Rating: Summary: Laugh out loud book Review: From the moment I saw this book, I knew I had to read this. From the moment I started I knew it was very much like me, many times I've just thrown away those credit card bills because I didn't want to see what was inside of them. Rebecca has the same idea I have, why worry about paying off that debt just go out and buy yourself something to make you feel better. Now onto the book. Rebecca has a job that doesn't make as much money as she needs. She struggles to find something that makes her more money. She takes a few jobs but at all of them she fails out. Finally she hits a point in her life where she can't escape and she has to finally figure out ways, after a few bad choices she finally comes upon something that is just right for her and everything works out just fine. Overall this was a very quick and light read. I would recommend this to anyone who is in debt and needs a good pick me up. I can't wait for next book about Rebecca.
Rating: Summary: My Little Dream Review: As a student and a worker I know first hand what living in debt is like... frightening yet somehow forgettable. As long as the bills get thrown out, misplaced, or incinerated, they magically never existed at all. I cannot say that I have ever been guilty of committing such acts of irresponsibility, but that's not to say I haven't been tempted (try every time the post comes). This is a book to give hope to all of us dreaming of winning the lottery, discovering a rich aunt we never knew existed has left us fortune, or marrying an extremely wealthy (and Brad Pittish) fellow who will take care of any debt I have accumulated plus buy me that brand new Jetta I've had my eye on. Sigh. Anyway, I've read the thing twice now simply for the main character's silly attempts to avoid her debtors. Truly unbelievable. And though the ending may seem a little implausible, isn't that the point of a daydream?
Rating: Summary: Good light fun. Review: This is a fast-paced novel about a financial journalist who can't control her own spending and the things she dreams of buying. Sweet and often laugh-out-loud funny, Becky meanders her way through cancelled credit cards, overdrawn bank accounts and tempting but overpriced clothes to find a sense of herself and a millionaire boyfriend.
Rating: Summary: This book is V. Bridgetish! Review: Love Bridget Jones? Well let me tell you, you'll love this book! V. similar writing style, big laughs and alot of fun!
Rating: Summary: So easy to identify with!!! Review: When I saw the cover of this book I thought..."I have to read this!" Within the first few paragraphs I felt as though I could be Becky and I didn't put the book down again until it was done! It is absolutely hilarious for anyone who has a habit of spending out of control. Becky's knack for "rationalizing" her situation is hilarious and at times you might think "why can't she just get it together?". Then you hang up the phone from ordering pizza or something from the shopping channel and you think "Why can't I get it together???" This book is an excellent read for anyone who would like to laugh at themselves and their spending habits!
Rating: Summary: Some Hilarious Stuff Review: This book was the funnest book I have ever read in my entire life~! When I first saw this book in the bookstore, it caught my attention immediately and thus I decided to buy it. Was that smart~! Once I read the first few lines I knew that I was going to love this book. Once you start you can't stop. Seriously~! Sohpie Kinsella is such a brilliant writer and the book literally brightens up your day. It's packed with some hilarious stuff and at times I just had to call up my best friend to read her some excerpts from the book~ I recommend this book to anybody who wants a good laugh...actually I recommend this book to EVERYBODY whether you want a good laugh or not~!!!!
Rating: Summary: Fairy Tale Solution Review: I read this book right after finishing Bridget Jones's Diary and I must say, these English girls do go in for the perfect fairy tale ending! I give this book 4 stars for its high fun quotient and its realistic portrayal of addiction--the lying, justification, denial, cut-and-run tactics, the whole bit. I know! In spite of not particularly liking the main character (I can't stand women whose only priority is how fabulous they look; too shallow for me), I found myself rooting for her when she stood up for herself or finally got honest about something. Granted, it didn't happen very often. Perhaps it's a credit to the author to create a character I could emotionally buy into; maybe I'm a sucker. Either way, I wanted this crazy girl to snap out of it and get herself together. While the laughs in this book aren't as many as in "Bridget," it's still pretty funny, and several episodes are complete gut-busters. Buy this book for yourself and all the compulsive shoppers in your life!
Rating: Summary: LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY. GREAT BOOK Review: Scary as it was, I identified with this book; the shopping addiction, the rent being due, the debt, the love life, and trying to find another job. Cannot wait for the next Shopaholic book to come out next year!
Rating: Summary: Read it, enjoyed it Review: I got it two days ago and finished it in two days. I couldn't believe anyone could get into such a situation, but I guess there are some people. It was creativly written and funny. But I wasn't to fond of the ending... it was something I expected to happen.
