Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: free speech Review: This is an insightful, intelligent and important book that every American should read. I'm not amazed at how quickly the right wing has moved to stop this book. In it are important and still funny insights into the political and social culture of this country. Michael marches on in the spirit of Woody Guthrie and Studs Terkle. He's a populist in an age where CEOs like Mr. Lay have purchased our government. Moore is more accessible than Noam Chomsky, but still delivers important insight. He is perhaps one of the most important figures working in media today. I'm not one given to grand statements but I noticed that some people said Moore was un-American - which should seem ridiculous to anybody still capable of thinking for himself or herself. I would counter that the term "un-American" is more fascist than insightful, how dare they even use that term? The very use of it is contrary to what this nation stands for. Moore's books, his films and TV shows are American to the core. Moore's work is essential for anybody who feels that power and wealth are in too few hands, and that something needs to be done about it before it is too late. I would say this is a must read for all of us, whether we agree with him or not ' ideas are so scarce these days.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Patriot and a Prophet Review: Once again, videographer and social critic Michael Moore reminds us that the duty of a citizen in a democracy is to take responsibility for what our country does and where our tax money goes. Moore is a post-modern comedian prophet, with all the critical insight, the compassion and the courage to turn the status quo on its head, defy the elites, and remind his fellow citizens in the wake of September 11, that we must not become the evil we deplore. His chapter on Israeli apartheid calls all parties involved to a sensible and just solution and his suggestion that Palestinians use non-violent resistance to create a homeland comes from the heart of our most precious freedom tradition. Although using biting sarcasm and self-deprecating humor to make a poliical case, Moore's work is at heart a comprehensive textbook for non-violent activism to create peace and justice in the world, and to respect the human person and the environment--core ideals of the Catholic social teaching that was part of Moore's Vatican II era childhood training.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Michael Moore in 2004 Review: I was amazed when Michael Moore went to the trouble only matched by Odysseus to meet GM's big man, and I have followed his work ever since. Moore has a unique satirical writing style and the biting wit of Jonathan Swift. Even if you don't agree with his views on Bush's alleged illiteracy, you can't help but laugh at his views on how male births are declining because mother nature has caught on to the evil ways of men. A great book and a truly great American. I'm glad this one wasn't pulped and turned into toilet paper.

Only 3 days on the shelves and already a #1 hit, hmmmm....looks like there's more than one American who can see through the facade put up by Bush and his cronies. Keep 'em coming Mike!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A giant horse-pill of common sense Review: Do you love your country? Do you want to feel proud of your country? Are you tired of trying to reconcile America's ideals with the despicable things people in power do? Read this book. Michael Moore -- America's conscience (the one with a sense of humor) -- has done it again. The book is packed with hilarious (and infuriating) information about just what's going wrong in the good ol' USA -- and thoughts on how to fix it. Superb.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Do not read this book if you do not want to learn the truth Review: Finally, someone with enough guts to tell the people of the United States how things really work in politics. Money and power are the only thing that seem to matter, and the working people of this country continue to get marginalized while the rich elite reap all the profits. This book is the information that the corporate driven media refuse to tell you, or don't pursue. Think Enron was a surprise? The real surprise is that some people know about the political relationships years before it became front page news. The only down side is that you're left wondering if we can change the current state of the political mess we find ourselves in.

Kenneth Lay & why being Black & voting in Florida is a decidedly Zen experience. This one's packed with information (and back-up), similar to "Downsize This", but not as funny. Make sure your favorite teddy bear, puppy, squeeze or not-so-stupid White Man is available for moral support, and then go run for office once you've recovered. ...
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Mike does it again Review: Michael Moore has brillantly captured the problems and egos of our current politicians and governing corporations. From witty criticisms to stark statistics, he clearly demonstrations the need for all citizens to stand up and take a stand on the direction that our nation is heading. Take care of our communities and schools before Enron and their like will take advantage of us all.
