Summary: MOORE IS TREMENDOUS IN EVERY SENSE.
Review: this book is absolutely delicious. moore sticks the knife of satire in very, very deep. his book manages to apply to every relevant level of our divided culture. read this one, then read prozac nation, short of a picnic, and/or cuckoo's nest and see how the corruption trickles down and ultimately strangles the invidividual's mind!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Everyone NEEDS to read this book.
Review: The main theme of this book "AMERICA, WAKE UP". Moore manages to scoop up all the steaming piles of human greed, selfishness, stupidity and immoral behavior and serve them up in a humorous and informative manner. This book will shock some and confirm some beliefs in others but it is not "some liberal rag". Moore takes aim at Democrats as well as Republicans. A very good read indeed.

Summary: Poignantly Funny
Review: In humor is truth, but sometimes humor is nothing but hot air. Michael Moore gives us plenty of both in "Stupid White Men ...and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation!" It really doesn't matter which is which, because either way, Moore has the reader laughing and wondering. Expect your feathers to be ruffled whether you are a Republican or a Democrat.

When he says, "We need Jimmy Carter," to respond to a major crisis, you know he's not entirely serious.

Someplace between Bill Maher and Rush Limbaugh is Michael Moore. Neither of those guys claims to be a Harvard political scholar, and both acknowledge taking a point of view for the sake of entertainment. But you and I both know Limbaugh is particularly right wing, and Maher is unashamedly left wing. Such is Moore, with a keen look at the views from both sides, but has his tongue clearly placed in his cheek. He manages to put both sides in their place.

It is a bit difficult to be sure if he is making Democrats or Republicans look more stupid. It seems, instead, he points more at you and me, and our fascination with the gossip of Washington more than the the content. He goads and taunts the reader in a playful, but accurate way. For example, he calls Bill Clinton one of the best Republican presidents... which party should be more offended?

I fully recommend "Stupid White Men ...and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation!" by Michael Moore.

Summary: Absolutely the truth!
Review: Although this book was written in a Democratic viewpoint, Moore looks at both political parties and shows you exactly who is wrong where-especially the President nobody voted for-George W. Bush. This is one of the most hysterical yet truthful things I have ever read. After reading I felt almost empowered to take back the government that is supposed to be by the people. Stupid White Men have been screwing up this country long enough and nobody wants to do anything about it! Moore creatively shows us how and why we should think twice the next time we vote. Also, anyone who actuaaly takes any politician seriously is crazy because no matter what party they belong to, they are out for themselves and those who support their campaign-that's just the way it goes. Buy this book is all I can tell you. You have to read it! The moment I finished reading I wrote my Senator-it is that empowering. Thank you Michael Moore-I hope your book will open some stubborn white men's eyes.-Just Another White Girl-

Summary: I really wanted to like this book!
Review: But I just can't. I ordered it hoping to get an insightful, humorous, and unbiased take on everything going on yet this book didn't make it. I know very little about Mr. Moore and all this book proved to me was that he is way too liberal for his own good. Or maybe I am wrong. The book came across as just one big rant. He just complains and complains and complains and nothing really gets accomplished. Kinda like the government he is bashing. It was not funny at all in fact I grew very tired trying to finish each chapter. I give him some credit though because he has very good ideas but his delivery is awful. If you want to hear mindless and often unfounded claims of outrageous behavior in this country and the crazy political talk shows on tv don't help ya then grab this book but if you are just a conscious person looking to gain some humorous or just plain insight to the state of things stay away. The hypocrisy in this book is also stunning and thought when you have a liberal or a conservative arguing you can never be truly free of it I understand this but Morre gets so lost in his own rants that I truly think he forgets what it was he started out saying. Another problem with this book which makes it unenjoyable is that after all his complaining and tirades he offers few if any solutions to the problem. It seems like the only way to solve anything is if you are white kill yourself. I have to admit though that I never finished the book. I grew so tired of it all. Maybe because I am not liberal enough or mabe because I am not paranoid or maybe because I just can't agree with him on many points. I am not a conservative and I have never voted for a Republican or a Democrat (I did vote for Moore's beloved Nader). I believe niether party functions for the common man but Moore simply seems to be too Liberal for his own good. He has fallen into the traditional liberal stereotype by complaining complaining complaining and not offering any suggestion for repair other than just give everything to those who have nothing and take it all away from those who have it. So if you really want to read this book I suggest you find it in a library or somewhere you don't have to pay for it (Moore would probably like that because then his big corporate publisher wouldn't get your money). Just like my own review or Moore's book I found that he made very few intelligent points at all. And in response to those ultra-liberals, Robin Hood was truly one of you but what happens when he steals money from the rich and gives it to you? Who does he steal from next?

Summary: Great!
Review: Frank, shameless, honest and right on target--whens' the sequel!?
Highly recommended!...

Summary: You should read the first chapter
Review: The first chapter of this book, about the presidential election, was really disturbing. Any bit in this book about George W. Bush will make you shake your head in disbelief. When I read it I thought to myself, either this Moore guy is lying or he is the bravest man alive. I happened to watch the movie "Roger and Me" before I read this book and believe the latter is true. I think the most powerful part of this book is specific instructions about how the citizens in this country can have a voice in the political world. I wasn't really able to laugh with this book. I was too outraged. The only thing I did find relief in is that there is somebody in this world brave enough to write a book like this, which if it is true (which I believe it is) is the most shocking and devastating look at our political scene to date.

Summary: There's Plenty of Stupidity To Go Around
Review: Washington D.C. is chock-full of stupid people, Democrat and Republican, but Moore plays to the "D" crowd in this failed attempt at political satire and humor. P.J. O'Rourke's "Parliament of Whores", published over a decade ago, is far more instructive and entertaining.

The problem with Moore is that he stretches reality a bit too far, and thereby kills the most effective element of satire -- its underlying truth.

Summary: Please buy this book
Review: I wish Michael Moore would put out a second edition! By reading this book NOW, you get the feeling that Michael knew beforehand some of the things that have happened since its being published. There is a lot you don't know, and you wouldn't easily be able to find this information out elsewhere. I personally recommend this book to EVERYONE I know, and I do know people who have changed political parties, and drastically changed their political stance as a direct result of reading this book. I am so impressed with this book and the author's enthusiasm. It is hard to not be motivated politically after reading it. Please, please read the book. You should have read it months ago!

Summary: Neither Funny Nor Factual
Review: If Michael Moore is what passes for scintillating thought and political analysis on the left, we conservatives are in good shape for the coming elections.

His major issues: (1) white men (in his chapter called "Kill Whitey") are worthy of opprobrium for starting wars, polluting the planet, and laying off workers, to name a few [they also ended slavery, invented a vaccine for polio and created representative Democracy, but who's counting]; (2) Bush stole the election [even though he got more votes than the other guy in every legal recount taken]; and (3) various and assorted leftist urban legends are actually true rather than just the fevered imaginings of hippie pot-heads, e.g., that Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris purged black people from voter rolls so Bush could win. Yeah, right.

The book is more rant than reality, more hot air than humor. I gave it two stars because I figure it will help the GOP win back the Senate -- do you really want Moore's ilk running the country?
