Summary: Autobiography?
Review: After reading this book, I'm suprised that Moore didn't save the title "Stupid White Men" for his autobiography. The book simply complains about everything, while offering no solutions to any of the presented problems, and only attempts to [fool] the reader into believing that the U.S. is the worst country in the world, inhabitated by the worst people in the world. Worse, his writing skills are ficticious at best.

Summary: What democracy is all about.
Review: Just a great book, not just for what it articulates, but also for the kind of discussion it provokes.

For all of those who say that it is unpatriotic to question your nations leader or voice your opinion publicly, the most unpatriotic thing you can do is to deny any individual the right to express their beliefs. Censorship, whatever form it takes, is the enemy of democracy.

I suppose the most baffling thing about the 2000 Presidential Election was that it was decided in a courtroom. No matter how long it takes, shouldn't all votes be counted until you are 100% sure the result is correct?

Anyway, well done to Michael Moore for a very entertaining and judging from the sales figures, a very widely read book.

Summary: It's Good to be an American!
Review: Michael Moore's book has reminded me once again how good it is to be an American. He has reminded me of the oppression that exists in China, the chocking taxes of Canada, and the lack of moral courage in France. I thank him for his confiction to stand up and call these countries for what they are -- a threat to human rights.

I have never been more proud to be an American. When I see the resovle of the United States to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves my heart swells.

Thank you Michael Moore.

Summary: Very Smart White People
Review: It's such a great change of pace to discover "smart" white men such as Mr. Moore. This book really opened my eyes and taught me a few things about what's going on in the world right now. I would have liked it much better if the author could have related the topics and issues more directly to me and my own life, and illustrated how I could have improved my life and existence somehow as a result of reading this book. Clint Arthur is a "Very Smart White Man" who does just that in his sexy and instructional memoire "9 Free Secrets of New Sensual Power," which I wholeheartedly advise everyone to investigate if they really want an enjoyable read that not only entertains but also Educates! There's also a very smart "White Woman" whose entertaining book "Wisdom Daddy Taught Me" also serves up a healthy plateful of knowledge and material to improve the reader's life in addition to being extremely fun to read. Take note Mr. Moore, so next time you'll come off even smarter!

Summary: The Work Of A Great American
Review: As a Floridian, I don't think Michael Moore is right, I *know* he is right. He completely exposed Kathine Harris and her criminal actions that led to the 2000 election debacle. Michael Moore doesn't have to write well to be right on.

For those of you who think Michael Moore is anti-American, you couldn't be more wrong. I have followed his work for several years, and this man is absolutely driven by his love of this country, and of humanity. He has tried to stop our young men and women from dying. These so-called pro-war "patriots" are ready to send our people to die, not for Freedom, but for greed and Bush cronyism. (Just watch the post-war pig slopping, and you'll know I'm right.) George W. Bush spits on the Constitution for fun and money, and somebody has to say it.

And, as Moore points out every chance he gets, there's plenty of blame to go around for the Democrats!

Summary: Stupid White Men
Review: You would have to be very desperate to sit and read this book, willingly. I found watching ice melt off the trees more interesting. I do enjoy light hearted reading, unfortunately this is light headed. You don't have to be a republican to dislike this book even I had a hard time with it. One of my "Stupid White Men" friends thought I would like it. The only part I liked about it was it was given to me so I don't feel bad about tossing it. I just might keep it in case someone irritates me, I'll give it to them.

Summary: A catchy title, one good chapter, and that's it
Review: I'm amazed that this book became a best-seller -- it must have been the catchy title.
The book swings back and forth between political commentary (containing many factual errors) to inconsistency and silliness. Moore can't even keep the definition of his central term straight: does "white" mean those who share a skin pigment, as when Moore writes, "every time I see a white guy walking toward me, I tense up," or does "white" mean "conservative attitude," as when he claims that the "Stupid White Virus ... has even infected ringers like Colin Powell [and] ... Condoleeza Rice," concluding at the end of the book that the Democratic party is as bad as the Republican, and so we should vote for independents like Ralph Nader and Jesse Ventura?
The only positive thing about this book is that Chapter One contains a good analysis of exactly how Florida stole the votes of thousands of African American and other Democratic-leaning voters. One decent chapter, though, is the equivalent of a magazine article, and does not justify buying this book.

Summary: An unfortunate attack on men in general!
Review: At first, I was drawn to this book because of the outright audacity of the title. Its offensive! Im still left wondering whether it would have been published if the title, instead of Stupid White Men, was something like Stupid Black Women. Or Stupid Yellow Men! I mean, can you imagine the outcry!!! Granted Michaels gripes with Bush etc seem well researched and legitimate. I applaud the first few chapters, they were outstanding and powerfully written. And comical at points. However, I was disappointed about the chapter on men in general, titled The End of Men. Michael seems to think that ALL white men are oppressors and the world would be better without any men at all. He highlights the plight of women and the disadvantages they face in life and have historically faced (which is admirable) yet totally ignores the ways in which men are (and have always been) discriminated against too. He mentions the fact that a mans life expectancy is substantially shorter than a womans, but laughs about the fact - of course, its OUR fault we die younger. According to Michael its the way men eat. What about the fact that men are generally the ones who take on the burden of being the breadwinner. That the workplace isnt always a pleasant place. He forgets that most men are NOT in a position of power like Bush - most of us are bossed around at work, and a great deal of us are definitely not the boss at home either. Moreover, by law, isnt it ONLY men who can be conscripted and forced against their will (or face prison) to fight during war time? Isnt all the unglamorous, dangerous work in the world primarily done by men? Garbage collectors, builders, fire fighters etc. Why has Michael dismissed the everyday man like this??!! How about some appreciation for what men do contribute to the world next time Michael! And Michael, how can women be the oppressed sex when they have 51% of the vote in America. Me thinks you got carried away, generalised about, and blamed all white men WAY TOO MUCH in this book.

Summary: Laughable - just like some of the reviews written here.
Review: Michael Moore's hatred of the United States is so palpable in this book that it is difficult to read. He just can't get past his debilitating anger long enough to make a single lucid point.
