Summary: Constantly witty, incredibly shocking...
Review: Michael Moore has exposed our nation for what it really is. This book is the ultimate response to those who still think George W. is a good president. Moore gets at all the issues from all the angles, attacking Democrats, Republicans, whites, our supreme court, Florida, and much more. He leaves no stone unturned in this funny, educated read that goes surprisingly fast. Moore does what others cannot: he exposes the state of our nation for what it really is. Let's see Bill O'Reilly do that!

Summary: Honest, hard hitting, and damn funny!
Review: Michael Moore, in his typical unapologetic style, paints a very shockingly vivid picture of the current state of the nation. He details the sordid histories of many political officials, and shows what they?re really all about. Normally this kind of information is hard to swallow, but Moore offers a teaspoon of his special brand of cynical humor with every dose.

This book would make a great addition to the collection of any jaded American looking to learn more about what our great nation lacks. Highly recommended! Fun and informative reading.

Summary: Stupid and annoying
Review: I read this book out of shear curiosity and was disgusted on how someone could criticize a certain race of people just because he do not like them. I warn no one to read this book unless you are racist or retarded.

Summary: Hmm
Review: Well I've just finished Stupid White Men and here's my two cents:

When I began the book I thought it would be fantastic. The first four or five chapters were amazing and carried a really important message. However, as the book went on, the style began to grow a little tired. When Moore applies it to certain issues it is dynamite, but he then takes it up with certain other subjects which it doesn't work with. When Moore tries to translate his obviously encyclopaedeic knowledge on US hypocrisy onto the international world, it grates and sometimes appears downright wrong.

I noticed this particularly on the (short) section on Northern Ireland. Well, I live in the UK, and I know that the majority of what Moore says on this subject is a poor, shallow analysis. If this applies to his reading of the subjects that I know less about, then I don't know whether to trust this book or not. Also, certain facts in the book carry the hallmarks of manipulation.

You may be wondering why, therefore, I've given this book 4 stars. This is because it is a very enjoyable book and early chapters such as 'A Very American Coup', 'Dear George' and 'Kill Whitey' are fantastic. I also liked the Epilogue, which I think may have been on the UK edition only. The book IS funny, and it is valuable in terms of message: a lot of what Moore says is very true and really important. However, you cannot take everything in it as the last word on certain subjects.

Summary: Another Aging Hippy
Review: I think many of the previous reviewers who have found that Mr. Moore is more of a satirist than an author to be taken seriously, have made their points well enough.

He reminds of the typical aging hippy, who as a generation are known for "dropping out" to protest the "Oppressive Establishment", only to grow up to create a society that is more paranoid, more greedy, and more uptight than the one they protested.

You can get the same dribble watching Phil Donahue on MSNBC, and you won't have to expend the effort of actually steading a book while turning pages at the same time. You can merely sit back with the remote, smoke another [cig], and imagine all the conspiracies you want. Like: George W. can see me through the TV !!! (please, that's not true Michael ! isn't it?) ;-)

Summary: So many Feelings and so little logic. That says it all.
Review: I admire what this man is trying to do and where I believe his heart is, but he has swallowed the misguided and dangersous slogans and ideals of the liberal-left hook line and sinker! Sure there are crooked polititians on both sides, but if this country is truly going to stand for another several hundred years as "THE" greatest land of freedom and opportunity in the world, then conservative values, a limited government and effective-high quality education is going to have to once again become the ideal that we as a nation resolve to reach. Self reliance through education and hard work will accomplish that. Ignorance, laziness and any reliance on government aid will keep us where we are now. I don't think stupid white men did it, just the opposite, and worse. Very clever, power hungry, (mostly) white men without conciences did.

Summary: Laugh and cry!
Review: Excellent book! I couldn't put it down! Finally, someone with the brains, the guts, and the commitment to reveal the extent of the deception that's been going on in our country. The chapter about what happened with the elections will make you laugh and cry at the same time. Very funny throughout, thought-provoking and eye-opening, the book will shake you out of any slumber you might have been in and make you question everything, as well as understand not just what happened then and why, but what is happening right now, and what is about to happen. Moore uses wit and humor to lighten what would otherwise be very disturbing facts ( all of which he backs up, see the notes and sources at the end of the book). Some chapters are plain hilarious ( see "the end of men"). And to all of those who bought it that the "state of the economy" was "inevitable", this is a must read!

I find it mildly amusing that some of Moore's critics brand him with words like, "he's just a liberal/leftist", like they were swearwords! Do these critics imply that anyone who speaks of issues like what motivates our politicians, or social injustice have to be...umm...red? Are these issues that no one is allowed to speak about, TABOO? Or, do those critics mean that social injustice does not exist? Which city in America are they living in??! Cold-war-era babble aside, Moore backs up his words and that seems to [tick] a lot of people off, people who want us to believe that everything is OK. Well, this book is food for thought. Moore invites us to participate more, to ask questions, and to make INFORMED DECISIONS, and not to stay in a state of sweet slumber. If that is not the very essence of practising our freedom, then what good is it for? To use as a reason to go to wars in faraway continents? If we can't practise at home what we are supposed to fight for overseas, then don't we need a good look at where we've been taken? Thank Heavens for Moore! The book is not just eye-opening, it is also refreshing and inspiring, a must read for anyone who wants to see why we are where we are and how we can get out of there!

Summary: Thank goodness I didn't pay for this...
Review: My neighbor tossed this book into his recycle bin. I saw it sitting there so thought "what the heck, free is free". What I forgot was that I would nor could ever had the time it took to read this drivel refunded to me. Should I be conscious while I take my last breath of life I can guarantee that the thought that will cross my mind is how I could have had at least one more day of bliss had I not read Mr. Moore's garbage.

However, not all is lost. At least the ignorant and maniacal left have something to keep them busy.

Summary: Right-Wing Conspiracies - Book Reviews
Review: Can't say enough good things about Moore or this book. Check out the reviews, if only for this fact (which I copied from MichaelMoore.com):

"Oh, one other thing -- the right wing nuts have put out a call to arms on their web sites to jam the Amazon.com site with bad reviews of the book (which they haven't read) to try to bring its ranking down. The reviews are hilarious, and it's great to see them going insane because a book from our side of the political fence has gone to the top. I mean, it has them unglued!"

What could make the "Far Right and Very Wrong" so scared?? Pathetic, to rely on deceit to undermine an opposite viewpoint. For more tales of pathetic deceit, check out this most excellent book. If you still hate it, fine. At least read the thing.

Summary: Moore is a cowardly self hating leftist ...-wipe!
Review: This gutless ... is so far out in left field, even Ralph Nader fired him. Moore loves to take pot shots at the establishment and then run for cover when the critics engage him. There are many who have totally different political views than I do, who deserve respect because they have the spine to stand up for what they believe. As soon as you shine the light on Moore, he runs for cover just like a cockroach. He refuses to appear on any show that will disagree with his views.

His totally disrespectful portrayal of the 9-11 plane crash victims, was beyond bad taste.

I also find it intersting that if Moore were a citizen of one of these oppressive dictatorships, (whom he never critisizes), and he were to published or even speak like this, he would be executed. Here in the oppressive U.S. full of "stupid white men" he becomes wealthy off the same rhetoric. Perhaps he should rename the book "Stupid Hypocritical Leftists."

It is the easiest thing in the world to be a critic.
