breath in the health, Breath in a classic
Review: I loved this book! The blunt language, the short chapter, the main narrative view that evolved around the female Antonia, such a treat to read. Such a classical novel I've enjoyed. Fresh and crispy, you can feel the immigration and their first breathes of American air.

Summary: fairly good
Review: I liked it but didn't understand why the last section, "Cuzak's Boy's" was included

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: My Antonia very much worth reading!
Review: I, too, was required to read this book for a class. However, unlike others I have had to read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I couldn't put it down; I read it within three days. It made me cry; the description of the father of the family yearning for his homeland was especially touching. Read this book by all means!
