Summary: A must read in addition to seeing Bowling for Columbine
Review: Michael Moore is an amazing guy. In this book he walks on ground that no one else dares to touch. I recently read it for the second time after seeing the film Bowling for Columbine in my local theatre, and just am amazed at how accurate he portrays our country. You have to have a lot of guts to do a lot of the things he does, and talk to a lot of the people he does. I sincerely hope people take what he has to say to heart, because as you look at the current state of the nation, his suggestions (although sometimes tounge-and-cheek) most likely would work.

Summary: The Best Kind Of American
Review: Funny, patriotic, irreverent, annoys all the right people. Michael Moore is God's scruffy, loud son. More man than Rush Limbaugh is or Ann Coulter can ever hope to be...

Summary: No Moore Drivel , Please !
Review: I was really looking forward to reading this book , thanks to the rave reviews that it has received . But what a disappointment it turned out to be . This was far from being the witty , intelligent satire on corporate America that I was expecting . In fact , it was incredibly tiresome and slightly patronising reading 250 pages of Michael Moore's almost juvenile rants and raves about all the wrongs in the world , and his deeply flawed solutions to these problems .

Michael seems to live in his own little world where every problem is black and white ( no irony intended ) with absolutely no gray areas , which is rather convenient for a person looking to solve complex problems with simple solutions devoid of any detrimental consequences . He also manipulates facts and figures in exactly the same way as the allegedly corrupt politicians and businessmen that he targets in this book do . Now if his tongue was firmly in cheek I'd have no qualms about these shortcomings at all , but , considering he's got a serious agenda in promoting his political views to all and sundry I find this deeply hypocritical , and an insult to most readers intelligence .

There is always a place for the investigative journalists of this world , as we really do need people to dig the dirt and inform the public on what scandals are going on , but substance , subtlety , and real truth is a far more powerful weapon than sweeping generalisations and crass solutions will ever be !

Summary: Thank You Michael!
Review: Finally a book written for the rest of us about the 2000 Presidential Election and other affairs. Michael is a great author who uses humor and common sense to make light of how messed up this country is. Michael doesn't hate America and for all who say he does needs to read this book. It's about time someone stood up to our government and showed us their B.S.

Summary: Michael Moore Blaims America
Review: Michael Moore discusses the low number of gun deaths in China compared to the United States. He champions the utopian health care system of Canada. And he pontificates on why the French dislike us. Moore's conclusion? We need to be more like China, Canada, and France. I don't want the United States to become a socialist government that feeds on high taxes and limits the freedoms of its citizens. If the United States became Moore's ideal, we would no longer remain the United States as the core tenants of liberty and democracy would be essentially eroded.

Summary: Michael Moore is swayed by emotionalism
Review: Michael Moore as usual fills his material with emotionalism and "feel good" material, igoring facts and truths.

Sometimes the truth hurts, and facts are just facts no matter how they make you feel.

You time would be better spent watching day-time TV like the "Lifetime" channel for "feel good" material, and save your reading time for more worthy material.

Summary: Save your money
Review: Fortunately for Mikey, racism against white people is politically correct. He is inflammatory without being humorous or thought provoking. If you are politically conservative or moderate, forget this book. If you are more liberal, you can do much better elsewhere. ...

Summary: Funny and fascinating
Review: Rib-ticklingly funny in his droll understated way, Michael Moore is also a thorn in the side of the American establishment, exposing the ludicrousness of taking vested interests seriously.

Summary: Intelligent and Insightful...A Must Read
Review: Moore's critical views of current government practice and policy are presented for your information and reading pleasure. It is rare that a book so packed with information can also be laugh-out-loud funny. And this is just one reason why I appreciate this book. Moore shares his opinions, but he then backs up what he says with information and with sharp analogies. This is pure politics for the people, which is what I believe Moore advocates with this and with his other work in film and television. Some of his arguments get tiresome at the end, and he comes off as a cranky old man. But, the insights he makes make the read worthwhile.

You may not agree with all of Moore's views, but I'll bet that after reading Stupid White Men, you'll at least look at the media and American politics a little more critically.

Summary: Pure Greatness
Review: Michael Moore is one of the funniest men I've ever read. His books are so good you have to laugh until you realize that what he's saying is the truth. This book really examines the state of the government with our "theif in chief" Bush in office. His letter to the "President" is one of the funniest parts of the book. I recomend this to everyone who has any slight intrest in the government so they can see what's really going on.
