Rating: Summary: A Heaping Helping of Liberalism Review: A heaping helping that made me want to throw up, that is. Michael Moore needs to go to writing school instead of bowling for Columbine in his quest to repeal the 2nd Amendment. This is the best country on the planet and if Michael doesn't like it and its "stupid white men" and their "sorry excuses", then he needs to high tail it out of here to socialist Canada where he and his birds of the same feather can flock together - with no guns, no immigration or border policy, & total chaos.
Rating: Summary: It gets old and tired after the first couple of chapters Review: I really enjoyed Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" and highly recommend the movie. Definitely one of the top five movies of the year. After watching the film, I was interested in reading his book. Unfortunately, it didn't have the same bite and zip as his film. The book is highly anti-Bush/Republican, which is fine, however his theories and thoughts on how to change the American way of life didn't offer any new insights. Most of his suggestions were ludicrous lists that were offered up for a chuckle, which quite frankly weren't even that funny. He does this in nearly every chapter and it loses it's humor. I found myself bored towards the middle of the book, although continued to read it to the end, hoping to read some of his wit that would make the whole book worth it. Oh well, it wasn't strenuous reading and thus eased my curiosity of his writing.
Rating: Summary: Buy it -- before it sells out ! Review: This is a great book. I have to admit it is really scary at times (although usually very funny). The scariest part : George W. Bush's--"pResident" of the worlds most powerful nation--favorite childhood book was "The very hungry catterpillar." I know, you are not too scared about that, but that's because you (probably) don't know that it was published in 1969, a FULL YEAR after George W. graduated from Yale. Now how did we let a functional illiterate run our country ??? Read this book to discover many more interesting/frightening facts...
Rating: Summary: Great gift for a teen!!! Review: This is a great gift for any teenager going through their own personal version of Berkeley in the 60s...or not! I am 15 and I never read books, but I read this and loved it.
Rating: Summary: MUST READ Review: This book is amazing... I just starting reading it and can't put it down.. The book is thought provoking and funny at the same time.. Read this book, and pass it on to your friends... The US needs more people that are educated on what our tax dollars support.. I also highly reccomend his latest movie "Bowling for Columbine"... A must see.
Rating: Summary: So very funny and intelligent! Review: Michael, you've done it again. This book had me in stitches laughing so hard. I learned so many things I didn't know before! The most important lesson being that democrans are just as corrupt as republicrats. Thanks for filling me in! As long as there's big money involved, it seems politics will always be corrupt and not about what the people want. Cheers to you!
Rating: Summary: Not for everyone.... Review: I've been fascinated with Michael Moore since watching "Bolwing For Columbine" a few months ago. This book works the same way as that film; namely that nothing is sacred in revealing the truth about things in this country. Moore even keeps us grounded by jabbing at himself; he is after all a white male, and after reading this book, it's hard not to admit that white men have done some pretty stupid things. What's even more amusing is some people can claim to read this book and still get it wrong. Moore votes Green, not Democratic. Secondly, every fact and figure he quotes is listed in the back for your review. Finally, he is not some Republican basher; he hates "Democrats" just as much because they haven't done anything. Moore is very accessable. If you disagree so much, write him a letter and challenge him. Prove that there's some grey matter in that conservative head of yours and try to debate it. Will you? Doubt it. Keep it up, Mike, you give hope to the rest of us!
Rating: Summary: Need more like it Review: Very timely book. So much of what Moore comments on is just plain common sense. Many of his points are things that over the last 16 months many of us have kept to ourselves. I was fortunate enough to see Moore when he was touring in London doing a two/hour show. Naturally, several of his theories are a cross between serious and insightful commentary and political / sociological parody.
Rating: Summary: Pathetic Review: Being an independent in politics, I add volumes to my library each year, from both the left and right. Moore is just taking pot shots in the dark, and coming up empty. This book is a good one to buy if you plan on having something to sell and lose $ on an online auction.
Rating: Summary: HILARIOUS AND SERIOUS A MUST READING Review: STUPID WHITE MEN is a must reading for anyone who loves the real America and true Americans (but not its corrupt political establishment and greedy corporate elite), in "whose name" the Bush Administration is currently waging a so called "War against terror" which in reality is a war of plunder and theft against 90% of Americans and the have nots of this world whether oil grabbing in Iraq, land grabbing in Palestine, or exploitation of natural resources and cheap labour in Eastern Europe, South America or elsewhere. STUPID WHITE MEN is hilarious beyond belief, honest, well documented, easy and enjoyable to read and addresses many of the fundamental domestic and foreign policy issues confronting the American Public, who is systematically confused and misled by a greedy and self serving Political Establishment and Corporate Media who work for the 10% of richest Americans and whose motto is: IF YOU CAN'T CONVINCE THEM, CONFUSE THEM THROUGH RELENTLESS LIES, DECEIT AND DISTORTION OF REALITY, Hollywood style....
