Summary: Rightfully a classic - for the child in all of us!
Review: If you were the kind of child who always asked the "why?" question, and who liked to challenge what everyone else regarded as normal, you'll love this book. In "Wonderland", Lewis Carroll questions everything about life that is normal, and gives us a picture of a world where everything that we accept as normal is turned upside down. With Alice, you'll fall into a rabbit hole and enter an imaginary and wacky world where nothing is at it seems. Here's a small taste:

"By-the-bye, what became of the baby?" said the Cat. "I'd nearly forgotten to ask." "It turned into a pig,' Alice answered very quietly, just as if the Cat had come back in a natural way. "I thought it would," said the Cat, and vanished again.

"they drew all manner of things - everything that begins with an M - " "Why with an M?" said Alice. "Why not?" said the March Hare.

If you find this kind of surreal world even remotely attractive, then you're sure to love Alice's "Wonderland". You'll be amazed by the cat-less grin of the Cheshire-Cat, amused by the absurd logic of the mad Hatter, and in hysterics over the antics of the murderous Queen of Hearts with her constant refrain of "Off with his head." "Alice in Wonderland" is full to the brim with wild humour, farcical fantasy, witty wisecracks, and slapstick comedy. What I especially enjoyed were the abundance of delightful puns, paradoxes, and parodies. Much of the deeper significance will escape young children, but they will enjoy it as a fantastic story, and rediscover it with even greater pleasure as adults. A "classic" is a book that appeals to people of all times and ages, and that's certainly the case with "Alice in Wonderland."

Is "Alice in Wonderland" all nonsense? I don't think so. Behind the outer layer of nonsense Carroll conveys a great deal of sense. He allows you to return to reality with a renewed appreciation for everything that is normal and accepted. Yet this fantasy world is at the same time so nonsensical and enjoyable, that you'll want to return there many a time. Don't be satisfied with a movie edition or simplified version of Alice - nothing is as enjoyable as the original! Truly a classic for the child in all of us!

Summary: Must Read.
Review: It's amazing that many people have never read this book. After all, it's virtually impossible to find an American unfamiliar with the story, the characters, and the instantly recognizable illustrations. Yet, in truth, plenty of adults have never plowed through the brilliant but dated prose contained within the pages of Alice In Wonderland. And most of those never will because it is perceived as a children's tale and a book that they needn't bother with since they already know the basic story. This is a mistake.

Alice In Wonderland is a unique and clever book. The fact that interest in it has survived so long is testament to its quality. The bizarre characters, which visually and playfully appeal to children, converse in clever riddles and political subtext that go over their heads and talk directly to more intellectual adults. This is a ground-breaking work, so completely off-the-wall that it's hard to imagine it having been published so many decades ago.

Through The Looking Glass is Carroll's return to Wonderland, a special treat for readers disappointed by Alice In Wonderland's premature ending. The fun and mystery continue and improve in this second volume with the classic and irony-filled chess game.

Chess-playing cards, hookah-smoking mushroom dwellers, shape-changing elixirs, and disappearing cats. This is an adult fable. Carroll invites us into his dream, and we share his fantastic experience through the clarity of a writer's genius. Don't skip these books. --Christopher Bonn Jonnes, author of Wake Up Dead.

Summary: Closest movie I've seen based on Lewis Carrol's novel
Review: Alice's adventures begin when she follows the White Rabbit (Red Buttons) down a rabbit hole and falls down, down, down. Alice lives an ordinary sort of life, until the day she finds herself in the most wonderfull world of mad tea parties and remarkable characters like the Mad Hatter (Anthony Newley), the Duchess (Martha Raye), the Cheshire Cat (Telly Savals) and the Mock Turtle (Ringo Starr). Alice is delighted to find that nothing in Wonderland is the least bit ordinary.

Summary: Ahh, the good ole` days!
Review: I remember watching this as a small child and loving it to death! I recently had a hanker`in to watch it again so i found i here and loved it! I've watched it 2000 times since I bought it and it is the greatest thing ever! When I was small I never realized what a star-studded cast was in it but now I look back and these are some of the most famous people of their time. I remember watching the Jam song, sung by Carol Channing, and my mom would always scream at me because she couldn't stand it!

Summary: missing links
Review: I was extactic to find this movie! Once recieved i viewed it immediately to find that there were very many missing pieces to a puzzle that once was full. The lion and the unicorn were missing as well as phyllis dillard and the jam song. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were absent, and the singing flowers were a now show. In fact, the clip that is on the back of the case is not even in the movie. In my opinion, the entire story line was changed just by editting these few and important pieces of the movie. It didnt even end the same..i was very dissappointed!

Summary: Natalie Gregory Makes An Adorable Alice
Review: I was just reading the review in which a person said that they were a little disappointed that there were cut scenes. Well I found that those scenes were in the video release. Anyhow, I made a huge mistake when I said the Martin Short version of Alice in Wonderland was tops. I watched this movie today, both parts including Alice Through the Looking Glass. Even though the special FX aren't as good, I still love it the best. They changed the story of Alice around a bit, and made it more of a story. The way they made it so Alice wasn't home after her adventures in Wonderland. The thing I like about this movie is that everything is light and not dark. The acting is cheery and makes it an excellent family movie. The only thing is, on the second part, there is a monster called the Jabberwocky whom might scare little kids and might give them nightmares. But even so, this is probably tops of Alice history! (At least I think).

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE EVER!
Review: I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS MOVIE FOREVER, MY COUSIN HAD A COPY FROM THE TV WHEN IT AIRED IN 85, I WAS ONLY 11 THEN, SHE MOVED SO MANY TIMES THAT THE MOVIE WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. I'VE LOOKED IN MOVIE STORES AND ASKED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE BUT ALL I COULD FIND WAS THE DUMB ALICE IN WONDERLAND CARTOON MOVIES, THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER. IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT...YOU'RE MISSING OUT!

Summary: interesting tweaking of language-through the looking glass
Review: _through the looking glass_ is conceptually more involving than alice's adventures in wonderland. lewis carroll, not a real name of the author, was a mathematician. he was not among the first-rate scholars of the time and he spent more time worrying about fundamental and hidden meanings behind certain mathematical functions. and his masterpiece happens not to be his works in logic. it is rather this tweaking of language in logic through these children stories. enjoy and try to find out absurdities of our own language from humpty-dumpty and other curious characters.

Summary: Better than Wonderland
Review: I would argue that this text offers more than WONDERLAND. Political, social, economic satire as well as deep, deep philosophy wrapped nicely around a figurative game of chess with a guest appearance by Caroll as the White Knight bidding fairwell to his title character, she having finally grown up.
