Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The real State of the nation. Review: This is one of the most greatest books ever written. Michael Moore says the "truth and nothing but the truth" and is not scared one bit to what he writes. He gives you the most informative information about the latest issues and about important events that occur in our country. Also many things that know one knows about. After finishing this book you will be shocked to hear things that you just don't hear on the news. And what is going on with this country. The author gives you really helpful advice and has a since of humor which makes the book even more entertaining to read. This book is really really good and I recommend it to anybody you will like it a lot.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Save your money!! Review: Instead of calling this book "Stupid White Men", Michael Moore should have penned it as an autobiography and titled it "Stupid White Man"...
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Check his facts, they're right on... Review: Disagree with his manner if you like, but he tells the truth. A must read for all in the "mushy middle" of American politics to show them what's really going on in both a light hearted yet very serious manner.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Not Worth the $$$ Review: ...This is a biased view of the world according to Moore. Very little facts presented to substantiate the opinions or alleged facts. Not even funny. The author likes to think of himself as a bit of a comedian. I am sure he is laughing all the way to the bank with his profits from selling this book of diatribe.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Book Great; CD Not So Hot Review: The book itself, I'll give 4 1/2 (maybe even 5) stars, because it--much like Michael Moore himself--is absolutely entertaining. The CD however gets somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. I don't think that Arte Johnson was the best reader for this book. His voice is rather dry. And I found it odd that they picked a reader for a politically-charged book, that obviously is unfamiliar with basic American political figures, because he can't pronounce their names right. Like, how did Justice Scalia become "Scowl-ya"? Or how did Colin [CO-LIN] Powell become CAH-LIN Powell (like Colin Furth or Colin Ferrell or something)? Small points, but for me they ruined the flow of the book. I think it would have been better if (as is done in a couple of parts of the CD) the book had been read by Michael Moore himself. He's got so much passion and enthusiasm for his writing.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A must-read for the vast non-upper class majority Review: Michael's book is constructed a bit like his TV or movie presentations, it's a series of self-contained essays (with a common theme). The early chapters are engaging and make you want to do a lot more than you're currently doing, for anyone who feels things are arranged so that they get the short end of the stick this book is an inspiration. However, there is a chapter halfway through called 'The End of Men' that probably belongs elsewhere (eg. on the internet), I imagine men who grew up in female-majority households would nod knowingly while reading it but for the rest of the readers it might make you want to skip ahead to the next chapter. The book picks up from there gets better as it goes along, including some eye-opening statistics about Clinton, and ends on a note of humility from Moore (UK and Australian additions have a new introduction and epilogue). If you like any of Moore's other work like The Awful Truth or Bowling for Columbine then you should read this book.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Easy to read and smart Review: Michael's Moore's "Stupid White Men" is perfect for liberals who don't read very much. He starts off with the election scandal of 2000. As he points out, conservatives want everyone to "get over it," but conservatives never cared about democracy very much anyway. Then he writes an open letter to George Bush, asking him out his background.Afer that, the book loosens up. Moore wants to entertain you, so he writes a lot of lists, he comments on living with women, he talks lightly about race in America, and takes on global warming and a bad education system. One of the best sections is "We're Number One," in which he lists all the things the US is screwing up --- we're best at locking up our own people, at putting ourselves in debt, etc. This leads to a discussion of the US prison system and the death penalty, an important chapter everyone should read. This book is popular (and it's going to stay that way) because it's so easy to read. You'll learn a lot and there's plenty of sources at the end if you want to double-check the facts. Michael Moore is very good at coming across like a smart Everyman. Buy this book, read it, and lend it to a friend.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: I hate this book Review: Why did I buy this book? 1. I was stupid....I am a Malaysian, not white, not eligible to vote for any US president. Don't know what Republicans or Democrates have done to Americans. 2. To give Moore the money to buy another bottle of Evian
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: In your face political and social diatribes Review: When I started reading Michael Moore's "Stupid White Men" I wasn't sure if I would finish it. The introduction is a lot of ranting about the sham of the 2000 election the Bush "stole" from Gore, and filled with enough conspiracy theory to make Oliver Stone proud. I'm not thrilled by writers that jump on a soap box and jab their finger in my chest, and have to wonder about those that insist on gimmicks like SHOUTING WITH CAPITAL LETTERS and ending every other sentence with exclamation points!!! Yet, as I continued chapter after chapter, I was drawn in by Moore's compelling style and sense of humor. You simply have to read the entire book to realize that this is not simply liberal ranting, but that Moore is taking on both Republicans and Democrats. Bush and his cabinet are targets for sure, but Moore points out that the person who really let the election slip away was Gore. Clinton is not spared, and the list of measures that his adminstration signed is eye-opening, from the administration that supposedly did so much for the economy and environment. Moore takes on a number of topics, from big business (average starting pay for a pilot at American Eagle was $16,800 in 2001), white people (every person who has ever harmed me in my lifetime..has been a white person), and the education system (how do we make politics as engaging as sports?). As you read, you should not be shocked by what is stated, because deep inside we know most of this stuff is true, and we're not doing anything about it. While the book is filled with jokey things, like how a man can "survive your bed being set on fire" there is useful advice for slobs. Moore has also packed the book with addresses and web sites for how to contact your senator or congressperson, literacy programs, and lists like fifty world leaders and much more. Whether or not you agree with Michael Moore's viewpoint doesn't matter, you should take a look at this book. Whether you do something about any of the issues is up to you.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: They're not limited to one end of the spectrum! Review: That is...snotty, biased loudmouths aren't limited to one end of the political spectrum. Michael Moore may be less venomous than his conservative counterpart Ann Coulter; but, if anything, he's even *less* articulate. This book reads like an angry rant from a bad stand-up comic. Moore slings schoolyard insults, describing Republicans as "stupid" and Democrats as "wimpy [and] spineless" (p. 10), and rivals Coulter in the sloppy-research department...
