Summary: One of Nora's Best
Review: River's End is one of the first Nora Roberts books that I read. It is also one of my favorites. The tale of mystery and love is craftily woven in the fashion that Nora Roberts does so well.

Olivia MacBride's world was shattered when, at the age of 4, a monster came and killed her mother. Her father, Sam Tanner, was later charged with the murder. Left an orphan, Olivia is taken in by her grandparents and raised at River's End in the Olympic Rain Forest. Olivia's memories of that night are vague and no one, not her grandparents or her Aunt Val and Uncle David, will tell her anything about the past. At 13, Olivia is determined to find out what happened, so she gets in touch with the kind police officer, Frank Brady, who helped her that fateful night. Frank's family, including his son Noah who is close to Olivia's age, take a vacation at River's End. This meeting spurs a life long friendship between Noah and Olivia.

As Olivia matures, so does her relationship with Noah. Until one day when Olivia's advances towards Noah are refused, causing a rift between the two. Then, a few years later, Olivia's father is released from prison and doubt begins to cloud her mind about his guilt. Olivia starts to get strange calls, flowers delivered to her, and she swears someone is watching her. Will Olivia be able to forgive Noah and let him help her? Is Sam Tanner really her mother's killer?

Of course, I won't give that away, but I will tell you that if you pay attention the clues are right there and it's not too terribly difficult to discover if Sam really is the killer or not. That discovery, however, is not the real treasure of River's End, rather, it is the relationship that develops between Olivia and Noah. It moves from childhood friendship, to a sweet young romance, to heated passion and is the reason that River's End is one of my favorite Nora Robert's novels. This type of romance is Nora Robert's forte. She gives the reader these romances without turning her novels into the trashy romance type. If you haven't read anything by Nora Roberts before, River's End is a wonderful novel to start with.

Summary: A refreshing surprise!
Review: I have to admit, when I read the summary of River's End, I was not impressed. But since I am, and have been, and avid Nora Roberts fan for years now, I decided to give this one a chance. From the opening chapters describing the murder of Olivia's Hollywood-sweetheart mother, and the aftermath of the horror, I was glued. Olivia was four when she went downstairs to find her mother murdered and her father holding the weapon. The dialogue between little Olivia and her family and detectives was an emotional roller-coaster, especially since my daughter is at that age now herself!!
Twenty-plus years later, the story moves to memories and romance and a twisted mystery that left me completely confused, yet widly entertained (and very unproductive since I had a hard time putting this one down for too long.) Noah Brady is an ideal hero who helps drag Olivia out of the bubble her grandparents trapped her in as a child. He is a very strong lead for this story and you will fall in love with him just as I did. The character of Olivia (adult) was a little harder to accept for me, however you will find yourself envious of her strength and independence!
All-together I found the book a great entertaining read and a wonderful way to kill your time in an otherwise productive day!

Summary: the best book ever!!!!!!
Review: This is the only book I have ever read in only one night and I actually read it again a year later because it was so interesting. You can't put the book down. It gets you hooked right at the beginning. It got me started to read other books that Nora Roberts has ritten. This book has got to be my favorite so far.

Summary: A satisfying and suspenseful read
Review: "River's End" by Nora Roberts is a well-written story, full of interesting characters and incredible descriptions. Olivia and Noah were very well-developed and both very likeable. The story covers many years, from Liv's childhood all the way up to adulthood. When Olivia was very young, her mother was murdered and her father was tried and convicted of the crime. The story revolves around the effect that one horrible event has had on Olivia's life, and her relationship with Noah, the son of the police officer who found her on the night of the murder. Noah wants to tell Liv's father's story in a book, but some unexpected events begin to indicate something no one was prepared for. The suspense builds effectively, and the ending is a big surprise!
Although I found the majority of this book very engaging, there were some passages and sections that were too drawn out and overly long that I had to force myself to get through.
Overall, however, this book is well worth reading and will leave you satisfied.

Summary: This isn't romantic suspense...
Review: But it's excellent suspence fiction. Let me put it this way: I was recommended this book because the person who passed it on to me believed it was the height of romantic suspense. But I disagree. There's only enough romance in the book to add a dimension to the story. The story in and of itself is a riveting, can't-put-it-down kind of story, and for that Nora Roberts has earned well her accolades. This title represents my introduction to the world of Nora Roberts, and I find I am in good company. The author has a huge devoted following, and now I understand why. I recommend this interesting read.

Summary: Very, Very, Good
Review: I thought this book was great. The story twisted right up until the very end, and of course, I was clueless. A quick and entertaining read!

Summary: Wonderful!!
Review: River's End was an excellent book. I normally don't read mystery novels, but, I have read alot of Nora's, and nobody does them like her. I love the way her characters become a part of you. It's like you are there with them at cetain points in the book. I truly felt for Noah as he tried to climb over Olivia's 1000 foot wall, and I felt her pain and terror as a child and then again as an adult. The ending was such a surprise to me, I held my mouth open for at least a full five minutes! One of Nora's best, definitley!!

Summary: I wish I could give this book 10 stars
Review: This book is worth more then 5 stars I read it two years ago after my grandmother recommanded it to me she listened to it on tape and she gave me the tape to take home but I couldn't follow the tape so I checked the book out of the library I finished it in two days I couldn't put it down and unfortunately I had to because I had to go to work the next day. This is by far the best Nora Roberts book I have read aside from True Betrayal I love Olivia and Noah's romance and I had no idea who the killer was I suspected several other people and I was utterly shocked when the killer was revealed. When the killer is revealed I started to see how it could of been that person the book gave you several clues I had not noticed before and when I was able to think back it was all right there in my face. This is a excellent whodunit novel because up until the last pages you have no idea. I recommend this as a must read Nora Roberts

This book will make you a fan of her work for life

Summary: Entertaining Mystery
Review: I admit that I usually don't read mysteries, because it's a genre which doesn't appeal to me. "River's End," however, was an intriguing book which had me fairly hooked throughout. (I say "fairly hooked" because a few parts dragged, while others, I thought, were unnecessary to the story.) Roberts' descriptions of the forests of the Northwest are lush and gorgeous, and Noah Brady is the type of hero I dream of - persistent, patient, and determined to win the heart of the woman he loves. Too bad I couldn't root for Olivia; while I understand the reasons she behaved the way she did, she came off as cold and uncaring, and because of that, I disliked her.

If you're looking for a book to while away a boring afternoon, consider "River's End." I'll definitely check out more of Roberts' works, especially her romance novels.

Summary: Intrigue and Suspense
Review: Haunted by her past, Olivia can't quite forget the night her mother was murdered, a night which saw her drug addicted father arrested for the crime.

Sent to live with her grandparents at an early age, so that the publicity surrounding the death of one of Hollywood's golden stars won't affect her.

A writer wants to drag everything up again, to tell the story and Olivia wonders if it will help dispel her demons. She finds herself increasingly drawn to Noah, the writer who wants her story, but danger lurks because the man who killed her mother was not the one who was arrested for it...

An excellent romantic mystery, with enough twists, turns and red-herrings to keep even the most jaded mystery buff happy. Great descriptions and action perfectly balanced.

A great read.
