Rating: Summary: Don't waste your brain cells on this garbage Review: More garbage from Moore. This miscreant is at it again in his latest book. Unless you're a hard core left wing radical this book will be appalling to you. Moore needs to find another line of work. It's about as dishonest as his work in bowling for columbine. Moore has a knack for slanting the facts and deceiving the reader/viewer.
Rating: Summary: An oasis of liberal thought Review: There are alarmingly few bastions of liberal thought left in America, and fewer Americans courageous enough to speak out and run the risk of being labelled un-American. Moore's book is what America is all about. He is a blue-collar liberal who has the guts to take unpopular stands. And he has a sense of humor! Try also Bill Lee's liberal (and hilarious) baseball treatise, The Little Red (Sox) Book.
Rating: Summary: This is the 10th copy I have purchased Review: I have bought this book for a few of my co-workers, friends, and family. Even people that either didn't like Michael or didn't know who he was are now buying his books and movies on their own. I appreciate his uncompromising, refusing to conform, even a little, attitude. I love that people hate him for that, that means he's doing something right! I will continue to buy more copies for whomever wants them.
Rating: Summary: A fun read Review: First of all this is not a current event book as much as it is a satire. Read it and enjoy it while still laughing. Moore provides an interesting look. The best part is that he doesnt sit around protecting the democrats, but criticizes them as well as Bush. The funniest part is 'A day in the Life of President Bush. The bad parts are for example his criticism of democrats. When he states that such and such has a 50% voting with Republicans we dont really know what they vote with the Republicans on. Still a fun, informative read.
Rating: Summary: Hard-core liberal says: avoid this book! Review: First off, let me say that reading this book was one of the most intensely gratifying experiences I've had. Reading Micheal Moore's rants against prejudice, large corporations, and the Bush family was deliciously sweet. Unfortunately, the entertainment value of this book is the only saving grace which kept me from giving it 1 star.If you read the reviews for this book, and Ann Coulter's book "Slander", you will find that they are rather similar. Liberal reviewers say that everyone should read Moore's book, and that if conservatives can't take the bitter truth, it's because they can't face the facts. Just flip the words "liberal" and "conservative", and you've got the reviews for Coulter's book. There is a reason for this: Moore is guilty of utilizing the exact same tactics that we liberals bash Coulter for using. Coulter's book is, IMHO, awash with hate-filled invective and false statistics. There is no question that Moore spews some rather hateful insults at conservatives in this book. Liberal-minded people are likely to forgive Moore for this because, after all, we agree with him! What is absolutely inexcusable, however, is how Moore deliberately bends the truth. You heard me right: Micheal Moore is a big fat liar. In this book, Moore claims that "two-thirds of [the over $190 million President Bush raised during the presidential campaign] came from just over seven hundred individuals." This is blatantly false, and also illegal, considering that there is a $2000 limit on individual contributions. He also states that "We're number one in budget deficit (as a percentage of GDP)." Actually, we had a budget surplus that year, and the previous two. These are just two examples; there are MANY more. Moore has a habit of simply making up statistics to suit his politics: he did the same in his documentary "Bowling for Columbine". It's people like Micheal Moore who open liberals up for legitimate attack from conservatives. As long as we continue to let Moore be our spokesman, we are absolutely no better than they are. We need people of integrity like Ralph Nader to lead us in the fight against prejudice, large corporations, and the Bush family. So, take it from a hard-core liberal: avoid this book. Boycott everything that has Micheal Moore's name attached to it. If we aren't throwing money at him, then he'll stop talking.
Rating: Summary: Half truths and a racist title Review: It is a testament to the leftist bias in our media that Mike got away with this title. Imagine the furor that a book entitled "Stupid Black Men" would have caused. As far as content, this rag is filled with half-truths, extememely selective reporting and bad jokes. Ex. Mike lists all the "bad" things white men have done through history, like starting wars and killing Indians, but conveniently forgets to mentions their accomplishements, like penicillin, electricity, the US Constitution, and air conditioning. He also repeats the old lie that Al Gore won more of the popular vote, when in fact no one really knows who truly won. Ex. over a million votes remain uncounted in California alone, enough to possibly turn the tide in Bush's favor. Funny how he never mentions this. Also, he wails and moans about the plight of the disadvantaged, yet never does he propose any ways to help these people, other than the ol' "steal money from the achievers and toss it at the poor" solution that has never worked. All in all, this book is worth reading if you want to see just how miserable and out of touch the average liberal is. But as an accurate or serious look at how to solve the real problems in this nation, it fails miserably.
Rating: Summary: Wake Up Review: I have actually only read a few pages of this book because it sickened me so much. Micheal may think that poor Mr. Al Gore or Alberto, as he likes to refer to him, was robbed of his "rightful" spot. But the truth of the matter is that the right man IS in the oval office. If Mr. Moore had done a thorough research he would of seen how many thousands of men and woman who serve our AMERICAN Country were unable to vote because they never recieved a ballot. And who was in charge of getting them those ballots?? Mr. Moore's wonderful poor misunderstood Al Gore. He was responsible for getting those men and woman there ballots and failed to do so. And you think he can run my Country! I trembled at the thought of what kind of trouble we would of been in if he had got into office. He is not for the AMERICAN people or the AMERICAN way of life. I thank God everyday for the fact that Mr. George W. Bush is our president and not Al Gore. Because all Al Gore wanted to do was take away our freedom.
Rating: Summary: Fiction not facts Review: To quote Roger Moore "I always assume that only 10 to 20 percent of people who read my books or see my films will take the facts and hard-core analysis and do something with it." I hope if you choose to read this book you will be one of the ones who checks the facts and not one of the people he dupes. There is alot of fiction and distortion and spin in this book as there is in most everything Moore does. He does not find the fiction in his works a problem though. To quote him again "How can there be inaccuracy in comedy?"
Rating: Summary: Couldn't have said it better myself Review: In the mythology of Probability Theory, occasionally posited is the calculation of how long it would take for seven monkeys banging on seven typewriters to produce any one of Shakespeare's works. Results vary dramatically, though most agree that the period would be longer than the lifetime of a closed Universe. How long it would take for a gaggle of monkeys to knock out a Michael Moore manuscript, however, is beyond disagreement. It's twenty minutes.
Rating: Summary: Daringly educational - READ THIS BOOK Review: WOW, thats the only word i can describe of Michael moore, who dared to use the freedom of speech and speak his mind out. It was not just speaking about the stupidity of the ruling party or the white men of this world, there was also a lot of research that has been put into the whole book. A huge amount of referances and research has been done to bring the truth into this book. Of course i am indian, but had kept a keen eye on the US election. Did not ever think a nation like that could have so much corruptions during elections and even after that. ...
