Rating: Summary: Selection Collection Review: Moore's book goes right on my "Selection Collection" shelf next to THE BETRAYAL OF AMERICA (Vincent Bugliosi) and SUPREME INJUSTICE (Alan M. Dershowitz)...I'm also saving a spot for THE BEST DEMOCRACY MONEY CAN BUY(Greg Palast). These sit next to my framed NYTimes page from protesting law professors dedicated to the rule of law. I suppose some will think Moore's book funny, but even dark humor does not help the pain of a democracy so wounded. My "selection collection" grows with each stake driven through the Bill of Rights by Ashcroft, each professor silenced by ACTA-trained university governance structures, and the inability of so many to see 9-11 in context. Moore's book provides an understanding of the horror forged in Bohemian Grove.
Rating: Summary: Mike Strikes Back! Review: It's about time someone brings the American public back to earth! We've been indoctrinated over the past several months by our government and one-sided media to be in support of our president and government. Michael Moore, in a way only he can pull off, delivers an eye opener to anyone who has forgotten what these "stupid white men" have done in the past and what they're trying to pull over on us now. An entertaining and thoroughly informative read. Those words don't go together too often, but Mike has successfully struck back at the white men in suits who rule this land here in his second book. Pick it up!
Rating: Summary: Classic Moore...a Will Rogers for the 21st century Review: Great book. Like so much of Moore's work he picks an easy target and has a little too much fun making of hay of it. But that's just the point for Moore: in a perfect world there wouldn't be easy targets and Moore would be just a bumbling clown. His own faux-innocence puts the faux-innocence of his subjects in sharp relief. Who would you rather have in the white house: a calculating cynic without power, or one with power? My vote goes to Michael Moore. Even if the style bugs you, the facts are a gold mine. It's worth buying the book just for the endnotes; it's worth reading it for the laughs.
Rating: Summary: Thank you Michael Moore Review: The only folk who will hate (and probably not read) this book are stupid white men (not a gender specific term). Stupid White Men hit the mark, bullseye! If you liked Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations (Al Frankin), you'll like Stupid White Men even more.
Rating: Summary: An Clear look at the state of America Review: He makes shocking statements, but they are all referenced with sources. This is a strikingly honest book. Most people can't handle having the curtain of patriotism withdrawn from their eyes. MM is one of the few who is trying to make this country better.
Rating: Summary: The Truth Hurts, Doesn't It? Review: Fantastic! Somebody finally has the balls to say what we all wish we had the nerve to say. Michael Moore tells it like it is, and the Repubs can't stand the heat, even though Moore beats up a few Dems to boot! (But we all know Repubs can only dish it out, they can't take it)> This book presents the sorry state of our nation and pulls no punches in letting us know who is at fault (including us!) and it should be required reading for anyone who cares about freedom, free speech, the people's will, and the truth.
Rating: Summary: Hurray Michael! Review: Michael Moore has done it again. A brilliant and very well researched book that tells us what the bought and paid for media has not told us. Dubya and Company are masters of The Big Lie and Moore calls them on it. He addresses issues of corrupt leadership in America brilliantly. I strongly recommend that this book be read by everyone.
Rating: Summary: It's About Time the Truth be Told! Review: How refreshing to finally read something that tells the unabashed truth about what is happening in our Country. The conservatives would have you believe that our Media is liberal; HA! What a farce THAT is! If it were liberal, the Clintons would not have been dragged through the mud like they were all those years. In reality, the American Media is CORPORATE-owned and their "truth" only comes from the sources that line their pockets with green stuff. It's time for Americans to start reading between the lines and realize that patriotism is much more than waving Old Glory. It's honoring the many who died for the freedom to wave it. We must guard those freedoms from those who try to take them from us. AND, that means questioning what goes on WITHIN our government as well as outside our borders. Well done, Michael Moore!!
Rating: Summary: Investigative Journalism with Wit Review: Michale Moore has again proven himself a world class investigative journalist. The geezers in power had such a grand time before when King George was president. They all got richer and it seemed that nobody noticed. Now junior is in there and everyone seems to be saying "boys will be boys". A great deal of the information in this book is right from the national press, only hard to find when burried in the third section. Mr. Moore has done a fine job of adding humor so you don't weep when reading the information. Read the book find out for youself. As of yet we live in a free society where even a person like junior can be president, hopefully the sleeping giant will wake up and do something about it.
Rating: Summary: True Review: Mike is right on target (or is he now a target?) It takes a humorist to expose the absolute crisis that our country is in. We can laugh at the mess but it is also with glee that we can and will turn things around. It's a comfort to know that most of these Stupid White Men are also Old Stupid White Men and most of us have a chance to out live them. I expect most criticism of this book will be irrational personal attacks, name calling, ranting and raving and refusing to except facts and reality. Basic big baby temper tantrums are the code of arms of a poor sport. The real Axis of Evil is rot and corruption from within.
