Rating: Summary: Best new Women's Fiction Review: This novel is part of a wonderful group of new women writers. Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorites along with Helen Fielding, Melissa de la Cruz, Jennifer Belle, and Emma Forrest . I recommend them to everyone.
Rating: Summary: *LOL* This was G-R-E-A-T!!! Review: I read lots of books, ranging from Sci-Fi to cookbooks. I tend to lean towards historical romances and wasn't sure what to expect when my mother picked this one out.It was lying on my mother's desk and I couldn't help but read the first few pages....I can usually tell if I'm going to like a book in that range. Well, before I knew it, I had read 3 chapters!!! I couldn't wait for her to finish so I could find out what Rebecca was going to do next!!! I laughed out loud, gasped out loud and almost cried from her antics! It's been a VERY long time, if EVER, that a book has moved me to physical reactions!!!! Thumbs up to Sophie Kinsella for writing such a funny story. I loved the ending but wanted more!!! I'm searching now for more of the same!!!
Rating: Summary: Fun to Read Review: Well, I first have to say that I agree with one of the other readers who also gave it four stars. I originally had a hard time getting into it as I thought it went ridiculously overboard on the "shopping" theme, and put it down. But I picked it back up and once I got through the overly shallow beginning and got to know Rebecca, I was totally engrossed. I am embarrassed to admit I share her same financial woes, and it was refreshing to read about someone with the same problems. It also revolved around her love life and a job she had no interest in, which I can relate to as well. It really started to get into her personality and her life and it was very encouraging to see her start to turn her life around. Can't say much more as it would give it away! But it was funny and interesting and definitely a good buy.
Rating: Summary: Cute Review: A fun and frothy summer read. Anyone who has shopped too much will recognize a bit of themselves in Rebecca. This was a fast and easy read. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant! Review: Absolutely brilliant! A must-read you will not be able to put down! The heroine, Rebecca Bloomwood is an every-woman....we've ALL been there and done that. Her trials and tribulations will have you in stitches, but will remind you uncannily of things you might have done or said in the past. An excellent read which I highly recommend! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Laugh at loud Review: I dont even remember the last time I read a book that truly made me laugh out loud, still twenty minutes after putting the book down. This book is very funny, it makes me think of things that I wish I would do. Rebecca is one of the funniest characters and what she felt in the begining of the book when she saw the sale for the scarves I truly felt my heart skip a beat because I knew what she was talking about and also the feeling. I so highly recommend this book and have also lent to many of my friends who also feel the same way I do.
Rating: Summary: A financial adventure... Review: What an interesting book! First off, there aren't many books that deal with financial situations like this book did. And of those that do, I'm sure they're not nearly as entertaining and as funny as this one. The main character in this book, Rebecca Bloomwood, is witty and very enjoyable to read about as she tries to deal with her financial problems. After reading a few British books, like the Bridget Jones' books, I thought I would get tired of reading them. But this book is completely different. It doesn't deal with Rebecca's problems with relationships, but her problems with her career and finances. This is a true success story!! It's a wonderful story, and very well-written. I hope that Sophie Kinsella continues to write lively stories about such interesting people.
Rating: Summary: LAUGH OUT LOUD SUMMER READ Review: The title drew me to this book since I have the shopaholic obsession along with many other readers, apparently. This was great laugh-out-loud entertainment! I must admit, I was a little disappointed at first because the story was written about a woman in Great Britain. (I didn't even recognize the stores!) (And I didn't realize it was a Bridget Jones' Diary type of genre.) But, before long, I was laughing at Rebecca's rationalizations, and feeling a little anxious because they were so familiar. The letters from the bank and credit card company were a scream! They at least responded to Rebecca with a personal touch! When Rebecca went home to mommy and daddy and told them she was being stalked, I thought I would die laughing! This is a must-read for anyone who has ever paid off their credit cards with another!
Rating: Summary: Read This Book!!!! Review: Take my advice, Read this book when you have a few hours to spare because you won't be able to put it down. This was laugh out loud funny. I sat down to read a chapter or two and ended up reading the entire book cover to cover non-stop. I must confess (shopaholic that I am) I can definitly identify with this character. It was like reading my own thoughts. At least I can say I have a little more self-control than she! If you lust for anything with a price tag you'll love this book!
Rating: Summary: Annoying, At Best.... Review: Oh my....this was a disappointing read! The main character, Rebecca, is so shallow and clueless that I wanted her to suffer bankruptcy and to be thrown into prison. Her answer to her obsession with shopping and overspending is to get a job in a retail store on the weekends....hello?!?! I bet you can't guess what happens next, right? Although she can't bear to open her late payment notices, she becomes a financial wiz on a local television news show....and gets the guy....PLEASE!!!! The end of this book was also predictable, but was the only thing that justified my reading it. Don't waste your money on this one!!
