Summary: this book should be required reading for all high school kid
Review: Oh how I wish there were 10 stars available to give this book.
There is nothing like the chapter called "whitey".
I have been raised to fear the black man. I mean shouldn't I be since our prisons are full of them. But, like Michael Moore, I can honestly say that every single injustice or bad thing that has happened to me has been at the hands of a white person.
It was a white person who ran a stop sign and turned my life into a living hell. I will never recover from that accident. It was a white boss, who thought that I should sleep with him to keep my job. It was a White guy who cheated on me. No, correct that, it was a bunch of white men who cheated on me (in separate incidents of course). We don't see serial killers who are African americans, no they are all white. We don't see African American kids going into schools and blowing their classmates away, we don't see black CEO's stealing the company profits while filing bankruptcy. I had never realized that African Americans have NEVER done anything to me but "whitey" has screwed me over time and time again.
I loved the whole book, but this chapter really opened my eyes. It's like Oprah says "a lightbulb went on".

I also loved his chapter on the stealing of the White House by our Thief in Chief. "W" has done more damage to this country in 3 short years than any single human being. Gosh, he's a white guy. What should I expect?

Summary: Iffy in spots but enjoyable nonetheless
Review: "Bowling For Columbine" was great, as was "Downsize This!" "Stupid White Men" has a lot of the same qualities as his previous works- rants about populism, against dirty corporations (not all corporations are hell-spawned and evil, and I think Mike knows this), and for a more inclusive American political discourse. I happen to agree with him on most things, but some things I must take issue with.

I didn't like his chapter "The End Of Men" (of course, I am a man, so maybe I'm biased) because he seemed to generalize about us a bit too much (I'm certainly not what he thinks all men are). His treatment of former President Clinton is a bit silly (he's "one of the best Republican presidents we've ever had"). In his book "Downsize This!" I could tell he was a bit disappointed in Clinton, but I get the feeling that in SWM he's just trying to cover his own rear for supporting Nader. Democrats shouldn't blame Nader for Gore's 2000 defeat, he says. "Nader represents who they used to be but no longer are. He never changed...lost the faith...compromised...[or] gave up (pg. 212)"

There might be some truth in that (but I think there's a more arrogant side to Greens/Nader than he sees or is willing to admit), but that still doesn't explain why we [Democrats/Gore supporters] should forgive and forget. The issue is not "why are Democrats whining about Nader when Gore couldn't even win his home state?" It is "did Ralph Nader honestly think that Gore would be just as bad a president as he thought Bush would be?"

I'm not a knee-jerk Democrat. I'm an idealistic liberal, much the same as Moore. But I do believe that a Gore presidency would have been a good thing, especially as opposed to the Bush presidency. And I have heard no good reasons from Greens to explain why Nader did this country a service by staying in the race and making it easier for Bush to win election. I'd like to have a multiple-party makeup of our government, too, but Nader and the Greens seem to have all idealism and no practicality. Although he obviously has very strong feelings on the issue, Moore doesn't do anything to alter my opinion of it.

That being said, "Stupid White Men" is still eye-opening, informative, and uproariously hilarious. He's at his best when he's not going on and on about corporate crooks or pollution (not that I don't agree with him on those issues, though). Definitely a good read for those of like mind, and conservatives who read it will have to go on the defensive.

Summary: Puts the blame where it belongs!
Review: This was a refreshing look at the REAL enemies of this country - the greedy, racist, paranoid hypocrites playing fast and loose with the public purse. Funny, at the same time, as this is Moore, after all.

Summary: He got you talking didn't he?
Review: The point of this book was to get people talking and actually thinking about how our government isn't as pretty and fair as we all make it out to be. He gets us thinking, even if he isn't putting all points of views into the book (which hello it is HIS book, he can put whatever he wants in it), he got you saying "Hey I don't agree with this," and getting you to find out what truth you seek.
As for our Government...how can I be patrotical(sp?) when my own President(in Theif) is wanting to destroy our world, and our way of living?

Summary: stupid white men review
Review: This book made me angry. It pointed out some of the hypocracies present in our governmental system, and addressed questions and concerns that I have had for quite a while about the American state of affirs. The best part of Moore's work however(aside from the humourous and satirical tone he uses to make complex subjects and concerns easily accessible) is that he does not justr point out problems, he tells readers what they can do to help solve them. He includes information on how to contact local politicians and stresses the importance of civillian involvement in a system that many people have serious issues with. While his extreem liberal bias must be considered when evaluating his claims, he does a good job in sticking to claims substantiated by numbers and facts instead of political prejudices. A good read for anyone who wants another view on American politics

Summary: A funny and lightweight read.
Review: Another good book from Michael Moore. Stupid White Men is a humorous book throughout which Michael Moore gives his own account of modern day America. Only problem I had with this book is that Michael Moore whines a lot, but that's counteracted by the funiness of the book. As I'm Irish I haven't heard the other side of the argument so I was a little hesitant in places to beleive everything Moore says. What annoyed me quite a lot was Michael Moore's ignorant and biased few pages on Israel which I did not like and also the Northern Ireland peace plan is a joke which is more stupid than funny.
On the positive side of things Michael Moore is funny throughout and in spots he's abosoutely hillarious so , its a good laugh to take away for by the pool. To give a final verdict, definately go for it, its a funny read - snags aside and you won't be sorry you bought it.

Summary: AWFUL AWFUL READ
Review: Michael Moore sounds like an angry man pointing fingers at everyone and encouraging people to blame others for their problems. I started reading this book with an open mind, hoping to learn something from him. But the more pages I read, the more I feel alienated by the author. He is constantly angry, blaming and blaming and blaming other people for today's problems. He sounds like that girl who sued McDonalds for making her physically fat. ... I do not recommend this book at all.

Review: Poor research. Writing to make his points not from facts. Shame on you Michael Moore.

Summary: An Autobiography
Review: Upon my first encounter with this tome, I truly believed that Mr. Moore, large ego in tact, had finally written an autobiography but it seems I was wrong. Like so many others i.e. Mr. Franken, Mr. Moore seems incapable of finding positive things to say about the United States, it's history or it's leaders. But Mr. Moore lives happily in his home protected by the sons and daughters of average Americans who have stepped up to the plate to protect even the scum among us from those that Mr. Moore would ally himself with.

I do hope that people will read this book so that they truly understand that our country is facing a very real threat. From abroad yes, but also from folks like Mr. Moore and Mr. Franken, Striesand, Hillary, and the list goes on and on. Their socialist vision for America had infected every institution in the country from schools to some libraries, and to government in general. If you value your freedom this should be a wake up call to any citizen who wants to live free. When you finish reading this piece of garbage I urge you to go back and read the founders and compare what they have written to the works of those like Mr. Moore and make a decision. It will be very clear to you where we need to go.

The wonderful thing we have here in America is that we get to make choices. Even though those on the Left would like to do away with that they haven't won yet. This book is a tacky and poorly written revision of history which never happened. Mr. Moore's transparency is obvious. His agenda has failed in the Soviet Union, in the Third World, and now he plans to make us the latest failed experiment. Impotency obviously affects more than one organ. Mr. Moore needs viagra for the brain.

Summary: A Useful Review
Review: Wow! Just marinate for three hours in a mixture of chicken stock and garlic, stuff in a young broiler, and roast for 90 minutes at 350 degrees. You won't regret it!
