Summary: Entertaining, but thats about it.
Review: Ok, this guy makes some good points, but he only looks at one side of things, if you WANT to look the the other side, you can find just as many disturbing facts (want being the key word, it is always easier to overlook your own flaws than realize them). With that said this was a very entertaining book, worth buying even if you disagree with with the author's viewpoints.

Summary: Whatever you think of his cause, Moore is a poor writer
Review: I understand that this book is a bestseller: many people agree with Moore's vision of the current American political system and Bush administration (I happen to disagree, but that's beside the point; because I am judging only the quality of writing here, not his political views). However, objectively you just cannot get away from the fact that Moore is no good writer: the style is repetitive, and he appears to be jumping from one subject to another.

The book leaves an impression of incoherent ramblings and its success owes more to the ideological convictions of the author than to solid research and readability. While some thoughts appear to have certain mileage in them (well, at least they could provide a solid topic for a debate), others are just laughaable (such as the suggestion that the Cold War would never happen in only the Americans were to listen to Russian "peace initiatives").

You can see how Moore is trying on some humor and attempts to imitate writers like Bill Bryson in his social analysis - but with little success. He just cannot pull it off, because he has no talent for that. Most of the jokes reek of a college newsletter - they are just so amateurish. Sorry Moore, but deep convictions are no substitute for writing skill.

Summary: Racist and Narrow-Minded
Review: This work is obviously not intended to be serious. It's meant to be a comedic harangue at George W. Bush and the Republican Party.
I admit, it got a few chuckles out of me - but not many. It mostly just borders on outright inane and lame.
There's nothing really new in here, he just calls Bush a stupid drug addict throughout the whole book. This also crosses the line into racism. Moore makes a ton of sweeping, negative generalizations about white people which are quite offensive.
If you are liberal, you may like this. If you are moderate or conservative, you'll probably just be annoyed by it. Whether or not you enjoy this will depend entirely on your political ideology.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: A waste of time
Review: I consider myself a moderate and this book was a total waste of time. It is such a hateful, anti-American book that I'm suprised that any so called American could produce such drivel. Don't read this...

Summary: MOORE'S SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO BE A LESS STUPID WHITE GUY
Review: Believe it or not, There's a lot of non political stuff in this book too. You wouldn't know it from all the hooplah, but there are some helpful hints for all of us that seem to have gone missing from most discussions.

Since the political content has been pretty well hashed over, I'm going to take a look at some of the less controversial content.

Moore makes some pretty good suggestions for the kind of behavioral changes that could help all of us live longer. To wit:

He reminds us that a car is not a weapon of mass destruction. You don't have to use it as one when some guy in a dunce cap cuts you off in traffic. Ignore him and you'll feel a lot less stressed, and you'll probably live longer even if he doesn't.

Eat and drink less and you'll probably add a few years to your life.

Listen more and talk less. You'll be amazed how your social life will improve.

Get involved in your community by doing such things as going to school board meetings and participating. Or, how about umpiring a little league game. You can make a difference at the community level (and have a good time doing it).

If you don't have one, get a basic education and use your newfound literacy to (among other things) read a variety of news sources. You'd be amazed how different things may seem if you get your information from sources more in-depth than the usual 30 second TV news clip. Also, you could use this basic education to learn more about the history of our world, and about the cultural diversity of the people in it.

Yep, all these suggestions and a whole lot more are in STUPID WHITE MEN . . . . Go for it.

Summary: Comment-Ci, Comment-Ca
Review: Complete ignorance and elitism... a deadly combination is Micheal Moore's book. One could compare his hatred of Republicans to that of Nazi Germany: Micheal Moores loves to blame Republicans for all the world's troubles. I agree that if Micheal Moore truly didn't like captialism as much, why does he live in America? Sheer hypocrisy fills the pages of Micheal Moore's book.

Nevertheless, the sheer wit and hiliarity of some of his claims are quite amusing...

Yet, I still wonder... Big, Fat, White, Rich? Sound like someone we know? hmmm... also, where was Bill Clinton?

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Wonderful!!
Review: Wonderfully full of ignorance at its finest. Typical views from an anti-American who takes things at face value, and refuses to look further into matters, before drawing a conclusion. I wouldn't expect anything more from someone as small minded and uneducated on politics then Michael Moore. But if you choose, join him in hating America and our troop's purpose at home and abroad, since they defend, with their life, your right to hate them. Also, take time to tell a fallen soldier's mother and father, brother or sister, wife or husband, or son or daughter that their family member did not have a cause and died in vain. I'm sure it will make you feel better. OR go to the library, educate yourself, and find out what a fool this guy really is.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Truth Hurts
Review: This is a great book. Michael Moore has a wonderful sense of humor. But what is disturbing are the venomous attacks this writer has received from narrow minded critics.

Laughter is a healthy way to deal with pain. It's too bad Moore's critics have lost their sense of humor.

If you like this book, and you like to laugh at social issues, I also recommend John Orozco's Delano and Lenny Castellaneta's No One's Even Bleeding.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Just Not Entertaining
Review: A very poor book. If you want left wing humor, read Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot. Mr Moore falls short.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Now More Than Ever!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Stupid White Men"--couldn't put it down. Though I didn't do a background check, Moore's facts and conclusions (sadly) appear to be too true. Michael Moore is not one of those uninformed liberals who scorns all things conservative and blindly agrees with any liberal view; while he totally disses Republicans, he is equally hard on Democrats. Such critical thinking is rare these days.

This book is especially useful to people who feel uneasy about the state of the nation but are not sure why, but I would recommend it to anyone--yes, any reader at all. Nearly every single reviewer has given it either the maximum or minimum rating, suggesting that Moore's words hold some important polarizing weight. Though I question some of Moore's views and suggestions (everybody's different), the fact that he is able to state them so openly and passionately (and with humor!) is an admirable show of patriotism.

And his Oscars speech has nothing to do with it.
